Title: Read at your own discretion. Disturbing literature.
Post by: Draugr on October 23, 2008, 08:56:21 pm
I'm not really into this kind of stuff, but the other day my friend and I were talking about some of Vonnegut's work, and got on the topic of disturbing lit., he recommended a short story called Guts, by Chuck Palahniuk (wrote Fight Club). Now, I'm warning everyone, this is not for the weak of stomach, and is REALLY sick. Seriously I'm not kidding.

Link removed. Not forum appropriate... at all. If you want to read it then google it or something. But seriously... probably better you didn't ~ KS

^^ Sorry KS, whoever you are... I thought I gave enough warning

Not to sound a bit too apathetic but...

... that was kinda pretty awesome.

Man, just imagine what would happen if a couple of people did that in a public pool without the lifeguards noticing. >.>

It's only as bad as some of the Saw movies, which I never saw but I am told are pretty gross, and people pay money to see those.

Remember that viral video 2 Girls, 1 Cup, really gross right? Well my friend emailed me a video that worse, and is vaguely like this story. Private message me if you want a link. You WILL vomit. It feels inappropriate to have even mentioned it.

nope, the "fingerpaint" could be bile, feces, urine, blood, ejaculate, and pus, and this video would be worse... much much worse

Why not scroll through the whole thing once without reading and then decide from the information you gathered if it is worth reading?

NO!  DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM!

Please, for the love of whatever god you worship, do not look for this story.  If you read it, you will lose a part of your soul.  Everytime someone witnesses something disturbing, sick, and pointless like this, they tear away a piece of their childhood innocence for the sake of curiousity.  I'm not making a joke.  Don't read it.  Its disgusting, pathetic, nightmare inducing, etc.

This is the information age.  It is up to you to decide when enough is enough.  You have free reign over one of the most complex inventions of mankind.  Don't squander it reading putrid stories like this one.  Go learn something.  Go play a game.  Go chat with some friends.  Don't try and satisfy your morbid curiousity.  Better yourself as a human being.

Please, don't force your mentality on others, let them decide if they want to read it.

You see, that's what is so great about the internet.  I get to speak my opinion, without forcing it on others, and you get to insult me from halfway across the globe.

I've read the entire book in which this novel is a part(It's a short story collection, with a twist). It is the most disturbing of them all, the other ones are also imaginative but more about human evil than sheer gut-wrenching. In fact, the author claims that this story has made over 70 people faint in readings all over the world, several times when he was reading it himself. The initial reaction is nervous laughter, then silence and cold sweat, and then every now and then a loud thump as someone passes out.

He's a great author though, but you need to be very open-minded to enjoy his books.
