Title: Personal Favorites (Recommend an Artist)
Post by: Mae on February 08, 2009, 10:11:08 am
Alright, this section is pretty dead, sadly, so I'm gonna try to do my part to help it out. The rules are simple: recommend one artist here, someone who may not be necessarily well known, but you really like. Giving a brief description would help, too.

I'll start: Andrew Bird

Really lovely lyrics, with an "intelligent" feel to it. Oh, and he whistles too; really well.

Artists only or are bands allowed as well?:)

If bands are allowed as well, I really recommend Sonata Arctica. Some of the songs have great lyrics and songs like Shy and Tallulah even give me goosebumps :)

Ah well, then it's just the two of us :)
I personally love Apocalyptica as well, Neo-classical ftw :)

If you dismiss metal as boring, try some Tool. That's change your mind, hopefully.

If you don't think rap is poetry listen to Sage Francis (Escape Artist, Bridle, Going Back to Rehab + many more songs), Nas (One Mic first and foremost), Atmosphere (Your Glasshouse, Self Hate Bad Dub), GZA (Stay in Line, B.I.B.L.E), RZA (Fury in My Eyes, Glorious Day) for example. They are all good IMO.

No doubt, some rap is beautiful, skillfully made music but i greatly dislike the screamo nothing-but-expletives garbage.

There's something good in every genre, but yea, can't say I like that neither.
