Step 1) Acquire roguelikes
Step 2) Download the entire steam library by the time you're un-hooked.

Dwarf Fortress? Nethack? IVAN? Elona?
See you next year~

I don't think I'll be going for that kickstarter for the same reason I didn't go for that Planetary Annihilation one...
No in-game footage, just concept talk and buzzwords. Hell, not even concept work beyond stills of a popular blockworld style. The more I hear about reinventing/redefining a genre (on a budget, on a small time limit), and re-envisioning older games, the more I shut off. Also : Molyneux. Sure games with him floating in them tend to be interesting on the surface, but they also have an awful habit of lacking immersion once you work out the skeletal mechanics. Plus I never quite forgave him for The Movies, which is a shining example of this. :I

Everything Else / Kickstarters of interest

Given links to kickstarters have become a semi-regular thing now, I guess it makes sense to have a central thread for them for bored browsing.
It's a crying shame when interesting projects slip on by, plus sometimes we could use a helpful reality check when something smells like a scam.
Not limited to games, either.

So, I'll start us off with a generic fantasy-looking game with a fun looking underpinning system, for your curiosity :

As well as a potential (official) Elite game :

Looks interesting, but I think it'll only really hold the appeal of a polished flash-game for me. Maybe it's fun, but I imagine it gets old fast, which is a shame given I love stealth games.
The creator gets pretty big respect for his "Why is there no kickstarter?" snippets on his site, though.

Man what is it about people releasing these sorts of games while they are still in alpha?
...and not telling people it's an alpha when they fork out for it. I mean, sure, you'll get the full product in the end, but hnngh.
Yes, that's a solid and rational line of reasoning : Hnngh.

Ouch, sorry to hear that, man. :/

It was more the idea that I wouldn't know the controls even though they've been the same throughout all the flash/html5 updates. I'm sorry for lashing out, I'm just frustrated and the wording rubbed me the wrong way.

Not a very successful entry to the forums I reckon.
It's cool. I'm pretty sure there've been worse entries to GS~

Nobody was suggesting you're an idiot. Your first post was asking for help, so people started making suggestions, dude.

The cloaking system is really useful for the second stage of the boss, for countering the drone surge attack. You'll need it for the third stage, too. A shield recharger or weapon reloader augment can really help combat too. Ion or some kind of bomb deployment system is useful for disabling the boarder if you can get there fast enough, but you have to penetrate that shield to target anything but the shield segment. This is normally why I pack lots of laser, in place of other things. Missiles can help, but you'd need an ample supply, and only the most powerful beams can penetrate the shields if you weaken them. A lot of it is in your equipment prior to the encounter. Don't forget your own drones. Even if you only invest in a basic attack or defense drone it can help tip things in your odds. Remember that when you buy the control system you get a free random (often low-grade) drone.

Then again, I've gone soft. I've been playing easy-mode for some time now just to unlock some ships, going back to normal is awkward.

I can never quite seem to get my shield operator to level up faster than an absolute snails pace. In all my games I think there was only once when the operator maxed out (when quite often by the end-game they haven't even levelled up once). Perhaps I'm simply taking out my targets too fast? Or perhaps my pilot/engineroom are levelling up too fast in comparison, lowering the number of shield recharges happening? I dunno...

My most common would be "dela" instead of "deal". Though just lately I kept typing "soxial" instead of "social".

Even with an awesome ship, I still got my ass handed to me by the final boss, after defeating it twice...
And yet I still can't put this game down.

Here's hoping for an open modding thingy for it. Insert Spore species here~

(1) League of Legends

That is all, thankye kindly.
However you are pretty nifty in my book, given you could probably sell some of these codes online if you were patient.

So, somebody bought one of the $10,000 slots on the Homestuck adventure game. Meaning that their fantroll is going to be made canon.
Dear god.
