Console Games / Steve was right! Comand and Conquer 3 coming to 360.....
« on: November 16, 2006, 02:45:52 pm »
Months ago, when this was a weekly podcast, Steve predicted C&C3 would be on the 360 when BFMEII came out.  Loe and behold he was right :)

Portable Games / PSP Homebrew
« on: October 11, 2006, 03:30:21 pm »
I was wondering if anyone else follows the PSP homebrew seen?  A 2.71 downgrader was released and now I'm at 1.5 and enjoying my PSP more then I ever did before :D  Anyone else at 1.5?

Podcasts / What did Steve say about Resistence: Fall of man?
« on: September 19, 2006, 09:17:38 pm »
I remember in one of the past episodes Steve said the idea of R: FOM taking place in an alternate WW II era was in some book, anyone remember that book?

Console Games / Super Secret PS3 launch game?
« on: September 17, 2006, 09:05:30 pm »
According to OPM there is some uber secret l33t launch game that will be 'announced' in OPM.  Linky

During their routine screening of the OPM podcast, they learned that the November issue of OPM (Official PlayStation Magazine) would reveal a title "that you have not heard of and won't heart about" ... until November that is. Choo-choo!

Also its 5 words long.

My guess?  The Elder Scrolls Four: Oblivion.  Which frankly means nothing to me cause I had my fun with it months ago and I'd rather have it on the PC.  But who knows, it could be something else.

Anyone else wanna take a stab in the dark?

Console Games / Xbox 360 bundle confirmed
« on: August 04, 2006, 09:30:51 am »
The rumor that was going around about the 360 being bundled with PGR3, MS pts, and 3 months of Live has now been confirmed.  It sucks for anyone who just bought their 360.

Everything Else / Fidel Castro
« on: July 31, 2006, 10:19:16 pm »
I figured we mine as well have some news events here :p  So heres a pretty big story since Castro has been in power since 59:

Fidel Castro temporarily relinquished his presidential powers to his brother Raul on Monday night and told Cubans he underwent surgery.

The Cuban leader said he had suffered gastrointestinal bleeding, apparently due to stress from recent public appearances in Argentina and Cuba, according to the letter read live on television by his secretary, Carlos Valenciaga.

"The operation obligates me to undertake several weeks of rest," the letter read, adding that extreme stress "had provoked in me a sharp intestinal crisis with sustained bleeding that obligated me to undergo a complicated surgical procedure."

Castro said he was temporarily relinquishing the presidency to his younger brother and successor Raul, the defense minister, but said the move was of "a provisional character." There was no immediate appearance or statement by Raul Castro....

Portable Games / The PSP is Dead
« on: July 18, 2006, 09:16:21 pm »

EDIT: Fixed Link.

Not my words, but the words of Gameworld.  Being a PSP owner since launch I obviously don't want the system to die.  But that article put out some key facts.  Only 3 PSP games have sold over 1 million units while 13 DS titles have and 3 360 games while its not even a year old.  And with the next gen consoles coming, can 300+ dollars justify a PSP and 2 games when you can buy a DS and 6 games for less or a Wii and 2 games for around the same price.

IMO, Sony better hope that this holiday does well with titles like Loco Roco, MGS, Lumines 2, Killzone, E3, and FF VII: Crisis Core and it's PS1 downloadable game service.  But when you look at it, sites like have less news coverage then sites like showing how alive the PSP homebrew crowd is.  Sony could do a lot by adding more and better updates and embracing homebrew more.  When compared to Nintendo in handhelds, Sony just doesn't know 'em as well.

Your thoughts?

Console Games / The Prey demo finally hit XBL Marketplace!
« on: June 30, 2006, 09:51:32 pm »
I didn't want to install the PC version because I was waiting for the 360 demo and boy was it fun.  Did anyone else download this 1+GB demo?  I haven't tried the multiplayer yet but the single player was incredible.  The weapons were so unique and creative.  I might pick this up since theres only a few games coming out for the 360 for a while.

Topic ^

I know a decent amount of stuff about monitors and tvs and stuff but I'm thinking about getting this to use when I go to college so I don't plan on getting it for a while (too expensive now!).  The contrast ratio is awesome and the built in speakers are nice. It has plenty of inputs, too :D and I know it has a pretty good refresh rate and high brightness but I need to know what the XBRITE and Ergo bright technologies really do.  Would this be good for gaming on, both PC and Xbox 360 (maybe PS3 in the future)?

The other one I was looking at is the Gateway monitor with adjustable stuff.  I'm just sick of this chunky CRT from 2001 or something.  My eyes need a break :P And it would be killing 2 birds with one stone by getting a TV and PC monitor.

The system supports Macromedia® Flash® Player 6; however, some features are not supported.
bullet    [Connection Settings] has been added as a setting under [Settings] in [Internet Browser] > [Tools].
bullet    Audio content from [RSS Channel] can now be saved on Memory Stick Duo™ media.
bullet    [Automatic] has been added as an option under [Rate] in the control panel of [LocationFree™ Player]. For details on the LocationFree™ Base Station, visit

IMO its not worth it, its only Flash 6 so you can't use it for youtube or google video :(

But if you don't care about homebrew or you want to update you can download this Loco Roco demo:

Portable Games / Doh! Brain Training does not help aging Brains
« on: April 25, 2006, 05:42:11 pm »

In a blow to Nintendo's hopes that their Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day title for the Nintendo DS would sell bajillions of copies to aging boomers who want to halt the rate at which their brains slip into senility, the Wall Street Journal's Science Journal debunks the idea that brain training of any sort can help slow the rate of mental decline.

The Journal quotes a recent study by University of Virginia’s Timothy Salthouse that found "little scientific evidence that engagement in mentally stimulating activities alters the rate of mental aging" calling the belief "more of an optimistic hope than an empirical reality."

Furthermore, "Even in the most mentally engaged elderly -- chess experts, professors, doctors -- mental function declines as steeply as in people to whom mental exercise means choosing which TV show to watch," Sharon Begley -- the author of the piece -- writes.

Not that it matters though, since anyone and their mom with a DS is still gonna buy it.
