Title: The Host
Post by: Tesla on May 26, 2008, 01:24:26 pm
A sci-fi (and unfortuantely a tiny but romantic) book. It's about in the near future where parasitic aliens have taken almost the whole human race and basically live in a now-improved human civilisation, basically post invasion of the body snatchers. The actual plot is about when a parasite (or soul) is inserted into a member of the human resistance, however the human mind refuses to leave the body.

Wikipedia Article. Remember not to read the plot secion if you're interested. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Host_%28novel%29)

So yeah, I really loved this book.

Reminds me of a short story I read once. It was something about brain parasites that took over the mind of its host every once in a while, and the person would have no or little memory of what happened. Usually they did things that screwed up the lives of the people. I think it was in Orson Scott Card's collection called keeper of dreams, and it was called vessel.

intresting set up.. too bad the plot has been beaten to death.

invasion of the body snatchers
animorphs
stargate
star trak
the puppet masters
etc..

same old story thrown into a another view point.

It's a bit different mainly because it's in the invaders point of view.

Applegate has done that as well, the whole Visser book is from a Yeerk's perspective, if I remember correctly.

Those were good books.
