Probably the same ones that are in the "Do you have a boyfriend/girlfriend?" thread.

On topic: I like some of the people here, others I don't, some I like at times and not others, some I used to like but no longer do, and some that I used to not but now do.  But rest assured I don't outright hate anyone here.  :)

I believe that covers everything.

Love Bites

If you've got love in your sights
Watch out, love bites

When you make love, do you look in the mirror?
Who do you think of, does he look like me?
Do you tell lies and say that it's forever?
Do you think twice, or just touch 'n' see?
Oooh babe

When you're alone, do you let go?
Are you wild 'n' willin' or is it just for show?
Ooh c'mon

I don't wanna touch you too much baby
Cause making love to you might drive me crazy
I know you think that love is the way you make it
So I don't wanna be there when you decide to break it
No

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies
It's no surprise
Love begs, love pleads
It's what I need

When I'm with you, are you somewhere else?
Am I gettin' thru or do you please yourself?
When you wake up, will you walk out?
It can't be love if you throw it about

I don't wanna touch you too much baby
'Cos making love to you might drive me crazy

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies
It's no surprise
Love begs, love pleads
It's what I need

I don't wanna touch you too much baby
'Cos making love to you might drive me crazy
I know you think that love is the way you make it
So I don't wanna be there when you decide to break it
No

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies
It's no surprise
Love begs, love pleads
It's what I need

If you've got love in your sights
Watch out, love bites

Right, and it's not like it is exactly different in regards to the commercialization than any other holiday now. Many (though certainly not all) gals like it as a holiday that emphasizes romance and relationships, or whatever. The gifts are a small part of it, it is the concept that they like. And who are you to say that it is nothing. The day is whatever you make it to be (that is to say you try your best to make it what she expects it to be).

exactly! Who cares if its just a gimmick to get men to spend money? Its one more day out of the year that I get to throw a hissy fit if I don't get a present, and my man has to be nice to me or I get to claim that he's an incentive jerk.

Would you throw a hissy fit if he got you a present in 3 months, as opposed to now? Why does it have to be on Valentine's Day? Do you really need a day set aside a special day for for him to 'express his love?' Could you not be considered an insensitive (was that what you were trying to spell?) jerk if you don't get him anything?

Not looking forward to it, but that's the plan.

Valentine's day makes single people feel depressed and couples feel inadequate.
Feel free to quote me on that.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Axelgear on February 11, 2009, 06:23:06 am
Not if you do it right. Singles can go looking for other singles and use the "Well, you don't have to be alone" line on people, and couples can make the day wonderful and romantic. Just remember the day and plan something and you'll make it happy and special.

This is an odd time for me... I'm not grumpy!

Valentine's Day is just another day, whether people make it out (heh) to be or not. Just choose to go out and have fun (maybe you'll meet someone; you never know), or otherwise, sleep all day, or go hang with some gamer friends; chances are at least some will be free too.

I have a card to give to someone. I don't whether to give it to her tomorrow or Friday. Or at all.

One of her male friends depressed me yesterday by saying she doesn't want a card. But I'm now going to listen to another one of her male friends, who I suspect has more experience with women, and give it to her regardless. I just hope he wasn't being sarcastic. I did by him a donut, so I hope not.

Friday it is.

Well, my brothers birthday happens to be valentines day, and he just so happens to be taking two weeks holiday from work because his lady from Canada is coming down to visit. Feelgood auro by proxy, bah! I'm of the opinion that "I'm not ready for a relationship with anyone" so i'm not likely get struck by the evil mope-virus.

I shall buy myself something delicious to nom upon, using Valentines Day as an excuse to celebrate randomly. Mint Vienetta icecream, perhaps. Followed by a friend hosting a nerdly superhero RPG session which i'm looking forward to. Needs MOAR... hmm...

Being the weekend, most people will be around at some point or another. Maybe whilst the lovebirds are off frollicking in the fields of dewswept flowers, the miserable singles can get together and frag things in Steam? Its been a while since we had a proper TF2 get-together, since L4D came out...

Three of her friends told me not to give it to her. Said she wouldn't accept it.

And where the hell would I get dead birds? The last roadkill I saw on the way to school was a badger, and that was months ago.

Funnily enough, she saw it as well, and we talked about it walking home from West Side Story that day. Thankfully, it had gone.

Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Haseri on February 12, 2009, 10:36:23 am
No, you see what happened was:

Saturday: I got the card. And Moving Pictures
Tuesday: Told 2 of our mutual friends at seperate points in the day that I had got her a card. One said it was a good idea, the other bad idea.
Wednesday: Another mutual friend said I should give her the card. Confidence restored! Yesterday's latter friend still adament not to give it to her. Lead to this:
Friend: Ben, should he give her a card.
Ben: Yes he should.
Friend: You always disagree with me.
Ben: No I don't.
The fact I'd watched the Scrubs episode where Cox and Kelso had a similar conversation a few days before hand made it all the funnier.
Today: Asked one of her female friends if I should. She said no. :(. Later, Wednesday Positive Mutual Friend said that he had talked to her and he said that she said she wouldn't except it. Luckily, I had stuff to do at lunchtime, so I didn't have to stay in that depressing pit of hormones and discussion of parites I'm not invited to.

