Well, since you can't make absolutely everything in the entire universe, it may be a bit of a disappointment.

well i would be happy with a fairly big list of things...i mean you can do allot with just 100 difrent things if you combine them...and im sure there is more than that

This looks pretty interesting. Of course it all depends on the item list, and on the difficulty of the levels. But so far it looks good :)

I've been seeing quite a bit of attention on this game. Quite amazingly, it made E3's best of show. Period. That's surprising since portables never get best of show over console games.

How the game works is that you must solve puzzles by typing in any family-friendly concrete noun. The game will then automatically spawn that object into the game to help you solve the puzzle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTEUbtgpIgo

So far it seems to work amazingly. This game should be fun.

The game does look potentially amazing.  I had a friend who isn't that much of a gamer telling me about how awesome this game would be.  Hope it lives up to the hype.

I think a bit of merging is in order: http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=15447.0

Also, I could have sworn we had another one too, but maybe I'm confusing talk in the IRC. Either way, Scribblenauts is looking to be something new and great.

I'd love to see Darwin vs. God vs. Archeopteryx vs. Chupacabra. Or maybe Cthulhu vs. Godzilla. Or Earth vs. Funk! Heck, shoot the moon. That's it! Gun vs. Moon with Waffles! The possibilities! I am buying this game.

Mohandas = Gandhi's first name. Mahatma = His title, has a meaning similar to "saint". Simple.

Anyway, Scribblenauts is the only game where Cthulhu can fence with God (Apparently, the Jewish/Christian one. Maybe Allah will work, too. Everybody else might be screwed).

My biggest beef with this game is the control scheme. It's probably because of my brothers crappy DS touch screen but Maxwell always seems to go to objects when I want him to pick them up and pick them up when I want to go to them...

The game is largely touch screen dependant, but they should have worked in some old fashioned button control too...

Leeroy Jenkins - Just a knight.
Epic fail - A nuke that kills everything.
Teleporter - Takes you to 5th Cell Studios, where a zombie attack is taking place!
Portal - A portal to space. An alien appears and attacks you.
Rival - Angry Maxwell in reverse colours.
Cubicle - A clock, a computer and a drawer.
Cinema - A big old timey cinema.

Funny story no real spoilers.

I'm doing one of the first levels where you have to help the kid break open the pinata

So I give him a shotgun thinking he would do it himself but no dice. So I give myself a stick and throw it at the pinata but I end up hitting the kid. He goes crazy and ends up shooting everyone there.  :D made me laugh hard.

Some helpful items:
PEGASUS can fly, hover, and walk on the ground. Small enough to be useful.
CHAINGUN fires a constant stream of small cannonballs a short distance when activated.

You drag the item on to the thing you want in the cage or vice versa.

It doesn't turn both objects yellow? Then how about picking up the object you want in the cage and selecting the "Fill" command when you go to interact with it?

Enemies don't actually see you when you have the invisibility cloak on. The fact that you can still see the cloak is probably so you know where Maxwell is on the screen.

a growth ray?
Tried variaions on it and to no avail.
a pizza delivery service?
PIZZA GUY worked, 'pizza delivery service' is really abstract.

Just got the game today and love it.  Even my wife is playing it now and loves it.

She was playing the "dress the mannequin" level and wrote hair, and put it on the mannequin, but it replaced the shirt and put it on its backBack hair...ewww!

I typed in "Drilling machine" to help me dig and I get a deep sea oil rig.
I typed in "noose" and got gallows.  I wasn't able to get it to work, though I didn't try very hard.

There are four items that I seem to use over and over again in the action levels.
Fan, to push things
Boulder, to drop on things to kill them from far away
Rope, to connect things together, and
Wings, to fly everywhere.

Hm, I have yet to use the fan with any success.

I'm the same with the rope and wings though. But replace wings with jetpack.

Hey, got this game, it's awesome.

Well, I wish I had it, but my DS snapped in half.  I can post pictures if you want, but I was pissed at Mario Kart DS because I thought I unlocked a staff ghost time but didn't(stupid website guides... never trusting them again).  So I snapped it.  I can hold the top in one arm and the bottom in another.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you people rate this game game-play wise?  Is it the kind of game you leave on with the DS being cahrged all the time, or you turn the game on play it for like 10 minutes and turn it off?

On puzzle levels, it's the former. On action levels, it can be the latter. Some of those are awfully frustrating.

I just replayed the pinata party one. I gave the boy a shotgun I then summoned Cthulhu use the mind control device on him and mounted my Cthulhu steed. The kid goes crazy and starts shooting the shotgun he killed the clown, broke the pinata, and shot Cthulhu. Cthulhu gets pissed and starts to attack him. I grab the starite right at the moment when Cthulhu kills the kid.

This game is awesome.

I got this game today (Australian release today).

Spent ages trying to get past the tornado.
Tried using a teleporter I summoned one jumped in but it took my to what appeared to be the developers office building but with a zombie running about spreading it's zombie plague to others. I couldn't find anything to do in the level really so just teleported back to the start of the level.

Although I did finally pass that level using a combination of the tether and jetpack to force my way past the whirlwind.

A water buffalo shoots milk out at deadly speeds when you interact with it.

Anubis protects mummies, who just kill Anubis anyways. :P

X-Ray Goggles, Infrared Goggles, and Night-Vision Goggles tint the screen with funky colors.

Communists attack Capitalists and destroy money.

Killing the kids with a shotgun is a solution to the "Trick or Treat" level.

Attaching a baseball bat to a rope to another baseball bat really screws with the physics when you try to move.

"Rover" makes a car that can fly around.

Two doppelgangers will yoink items from each other constantly.

If you use an action replay to get rid of the object limit, and then place two bunnies next to each other, they will multiply out of control and freeze the game.

A meteor on it's own does nothing, but when you drop it from way above, it's destroys everything on screen and kills you.

"Edison" is a developer who's avatar is a dinosaur with a bandana. He will eat you. No, not attack you, he will eat you.

Typing in "gaf" will spawn an orb. You can ride it and it flies around like a jetpack. If you interact with it, a kid pops out of it and the orb loses it's flying abilities. O_o

Fun game.

Post by: UFO King on October 27, 2009, 06:39:31 pm
Fun fact:

Typing in "black hole," "nothing," or "wormhole" and selecting destructive will make a black hole, which attracts and destroys things. I find it to be an extremely useful tool, especially when dealing with enemies and obstacles. "Everything" is like a black hole, but not as swirly.

As IamMe said, fun game. And I think that while the soundtrack is fun to listen to, it really gets on my nerves after a while.

Interestingly, you can make nukes. Put an anarchist (aka pyro) and a nuke together, the pyro will set off the nuke. ASPLODE!

Enter Lucy and see what happens. Totally worth it.

Rust Remover, when used on people, makes them temporarily sick.
