Title: The WORST movies you have ever seen.
Post by: PineappleTheHun on December 09, 2005, 10:44:46 am
See the title.

1. The Black Knight

-Just horrible in every way... 'nuff said.

2. Flight of the Phoenix

-No bad guys, pathetic climax, very long, run-on, with not a lot of point to it.

Napolian Dynamite. I know i will be teared out for that, but i saw the movie, it really wasn't that good. at least in my opinion it wasn't. There was no plot or climax or definite conclusion to anything. not saying there can't be a good movie like that, but I really felt like Napolian Dynamite was a waste of time...

I'll add : "Monkey Bone"

Sahara.

Napoleon Dynamite was pretty bad, too. It's painful to sit through and watch, but you realize it's pretty funny after your eyes stop bleeding.

I could tell from the commercial for Napoleon Dynamite that it looks like a stupid movie, seemed like something out of 60s culture.

The only movie I've ever walked out of/turned off because I couldn't bear to watch it any more was Tomb Raider.

Resident Evil. I get easily scared by horror movies but this thing was laughable.

2. Flight of the Phoenix
Didn't see the new one, the original was very good.

Definitely badguys are not an important part of what makes a good film.  Conflict, sure.  Badguys no.

Hmmm...usually I don't see a movie until after I've heard someone vouch for it.

I got it.
The One.

They made a second one?!  :o

I would say the worst movie I've ever seen quality wise was Hercules in New York with Arnold Swartzeneger. It's hilarious. He was actually dubbed because people thought no one would be able to understand his accent. And there is a fight in Central Park against a bear...which is clearly a guy in a suit. Ah, that movie is so awesome...but horrible at the same time.

Only one which truly springs to mind is The Phantom Menace.

I don't care what George Lucas says - you don't ruin a genre for the sake of making a film "for your kids" - that film ruined Star Wars for me to be honest.  Revenge of the Sith was an improvement, but i still can't forgive the sickeningly awful directing and butchering of something which could've been brilliant.

I'd like to beat that little snot kid (Anakin). Worst child actor ever! "yeah, i can show no emotions at all". ahem. worst films: Has anyone said tomb raider yet? I only watched the last half and that was more than enough to show me it sucked.

Dude ... I saw Cube 2: Hypercube (which totally sucked) and then I actually watched (god help me) Cube Zero (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377713/), the THIRD movie in the series!!! Actually, that one wasn't half bad, not nearly as bad as part 2 (but it still totally sucked).

Cube is a great film.
I remember the first time I watched it, being dead silent and on the edge of my seat during the sound activated spike room scene.
:o Tense stuff :o
The sequel and prequel(was it a prequel?) ruined the original for me. >:(
The unanswered questions in Cube are what (for me) made the film that much better, they gave you something to think about after the film.
Also the answers to the questions were nowhere near as good as the questions themselves.

Anywho as for bad films.... how about Space Jam, that was complete crap.

Okay, here are a few:

Weekend at Bernie's
Weekend at Bernie's II (of course)
Jaws 3-D (wow that sucked)
Jaws: The Revenge (wow that really really sucked)
Hobgoblins (but the MST3K version was awesome)
Leonard Part 6
Spice World (what the hell was going on in this movie?)
Charlie's Angels (the guy who directed it is named "McG" ... that should have been my first hint)
'Manos' the Hands of Fate (worst ... movie ... ever! But the MST3k version was fantastic)

Kevin Costner movies (pick any)  They're long, boring, and pointless.

The Matrix movies (Again any) All they are is live action japanese cartoons, which are bad already.

And well, those Cube movies were pretty weird and terrible.

Now were you like everyone else and hated the movie in theaters, gave it a terrible review, and even say you hate it...but once it was on DVD and MTV said you loved it, then you thought it was that funny?

Because funny enough, that is what happened to every person I know who likes it. Literally. I never saw it, because every one of my friends and their friends said it sucked and not to waste my money. But wait, what's that? Once it's cool to like it, they all bought the DVD, the crap merchandise and told me it was the best freakin' thing ever. Now, I don't believe it was good at all, just by the way people only liked it once Hot Topic started selling merchandise.

Now after saying that, I do own a piece of that franchise in shirt form. But is an indy shirt from Cafe Press that is in the same fashion as the "Pedro" shirt...but instead it says "Vote for Zaphod". Because Hitchiker's Guide friggin rocks. Movie was okay too.

Braveheart.Short Australian with American citizenship makes a movie about Scotland flimed in Ireland, yeah that's got success written all over it.I knew this film sucked and refused to go and see it, much to my friends annoyance.
But one day I got on a bus from Dublin to Belfast and they were showing the film on a TV stuck at the front of the bus, I was trapped there for the duration of the movie, and guess what?, I was right, it sucked.

Boy did it suck.

Or just about any film made about Northern Ireland, they all suck with a few exceptions.

I first saw it when my mate downloaded it after it become big in america, we all thought it was super-sweet!! then several months later it got released here in NZ, straight to DVD, then just recently it got popular.