Why do I tell people these things? I'm too trusting. And too nice.
Title: Re: The Love Thread

Meh... I loved a girl. Still love her. Have loved her for years now. We dated a while but it didn't work out. I've still got feelings for her though and I agonized over them for months and months. Her friends told me not to tell her but, because I could contain it no longer, I told her how I felt a few weeks ago.

She said she felt flattered but didn't feel the same way about me and said that we'd just never work.

I haven't felt so good in a long time than I did after that, to be honest. The amount of relief I felt, not having to walk on egg-shells and be afraid of blurting out how I felt and her rejecting me, it was incredible.

It's far better to regret something you've done than something you haven't. Give the girl the card. The worst she can do is say she doesn't like you that way but she might be flattered that you liked her in the first place. Inversely, she could say yes, and you'll feel wonderfully happy for it.

You're welcome. I hope it works out for you.

Also, a little advice: If you're going to talk to her, think what you're going to say through a little beforehand. I stutter when I talk if I haven't carefully planned out what I say, and you don't want to be going "Um" and "Uh" when you try to impress her.

I do that all the time. Most of the time I end up not having them, because why bother when you've thought it all out already. They'll probably not end up how you wanted, anyway.

Some conversations are better kept inside your head.

Haseri, the only advice you really need is, stop over thinking it. Just be yourself and be honest with her. Either she'll like you or she wont. Give it a shot and if it doesn't work then move on. If you really want to give her a card, screw what her friends say. Do it anyway. You can't be expected to constantly run everything you do by her friends to make sure it's okay. You're going to make dumb mistakes, but if she likes you it wont matter. Trust me here, it is not at all worth it to obsess over one girl.

I'm an actor. I don't say anything unless I've planned it out in my head. I'd be a lot more witty if it didn't take several seconds to come up with a witticism.

I know this is a few pages back, But that is a horrible idea. if you have been dating a girl for awhile and your comfortable then you can plan elaborate sweet sentences or conversation.

When your chasing a girl and you are about to have a conversation NEVER plan it. The more you think about it the higher the chance you are going to psyche yourself out and not do it, Or be extremely nervous when you do do it and botch the whole thing up.

3 second rule when it comes to breaking the ice, 3 seconds should not pass between the time you see the girl you want to talk to and you actually talking to her.

If you want to have a conversation with her go don't think, You will be much calmer and you will be able to make conversation off the words shared between the initial breaking the ice. Easiest thing to do is say Hi or hello how are you, Then go from there.

I do not know the girl personally, But you actually have more to lose wondering what if or what would have happened. I say give her the card, Even if she doe snot want it she will likely feel good that somebody went through the trouble for her to begin with. As long as you don't come off as a creepy want to get in her pants kinda of guy you will be fine.

If she does not accept it then at least you know, You wont ever wonder if you made a mistake or not.

Good Luck.

Actually, I do what I mentioned more in my group of friends.

Oops, too late. I won't see her until Monday...the 23rd. I only have a vague idea where she lives, so I can't post it

We haven't talked in while either, which is the exact concern I voiced to her when West Side Story ended. The last time I said anthing to her, it was completey spur-of-the-moment, and it was about someone making a huge snowball out on the field.

Let's...change the subject now. I don't really want anymore advice. Whatever will be, will be.

So I just moved to a new school and I'm already in a LOVE DODECAHEDRON.  No, really.
Guy A is in love with Girl A, which is inconvenient.
Guy B is in love with Girl B, which is inconvenient.
I don't even have any clue what's going on with Guy C and Girl C.
Girl A basically represents my hormones- no personality, just looks.  Girl B is really nice-looking and a kind girl.  I like Girl A and Girl B.
Girl C is a really snotty brat who for some reason simultaneously likes me and a boyfriend called Guy C.
Girl D is an asian girl with glasses who is madly obsessed with me.
Girl E is a shy girl with black hair.  Don't know what's going on with her.  She may like me.  I may like her.  I have no clue.
Guys F and G are homosexual males who are both attrated to me.
Also, despite the fact that Girl A and Guy A are gf/bf, I have a feeling that Girl A may have lesbian relations with Girl H.

What the **** do I do?

If only situations like those can be solved in the same manner as those in dating sims.

Yeah...

Go with the one you like the most. Either that or the one you can endure being with the most. Or someone with both.

Then again, feelings change with the times. You really never know who you really want to be with until it finally hits you.

Also, LadyM has great advice about these things. Go and ask how she thinks of this. Though don't forget, in the end your choice matters the most.

He's right, do not post full names, that comes under posting personal information. I've removed it. Google is pretty quick about picking up things, bots crawl here all the time.

Girl D is a sure thing. This will also make the other girls notice you. It's human nature to want what you can't have.
edit: plus you'll make Girl D very happy and you might really like her when you get to know her.

