BTW - that is the same thing you do in Sims2

Spore: General / "open up the cheat panel"???
« on: September 19, 2008, 06:27:00 am »
In the patch notes it says to open up the cheat panel...

I can't find HOW to do this?

I play SIMS2 and know how to do that but (after searching) I can't find the "command" that opens the cheat panel so you can type the new stuff.

Thanks - sorry for the DUH question!

Creature Stage -

You can swim. Instead of running around the water to get to the other side - click ON the water and your creature will swim to the 'click' point. If you click on the other side your creature will walk all the way around.

If you are having a problem getting all of a tribe to be friends or dead  ;) if you get ONE creature alone it is easier to make them happy or kill them. It is easier to make ONE happy than a group.

Spore: General / How do YOU build your creatures? and Name it?
« on: September 14, 2008, 06:25:18 am »
I have started a few games and always get stuck when it asks me to NAME my creature - HOW do I know what it will look like when I am done???

So I was curious - do YOU have an idea of what your critter will look like when you start a game OR do you use Better Parts as you find them and create a different looking creature based on the parts you find??

In Cell phase my creatures look pretty much the same. In Creature stage I keep changing the look based on the parts I find and can afford. This changes the LOOK of the creature and sparks my imagination to evolve this critter into something completely different than what I thought I was going to do..... ;)

Back to naming = can you change the name? If I start out naming it Bunny and then go carnivore and never get the "bunny" mouth (which is herb) then the Bunny name is going to be really goofy if it looks like a dinasour!  ;D

Spore: General / Creatures and buddy list?
« on: September 13, 2008, 07:47:29 am »
I have NOT added anyone to my buddy list - I don't think I fully understand what it is?

In other games (MMO'S mostly) a buddy list (or friends list) allows you to see when they are online or to chat with them more easily.

IF I understand THIS buddy list = adding a name/creator to buddy ADDS this creators creatures to MY game? So far I have had mostly Maxis with tiny bit of mine and random creators creatures. Do I understand this right?

ALSO = can you change the landscape in Creature Stage? One of my games was a lot of really tall hills that my creatures couldn't climb - flat would be better....

Thanks OpDDay - I will try that!!

Spore: General / What is your favorite STAGE?
« on: September 12, 2008, 05:54:26 am »
I like the creature stage. I like searching for DNA and exploring the land. I like playing with the critter itself - not a tribe or spaceship etc. I like changing the creature's looks with the new items I collect. I like that you can make this stage last as long as you like and still explore and gather.

I would have liked the tribal stage to have more tribes to interact with and wish there was a way to add more.

So - what do YOU like best and why?

Grrrrr - I still can't get the legs to look right - well unless I want big round bottoms on my creatures  ;)

When I push the top joints together (over the critter or under it) I make an upside-down V of the legs - good so far - but when I try to add them to the body I get a BUMP on top of the spine. When I try to move this down-inside the legs either merge into one or 'jump' back to the "bottom bulges" or round hips.

I could swear there was a way to get something to go inside the body - some key combo to use or trick??? I was looking at some of the other creations (Sporpedia and ingame) and THEY have figured this out  :D

Thanks so much for the feedback and link!

I was a little afraid that there may be a problem with my PC and needed to confirm that it was the site.

I can't enter the official forum - alsways get this message =

"An error has occurred.

For detailed error information, please see the HTML source code, and contact the forum Administrator.

Error while executing SSO actions: java.lang.NullPointerException"

Is this a setting I have to do/make or is it something with the site itself? This just started yesterday - before that I had no problems getting into the forum.

Adding -state:CellEditor to your shortcut opens up more cell parts (Found by DarkDragon)

What do you mean by "CellEditor or your shortcut"? How do you do this? Thanks

Thanks so much for the replies!

I never even thought of "putting the legs together" under or over the body before attaching them! Thanks

The collection for the NEST must have been what I seen (wherever I saw it??) that got me wondering about what I was missing. I know about the"?" ribcages and collecting Parts - but wondered if there were other pieces I should be collecting - - - - Oh Wait - I just remembered something - What I read said something about "keeping or selling" the collection pieces - something about leaving them around for the critter's to admire (or something like that??) How would you SELL something or have tribe members admire them??

Again - Thank you all for the helpful information.

PS - What does 'sentient' actually mean or do in this game???

Spore: General / Creature legs question
« on: September 11, 2008, 09:02:49 am »
I have tried and tried and looked and looked and can't seem to find how to:

Meld the hip joints into the body!

I can move legs (arms) up/down and side to side -  but can't figure out how to push the joints closer together.

My critters all seem to end up with bulging "bottoms"  ;)

I also wondered how you "collect"? I have seen reference to collections (is it in creature stage?) I can pick-up sticks and stones and throw them or set them down by the nest - but have found nothing that would be a collection. OR is it the Better-Parts you collect for DNA?

There are parts of the game I feel I am missing. The basics  :D A good tutorial would be awesome! I do have the Prima Guide and it is mostly about Creating and NOT gameplay.

Thanks in advance for any information or links that may help me "figure it all out".....
