I half expected that to act as a "kick", but yeah that whole scene was awesome.

The zero gravity fight was awesome.  But I would laugh out loud every time they cut back to the van slowly falling, for what felt like 45 minutes.
Probably not a Goat, either.

The idea being they were falling for about 45 mins depending how many levels down in the dream you were.

It didn't really sync up with what they said earlier though. It was something like...

An hour = Several days = Several months = 10 years in the third dream level.

So the van should have taken much longer to hit the water.

I'm guessing they are only really estimating the time speed difference seeing they dont really have a reiable point of reference while in the dream.

Actually, they were pretty good about the time. It was factors of 20. 10 seconds of the van falling is 3 minutes in the hotel room, which is an hour in the level below that, which is twenty hours in the level below that. Meanwhile, 10 seconds of the van falling is half a second in actual reality.

After that, it was all about using a "jump" to go up a level too. It timed up nicely.

Also, it makes one wonder how long Cob and his wife were under for, since an eight hour sleep cycle at the lowest level translates into 8hrs*20^4, or roughly 146 years (rounding down).

They were under for about 50 years.

He says as much in the movie.

I'm guessing when it is just the 2 of you 50 years is more than enough time to spend in the ultimate Gmod ever.

Saw it!

I say it was all a dream. There are too many repeated lines and sequences (such as his kids not aging at all when he returns home and them doing the exact same thing, leap of faith, 'half a dream', etc). His father telling him to come back to reality. The fact that getting out of 'limbo' was never fully explained. The fact Saito just shows up at the most convenient time in India. His wife was actually RIGHT when she killed herself. And finally, the audience has no totem. When were we show 'reality'? When they're on the train, do you remember how we the audience got there? The film makes it a point to say that if you don't remember how you got there, you're in a dream. Does the film show us how we got anywhere? Or are we just, there.

No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Yeah but the common allegory is that all movies are a shared dream.

My theory: He woke up. It's very simple. In the beginning of the movie we see the movie title but it's just a bunch of mish-mash letters, because we all know that you can't read in dreams. At the end of the movie we see the tile and can read it clearly, therefore he is awake. Nevermind the fact that most signs in the "real world" are in foreign languages

Firstly you can read in dreams I dont know who has been perpetuating that but I have seen and perfectly read text in my dreams before. Secondly the small text thing we brought the spoiler roll over box to avoid that putting small text in the tags is both annoying and redundant.

Also, ilikesanta, I think it's possible that the drugs they take to have shared dreams help stabilize the dreams, since in general, the dreams make more sense and are more stable than real dreams.

Great movie, just finished watching it.

A bit complex, but it's not as bad as that one James Bond / 007 movie I watched a few years ago.

Actually pretty great.