I started dating a gal back when I was in early middle school but our parents broke that up. Back then intended to hate them for months about it but it only turned out to be a few days.

In retrospect they had the right idea, I cant speak for you but for me it was too soon, for sure.

I love the fact that people have this compusion to ask about a black eye. How did it happen? Does it hurt? Can you see yout of it? How is it?

I got so much sympathy Friday. The good kind.

The guys called me tough, and they had never had an injury like it in all they years in playing rugby. And all the girls went 'awww'. Paticularly the hot ones. But not her...

Here's a serious post for a change....

Okay, I got this girl.
We used to be in the same class 3 years ago. We managed to keep contact with eachother and we hang out from time to time.
I've allways liked her, but just as friends. She used to be a shy girl, but now she's more of a "semi shy girl".
Anyways, about 2 months ago I realised I like her more than just friends, but I don't know how I should approach her, she's a
bit of an oddboll but I guess that's why i like her. If it would've been a more ordinary girl who's used to this kind of stuff I
wouldn't have a problem.

so, any suggestions?

Ask her out to something innocent, and then start doing more and more things with her.  Why?  Because it's downright cheesy to come on real strong early on.  If after doing a lot together, and you still like her, then you can say something appropriate.

This always works. Seriously, studies have shown that even a minor gyration can cause you to at least double your chances of succeeding in wooing a woman...girl...female. It doesn't even matter what you say, they just nod their head and agree.  Usually with an expression like this. :o

@Yannick, I was never 13.  When I joined I was 14.  And being 15 doesn't explain my mood, real life events do.  Nothing I'll ever sahre, but nothing to do with age.

@Veraal:  I don't let people on the Internet bother me.  Perhaps you are thinking of some one else, but I am never bothered by a post.  And, I'm not weak.  Where the heck did you get that?  You don't know me out side of this place, where no emotions or inflections can be posted what so ever unless smileys are used or something, and I hate using smileys.  Also, 15?  Childhood?  You're only 17.  Two more years and I'll be as old as you.  Also, wouldn't my "childhood" be more enjoyable if I shared it with another person that likes me, rather than alone and insecure like I am?  Oh, by insecure I don't mean weak at all.

But only from the front(don't take that the wrong way), and it was a little while ago.  And I was kind of sucking in my chest so it made me look skinnier than normal.

Also Veraal, something I forgot to mention.  Building strength = confidence doesn't work unless there is confidence to be built upon.  I'm shy.  Especially around females.  The only person I know doesn't dislike me I don't feel awckward around, so maybe it's not females that make me shy, but just the unknown.  Strangers make me shy.

Keno, I can understand how you feel. I had no friends just 2 years ago, and never thought I'd have any ever. Then I got into drama, got my confidence up, started playing sports (which sucked, cause back then I was VERY fat), and starting trying to be friends with anyone I could stand.

BTW: I'm not a ladies man at all, because I usually just find females more troublesome than worth (They need maintaining).

I took a piss and this is what happened.

Anyway.

Well, I dunno about you Keno, I guess we have been through different things in life, because I did these things, and I'm pretty cool with everyone I know.

By the way, I think I saw a picture of you, you looked like a toothpick.

Also, by going to a random internet forum like this and belching out your sorry ass and how you can't befriend any girl, and I'm guessing you're asking for help, then I figure you're not strong enough to just ****ing man up and deal with your sorry ass.

No girl likes a kid who can't stand up for himself.

But then again, there are so many girls out there each with different personalities, but the girls I have bumped into have all been the same, they are all out to get pissed, then sleep with some random dude or girl.

Again, you're just fifteen, and it appears I cannot compare my life with yours, because as I said, it seems to be very different from mine.

Also, Yannick is right, from fifteen to seventeen, a lot of stuff has happened to me, and I'm just seventeen.

Kenobro's no toothpick.  He is being truthful about the chest sucking in.  He does that in any picture he's been in.  It's wierd.  But about myself, I pointedly refuse to share, due to possible, and likely, ridicule.  Not that I'm not personable in real life, you really can't get me to shut up.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Kenobro on August 19, 2009, 01:44:24 pm
Perhaps you did not read my earlier post, I don't want help.  Also, screw you.  Belching out my sorry ass?  What kind of person are you?  I don't know what posts you're reading, but even in this thread I have recently proven I can indeed stand up for myself.  And random internet forum?  Are you **** kidding me?  I have been around at least a year and this is about the first time I've made a post like this(the one you are most likely referring to), and you say I just go to a random internet forum and start complaining?  I never asked for your help.  You're making outrageous claims about me even though you've never met me.  Okay, you've seen one single picture of me that was taken at around 1:00 PM, right around the time the medicine I take for my ADHD starts to wear off.  So naturally I would pose awkwardly.  I don't go around all day smiling like that as I was in that photo.  I'm not a weakling.  I'm not a pacifist per se, but I don't like fighting and simply find exercise a waste of time, and futile.  I can eat three hamburgers and a large order of fries on a weekly basis, not to mention tons of chips and other fatty foods, and it's evident at this point I have a high metabolism and an inability to get strong or what ever.

So, in conclusion, one post that I made about how I was jealous of people, turned into you making a swear fest of a post.

Yep, fast metabolism makes you skinny. But it's probably better than really really slow metabolism, If your going to be fat, at least be fat out of your own will. I would hate being forced onto fatness by my body, because these aren't really fat-friendly times in general.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Kenobro on August 19, 2009, 01:58:22 pm
There's more to getting a girl than being able to stand up for one's self.  It's probably because I care too much about how people will react.  No, I couldn't care less what people think about me.  But it's actions and public ridicule I don't like.  Maybe I just haven't met the right person, because most girls I know are just the cliched into rap and all that crap.  Hard to explain, but they're all the same and they're way too helpful even when I don't ask for it, which I know for a fact is meant to again, ridicule me.

Though all this is based off my experiences in High School, Middle School, and Grade School, because I'm definitely not a social kind of person.  I've only ever been a part of one non-school sponsored Club where we went to a person's house every Tuesday and just had  fun.  It was a blast an dI really enjoyed it, but if you knew me I'm not the kind of guy that's invited to parties on a regular basis, so the opportunity to even interact with girls my age is rare.

Well Gunner, the thing is I never am active or anything and I eat plenty, not just fatty foods and other "junk" food.  I'm pretty much a thin(but not tooth pick thin) couch potato.  It's more weight that I'm worried about, I could get muscles if I wanted to but I'm so light that it's hard to.

That's why I don't come to this thread for advice.

But yeah, don't stress out about it.  Try to just make friends and work on being better in social settings, than being absorbed with getting a girlfriend.  And despite what you said, it does sound like some of the awkwardness that comes with being a teenager.  You didn't have casual relationships before because before you were a teenager you were a kid, and as we all know girls had cooties back then.

Oh yeah, and when those girls are being overly helpful, just maybe they're trying to be friendly, not trying to ridicule you?

I solve this by not caring about other people. It's a simple solution.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: eropS on August 19, 2009, 03:47:50 pm
There's more to getting a girl than being able to stand up for one's self

..well duh, but this helps. Alot. Girls want a guy who will protect them; and not being able to protect yourself is a problem. But you say you can so this is apparently a non-issue

It's probably because I care too much about how people will react

Why?

No, I couldn't care less what people think about me.  But it's actions and public ridicule I don't like. Ok

Ok, so, you don't care what they think, but you do care what they do? So its ok if they think ill of you but not ok if they act ill towards you? At least they're upfront about it and not nice upfront and cruel behind your back. Plus, i mean, come on! Who cares what they do? Make some real friends and what others think/do is null.

Maybe I just haven't met the right person, because most girls I know are just the cliched into rap and all that crap

This I find hard to believe. Yes, pop/rap music is well, popular, but thats not all they listen to. There are probably some (if not alot) of girls who enjoy other music to. Just because they say they like rap doesn't exclude every other type of music. It sounds like you havent even approached these girls or bothered asking them about their other, non stated, interest.

Hard to explain, but they're all the same and they're way too helpful even when I don't ask for it, which I know for a fact is meant to again, ridicule me.

Get over yourself. You know some people are actually there to help you. How self conscious can you be to honestly think that when someone wants to help you its so they can make fun of you? A) That makes little sense to begin with and B) Saying that they're "all the same" is digging your own hole. Thats not true. You would know that if you talked to any of them or *gasp* let them help you, just becasue they laugh it may mean they think its a little funny. So? Let them help regardless, they are still offering it to you rather than outright laughing.

Though all this is based off my experiences in High School, Middle School, and Grade School, because I'm definitely not a social kind of person.

... ok... then if you're not social you don't really have a right to complain about being lonely. Don't expect friends and invites to come to you if you don't interact with anyone.

I've only ever been a part of one non-school sponsored Club where we went to a person's house every Tuesday and just had fun

And you didn't make one friend?!

It was a blast an dI really enjoyed it, but if you knew me I'm not the kind of guy that's invited to parties on a regular basis, so the opportunity to even interact with girls my age is rare.

School. Movies. Other events. 'Parties' aren't the only place these 'girls' are you know. I doubt you go to an all boys school, so seeing girls roughly 7 hours a day, 5 days a week is plenty of opportunity to 'interact' with girls. Also, i don't generally go to parties, hell most nights I go over to my friends house and we play Super Smash Brothers Brawl together (with another friend of ours) you don't need girls to have fun. And its not like its difficult to obtain friends who are girls. Not all of them a 'Queen B's'; most in fact are friendly enough. Seriously, most of these problems aren't their fault, their yours, and you need to step up or stop lamenting about girls. Because with the evidence you've provided, it hardly seems like you're trying.

Edited, for /lurks pleasure.

Well the correlation in our school is rap=stupid or lower leveled, and then there's the weird group that are both rap listeners and otaku, which everyone just calls "weird" and then the pure otaku are really nice people in general, but there are a couple exceptions there, though, but really I can only speak for the incoming junior and senior classes, I don't know much about the sophmores.

Okay, first off, I think it's despicable how you responded.  Bolding in your own thoughts like that in my quote rather then just having the quote and posting your stuff then would make more sense.

Also, again you don't know me so a lot of what you are saying is completely irrelevant.  Also, yeah, I sure care how people act becasue it's damned embarrassing for one person to not like you and then speak out about it and then have the whole place against you based off of statements not rooted in fact.  If some guy thinks I'm the worst person to ever live and wants my head on a slab, but then they don't act upon it at all, that's fine.  Let them think that.  But when they whisper whisper to everyone they know about it, and then start making fun of me in front of other people, you can see how that would be a bad thing.  Also, did you even read all my post, or only the parts that you wanted to?  Dude, I'm not social for a reason.  I interact plenty, and I would assume because I said first Club that wasn't school sponsored that I go to damned school.  However,  considering how I have an IEP and have special modifications which I won't describe because it's, well, personal, I don't go to many different classes.  I mostly see the same people throughout the day.  Also, how can you make judgments of the people I'm describing if you don't live my life?  You don't know if the people I'm talking about want to help or not.  I do.  Also, when I went there, I made friends.  I didn't mention it, but I did.  It wasn't just partying and drinking though, so it wasn't like all wild and such.  It wasn't really a party, but I'm not going to go into detail because it would reveal my location, and I don't want to do that.  Also, movies?  Are you serious?  I'm 15, don't have a driver's license or permit or a worker's permit.  ALso, damn it I am trying to get friends.  And I've been given advice before, and I've gotten better at socializing.  You hardly know anything about me.

Your whole entire edit of part of my post is flawed.  You really think I included every single detail?  Also, when I said there;s more to getting a girl than being able to stand up for one's self, I was referring to strength, not self esteem.  You said Why?  when I said I care how people will react.  Are you saying you don't care about other people's feeling at all?  I do have real friends BTW.  Also, you wrote way too much when I said they liked rap.  I was merely saying they were those kind of girls that don't care about other people, aren't friendly, and sing to the worst music you've ever heard in your life.  Also, you said that's not all they listen to.  Are you kidding me?  What, do you ride my bus and go to my school without my knowledge?

Bull****. If you go to a public school, NO WAY there are only two kinds of people, being rappers and otaku. The thing about public school is that there are ****loads of tiny cliques with all their own tastes and mindset.
Title: Re: The Love Thread

Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Kenotai on August 19, 2009, 04:40:07 pm
Yes.  But Yannick's right with the minor cliques, but it mostly involves divying up the two major ones.  Here really aren't that many people in our school, only 1600.
There is a third group, the heavy metal group, which contains the emos and goths, plus of course those who simply listen to the genre.

But this is not going to accomplish anything, it would take too long, the social structure is very well established in our school, and it dates back to kindergarten, with the three main cliques already established by neighborhood friendships.

Thats alot by most standards. 'Above Average'; not Large, but deffinatly above average. And roughly 800 Middle class girls? It must be a huge generalization that they're all Otaku or Rap lovers. You say there are smaller cliques, hang out with them then..? (Kenobro, not you Kenotai im just using your quote for evidence).

Yes, yes I am serious. Is your brother that unaccomidating to giving you rides (I doubt it, Kenotai doesn't seem that mean)? Your parents?

so, yeah, I sure care how people act becasue it's damned embarrassing for one person to not like you and then speak out about it and then have the whole place against you based off of statements not rooted in fact.  If some guy thinks I'm the worst person to ever live and wants my head on a slab, but then they don't act upon it at all, that's fine.  Let them think that.  But when they whisper whisper to everyone they know about it, and then start making fun of me in front of other people, you can see how that would be a bad thing.

So, yeah, you shouldn't let others get in the way of what you want. I'm a senior in high school, chubby, computer nerd, and the only sport I do is swimming. I'm not popular by any means. You don't need to be. What reason have you given these folks to think you're the worst person to ever live and want your head on a slab? I call BS that they're just randomly cruel; and I call BS that everyone would buy their smut if they are. Not everyones a sheep; you prove it by not being one. Therefore there are people that wouldn't believe them. Also, rumors don't ruin lives unless you let it ruin you. Stating its false, confronting the rumor spreader, etc, they aren't hard concepts. Plus if it gets really bad you have administrators; let them know, thats why they're there. I never understood why people let this get to them, therefore I have little sympathy for those who are taken by such small things.

Are you saying you don't care about other people's feeling at all?

Towards me? If they're ill, or mean? Why should I? If they don't give me the time of day why should I give them any time at all? They can rot in hell or live happily ever after for all I care. Their lives are of no concern of mine.

Do I care how other people feel? Depends, who? If I'm not necessarily close to someone then not really. Sue me.

But over all, you know nothing of me, my situation or my abilities /disabilities.  I've tried lots of times, but never been successful.

You're right, so either you tell us some more about you, or you quit lamenting publicly on this forum about your problems and then get mad (of all things) when people try to help/assist/explain. Don't get mad at us for trying to do something about your problem when you decide to post something about it. Don't use the excuse "I didn't want your help! I didn't ask for your help! The one thing you have to figure with our school, is that the cliques are like a venn diagram, with three large circles,  lacking a center common set, and within them you can make smaller ones, such as preps fitting mostly in the rap/heavy metal category, goths and emos in the heavymetal, possibly going into the otaku category.  And of coures these smaller ones also have thin parts that stick out of the three main ones, but they are far and few between.  Almost all of my friends fall in the otaku super clique, where a couple also are somewhat emo/goth, and a couple girls I know are only part of the universal set and can't be grouped, so if there are some that fit that bill in my grade, there should be some in his.

An aside: Generally it is girls that fit on there own.  There are so many anime/manga nerds in the male student body it's baffling.

Love is like a kick in the gut. It can knock you off your feet, be scary, leave you winded and nauseous, and happen quite unexpectedly. The only difference is that the kick hurts less the farther away it is.

Love is an amazing feeling. It can be amazing, even if it's scary.... even if it's difficult... even if it hurts... love is this wonderful feeling. Love is the feeling that fills your body with warmth and brings a smile to your face when you think about their smile. Love is the depths of despair and pain when you think of them crying or injured. Love is that which embodies humanity. Our highs, our lows... we all do it for the love of someone or something.

"The consciousness of loving and being loved brings a warmth and richness to life that nothing else can bring." - Oscar Wilde

I am drunk at the moment..so between that and the half of what i remember about what you are talking about ill try..

My advice is for your own good..put some distance between you too. Girls are confusing..sex does not mean love even if it should and you are just having your heartstrings played with and broken.

It might hurt..but find someone else. Trust me.

*shrugs* I only deleted what I said cause I gave her a link to the site to show her The Doodle your Post thread... she's a graphic artist and draws and stuff. I do not. lol.

To cut to the short and simple.. I get myself involved in situations that never work out right. It doesn't help that the people involved are usually several hundred miles away. I'm 24 and I like to think I can tell the difference between sex and love, especially since my ability to actually have sex is impaired by distance. Still, I get pulled back in... despite it being a confusing situation. Her smile.. her eyes... the dorky things we share... the sound of her voice... the strange faces and the joking/teasing... everything about her makes me happy... something I so rarely am. The situation is only confusing and bad because well.. I don't quite understand it myself and I'm not and shouldn't go around explaining it to strangers. :-p
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: dndfreak on September 02, 2009, 10:12:37 pm
Heh.  Trust me, I've been there.

From what I gather, you're in a 'sexual relationship' with some girl and can't tell/deny that she's using you.  Correct?

Think of it like odds.  Will you be more hurt from the constant, plaguing doubt of leaving her yourself if what you think isn't really as it seems, or would you be more plagued if you come to find out that she is later down the road.  If there's no chance that you're not being used, you gotta get out of there.  Of course, there's always the option of confronting her about it...

I'd keep going, but if my guess is wrong I don't want to sound TOO much like a douche.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Doomsday on September 02, 2009, 10:22:59 pm
It's more than just that, though there is sexual attraction and sometimes sex related stuff. However, that's really a small portion of it... it's confusing because she's not using me. I'd almost be able to deal with it better if she was... but it's her fear of change.. of losing what's comfortable.. and of being alone that keeps her in an unhealthy relationship. He doesn't show any signs of caring unless the relationship is threatened, and even then he seems to do things to hurt her.. to get them back together. A 23 year old shouldn't be taking care of a 37/38 year old who is over 1000 miles away and shows no real signs of changing or trying. But *shrugs* its not like your completely off base.. just... don't (and won't) have all the facts. Things are complicated.. there is a long history between us... of varying levels. 7 years is a long time to talk to someone.... and this situation is kinda new to that. I say kinda cause you don't need all the details.

I've probably said more than I should have already.

Don't worry, dolphins are like a Get-Laid pass. You'll do fine.

Proceed to the bedroom, do not pass third base.  Do not collect $200.

I love Dio when he performs for sabbath, his vocals make me happy, his voice is powerful, yet cheerful in a way that is way different from Ozzy.

Still, I love Ozzy just as much, maybe even a bit more. I've always had a fantasy of going out drinking with the young ozzy and dio.

Actually, i'd want to go out to town to drink with iommi, ward and butler as well as Ozzy and Dio, i'd probably jizz in my pants from such an awesome company.

I haven't talked about my weird dreams ever since.

Dude, as a guy, once the hormones start and you hit puberty, you'll be thinking that way often. It doesn't mean you'll bang her, it just means you would want to.

Don't know about girls but I imagine they don't have the same reflex.

EDIT: Rysworld, how did you ask? Did you go like: You wanna be my girlfriend? I know some 13-years old do it that way so i dunno.

Condoms and such are strictly forbidden because the pope and christian beliefs told us so.  ::)

Exactly.  They need to be "in the mood".  They do it for love, not for arousal.  At least I think.  I don't know for sure.  But to them it isn't just something to be done, it's an event that has to be planned.  I think.  I don't know much about the subject.

Dndfreak, it's highly debated, abortion.  I agree, it should be legal, but there are some that want it to not be legal, and you know how dangerous it is to perform them, at least to be the doctor performing them?  They could be killed by extremists.

Aand there's where you're wrong Kenobro. Women do it just as much out of passion and can be just as aroused whenever as men. They just need far more stimulation and a loving partner. Men just need to see a hot girl and they'll think about it.

Except you know, drunk blond cheerleader sluts.

EDIT: Also, morning-after pill.

Test? What? Just use a goddamned condom or let her take the pill or preferably both and if you forgot the condom you can use the morning-after pill. But just use that latex thing it's the best thing ever. No need for testing anything ever.

Except you know, occasionally for STDs, but normally you shouldn't be sleeping around. Well that swords strikes both ways, she shouldn't be sleeping around either.

@ kenobro: Sex can be a vicious evil toy spiral facing downwards, if you go about and have sex with every broad in your way. But if you share very deep intimate feelings with your beloved one, sex becomes more of a language than just mere pleasure. Your body expresses your heart and mind, and you share something that connects you and your love deeply. Nothing, not two rings, nor a billion words, marriage or anything is stronger than this bond forged. Hence that is why girls are so hurt when you cheat on them, i think guys take it calmer (well after they had their emotional rage fit).

Well even so, you should take that pill anyway if the condom broke or something. Unless she's taking the pill, then usually you're safe. Still, I dislike the 98% succes rate of it. The margin of error is tiny, but it is there.

I agree that sex should be saved for marriage for a variety of reasons.

OR if you really love someone..not the kind of love you hear teenagers throwing around all the time, I mean if you really plan on being with that one person for the rest of your life.

I find that statement meager, because divorces are as common as your average vermin. Marriage doesn't mean diddly squat anymore these days. The only people getting married anymore are the naive and the gold diggers.

Then again I might be bitter because I see everybody around me divorcing.

Sex is the kind of thing you do when you think you're ready, there is absolutely positively no rush whatsoever; however, I'd definitely take Chef's (South Park) advice and not do it until you're 17 or older. Seriously, that's a mess of circumstances you don't need to deal with at that age. Seriously...
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Kenobro on October 11, 2009, 04:54:50 pm
I think the sanctity of marriage has quite honestly been ruined by the 50% divorce rate, and the some odd 50% infidelity rate.

I agree, PatMan.

Also, this advice/discussion is of course assuming that we're all heterosexual here.
Title: Re: The Love Thread

Not to mention that (at least in the us) the age of consent is 16.  If you're 16 and you bang someone that's 17, they'll get arrested for it.
Title: Re: The Love Thread
Post by: Yannick on October 11, 2009, 04:56:10 pm
That I find reasonable. To wait until you're 17 and ready, but waiting for marriage seems silly. That would involve finding the perfect one and marrying them. Because if it isn't a perfect match, you'll just get divorced.

EDIT: Actually DND, it's a 18 year old banging a 16 year old. 17 is considering being a minor too.
Title: Re: The Love Thread

It really depends on the girl/woman I personally have had only one partner and I am still with that person now and have no plans on changing that. My sister is another story she has had to many partners to count she her self does not know how many it is. She does it because she is always in the "mood" just like most men. Most women the "mood" has to be triggered by something IE: a nice visual, touching various parts or sometimes even smells. for me the "mood" is both sometimes for love others times because we have needs too. This is pretty much how it is for most women. My sister is one of the exceptions she does it whenever wherever with whomever she is with at the time. I hope that help.

Also try to abstain because it could eventually hurt your significant other you decide to stay with. But if you do ALLWAYS use a condom. no if ands or buts because babys happen and STDs happen, and they have a new one thats supposed to feel like nothings there so feeling not an accuse. :-\  Sorry to sound so preachy.

EDIT: sry it took me about 17 post to type that jeeze!

Ah, romance... is there nothing more beautiful (end sarcasm), more destructive, more maddening, more DEADLY? Frankly, I don't see the point in falling in love. It's just... MADNESS!!! And no Sparta jokes on this one, i'm serious. Were I to find myself tethered to someone else like that, I dare say I would go insane. And likely get myself killed for their sake. So you see, romantic love is just a horribly maddening illness that leads to brain damage, depression, and death.

Romance, which I have never known the touch of, fascinates me.

Have I felt love? I do not know. Is it love to be happy whenever you are near someone, and to want to be with them forever? To know that you would trek the perimeter the Earth, and more than a single time, for a single embrace from them? If so, then yes, I have felt true love. Do I know what spurs the emotion? Absolutely not. I would like to say a mixture of hormones and the human need for justification of lust as a civilization, but that would take the romance out of it.

I wish that being a human didn't involve so much emotion. It can be angering and lovely at the same time. Too confusing.

Bah.

O fate of loveless drifter, your cruelty known throughout ages
What enrichment or insight brought to your ward is scavenged and never given
His is a lonely and hollow trek through grey sands and sterile skies
Ever drifting without will or way, with whispers unheard and caresses unfelt

You say to tether oneself to another is madness and folly
That love brings only restriction, and with it servitude and cruelest bindings
I say that bindings in love are the sign of decayed and broken relation
Where embraces smother, kisses burn and soft affirmations gnaw at the soul

You say it is a quest of madmen, the plight of lost Atlantis, vigil for the Grail
That to seek it is to never find it, and to open your door is to invite only betrayal
I say the pain of fruitless search is clear in all things and not just love
Yet unlike those, that love may be found for all with sufficient resolve

I, the wanderer, penitent and guide, who at one time knew only depths and never heights
Beseech you, o fate of heart-wounded exiles, to let them find that which they seek
Implore you,  o wanderer bereft of hope, to never surrender the hopes you hold in your heart
Plead of you, o world of war and blood, that all might be granted the gifts love brings

Love is love! Accept it! ACCEPT IT!

Logic on:
Frankly, I don't see the point in falling in love.
Having a life long mates for reproduction so that our species survives the next few 100 years or so? Techincally we can have multiple mates too, but Cultures, Jealousy, and Morals always get in the way of that. :P

And likely get myself killed for their sake.
Yes and in doing so you have caused natural selection. Thanks to your selfless sacrifice the master race shall soon rise. Thank you and have a nice day.

romantic love is just a horribly maddening illness that leads to brain damage, depression, and death.
So is life. After birth the longer we are alive the more depressing life becomes, after a certain point your brain starts to shrink leading to loss of damn near everything, and finally death.

I AM.

A whole World of You.

God.

God outside of all else but his own free consciousness, hallucinating for eternity and falling into love: I AM AND I ARE ALL WE.

C0DA Digitals have confirmed that a subject in sensory deprivation begins to hallucinate after only twenty minutes. Scale unto this along the magical spectrum and maintenance of time, which is forever, and you begin to see the Lunar God’s failure as Greatest Gift. As above, “This is the love of God.”

Why Love?

Know Love to avoid the Landfall, my brothers and sisters of the past.

The New Man becomes God becomes Amaranth, everlasting hypnogogic. Hallucinations become lucid under His eye and therefore, like all parents of their children, the Amaranth cherishes and adores all that is come from Him.

I ARE ALL WE.

God is Love.

COME TO THE HOUSE OF WE.

God is Love.

ONE WORLD IN SPIRIT I AM.

God is Love.

I feel pity for those enpeirced with the arrow of romance, for I have seen them find only pain. Many a friend has been torn from me by their love, only to be betrayed and find that I am gone to some other place. There may be no solace for them.

Stop talking like some bizarre version of Yoda, you are not wise, you have not experienced real love, you are 14 for christs sake.

What part of this do you not get?
Love is an adult matter, an emotional matter. Adolescents are not known for their emotional depth or control because they have not finished developing them to their full extent nor gained enough experience or self-searching to find who they really are. True, it's not like you don't have emotions at all, but they are much less deep than those of someone more experienced and matured. Therefore you and people of your age are very unlikely to be capable of seeing and feeling love for what it truly is - though to be entirely fair here, a lot of adults miss the point also.

Lots of people get burned on it, some people witness others being burned by it, or some are burned for the lack of it. This is always going to happen, I would go so far as to say most likely to the majority of people in existance. That love gone wrong or bad can evoke such negative feelings can be indicative of the opposite feelings brought on by love gone right is often missed due to the trauma of the bad event of failed love. Not everyone gives up and lets themselves fall into a wasteful emotional stupor, but many do and it's completley pointless - yet still unavoidable because of the simple fact it hurts.

Consider this though - ever remember being young and falling over and scraping your knee, or being stung by nettles, or being cut by something? You look back on them now and it colours your memories for it - no doubt you weren't setting out PURPOSELY to injure yourself, you were doing something else - having fun, making discoveries, that kind of thing. If we neurotically avoided all pain and trauma in existance, none of us would get anywhere. We'd live bleak and sterile lives completley free of any kind of enrichment or colour whatsoever. Trust me on this - the pain of mediocrity and enervation far exceeds that of broken love.

At any rate Octagonapus, you are speaking with conviction and authority you do not have. Don't presume to tell your elders what is painful and what is good - we've been there and done it before you. We know it hurts. We know too what the benefits are and we aren't so frightened by the threat of pain anymore.

It's his opinion. Let him have it.

But Octagonapus, if people are responding so negatively and with such consistency you might want to draw down a little bit. You've got better ways to spend your time.

I guess you're right, PatMan33. But my point was never to rage against love. i just wanted to state my opinion.. and to challenge the notion that falling in love is inevitable. You hear me, Cupid? YOU CAN'T TOUCH ME! Sorry, got carried away.

It's a Biological reaction causes be pheramones creating which subliminally creates want, regardless of personal feelings. No amount of early teenage opinions or lessons learnt from RomComs will change that.