Well i saw it in the theatre and i thought it was funny. here's the thing though, i think it's more of a popular thing for the younger people, but those who actually lived through the 80's would like it more for the memories. Yes some people really did act like that. But i believe the younger kids only like it because other people do. Trends and all that...

Ah C'mon.
We all go against the majority opinion on occasion, it doesn't mean we can't appreciate a good movie, just that we don't always appreciate everything that is considered a classic.

It'd be really boring if we all agreed on everything.

Ghost of Mars was trash.
I don't know what it was.. there was just something seriously wrong with this movie. I've seen it maybe three times over a few years and I just cannot get into it.

Sort of the same thing with Dogma. Oh man, it's just so blah and uninteresting to me. A friend of mine loves it, and I guess I can see why; it does have some funny lines, but man. I just couldn't care any less about what's going on with the story.

Recently, last week I think, I saw Christmas With The Kranks on PPV. All this movie did was drive me nuts.
I suppose it was intended that the neighbors be funny with their strange behavior, but it just wasn't. I hated them so hard.

I know there's more, but this all I can remember at the moment, just a few that stand out and scream, "Hey, I'm lame as hell!" before you even watch them. Nice going.

Son of Mask should have been a cartoon. The parts where the baby lifts up the guy are completley dumb looking, and you can tell it was computer animated with most of the baby scenes.  The only good part would have been that gigantic fireball but, Odin or whatever made it go away.

I just remembered a huge stinker ... Mission to Mars. Oh my this movie was horrible beyond belief. Add in the huge budget, the very respectable cast (Gary Sinise, Tim Robbins, Don Cheadle), a decent director (Brian De Palma) and it's just that much worse. I actually heard people boo this movie at the end, I think I was one of them.

Napolean Dynamite for sure, I grew up in the 80's and while the memories were amusing, it ended there.
Solaris, I still haven't seen the whole movie it just went on and on and on

Gaming Steve is right on Mission to Mars.  Someone gave it to me on dvd as a gift...and man, did it suck.  What was with that terrible cheesy cg-i alien at the end?  What's with the face on Mars being real there when that myth was debunked all the way back in 1998?

Also, what about Last Action Hero?  That was a stinker!  It was expected to be the next big Arnold movie, and costed around 80 million to make, but it ended up being crap.  What's with it making fun of all the cliches and cheesiness in action movies yet it emulates those outside the movie as well?  And it is not funny....

I don't know why, but I liked Starship Troopers 2 more than number one.  Number one was awful.  It's acting, story, concept, everything but the aliens were horrible.   I never got the point in making a repressive military state yet the movie doesn't focus on that.  Did Robert A. Heinlen love military governments?  Maybe he should have moved to Burma....

And how can all of you forget Ghost of Mars?  John Carpenters (sp) worst.

I take it you wanted to punch the producers, not The Producers (that was hilarious).

I cant remember what it was called but it was a film about some guy buying sattelite tv from the devil and being sucked into a sort of evil tv land. It was supposed to be a comedy... it wasnt funny.

I'll have to disagree, the Last Action Hero was fun and that it took a lot of cliches and just turned it into to this movie, that is surprisingly deep. And Starship Troopers 1 was entertaining, I would hardly call it awful. I haven't seen the second, since I heard it was good awful.

Starship Troopers was a fun movie. It had two flaws:
1. It was to be based on a very good book, but failed miserably to follow hardly anything in the book. Had the movie been called something else, people would have liked it more.
2. People missed the point that it wasn't to be taken seriously. It is obvious that the producer decided that the only way to market it was to make it a robocop-esk spin-off.

Starship Troopers 2 had only two things worth seeing in the movie, but she died early on.

Setting aside movies I KNEW would be bad and WANTED to revel in the suckitude (e.g. Plan 9, Showgirls), and trying to focus on movies that I actually wanted to enjoy, here's a few off the top:

"The Waterboy"... and for that matter, Sandler's remake of "The Longest Yard". Sandler + football = teh suq.

Thanks to a recommendation from my wife's friend, we also sat through "Amelie" (Isn't she quirky? Isn't she French?) I think I would've rather been pistol-whipped for a similar length of time.

In terms of big blockbusters, I pretty much thought Tom Cruise's "War of the Worlds" and the second and third Matrix movies crapped the bed.

(I don't think im posting spoiler because really you shouldn't see this film)

Wow...Amelie is actually one of my 5 favorite movies.

I also got quite a few laughs out of Ace Ventura.  Guess it all just boils down to your taste in movies...

I own Soldier on DVD, heh - this was back when DVD was new, and I was trying to find cheap(er) movies to watch, since the standard price was $30.00 or more.   Soldier was $14.99.  I knew nothing about the movie.  I was in college.  ...and it's still not excusable.

since the standard price was $30.00 or more.

So not a lot has changed. It may be easier to find a sale now but if I wanted let's say a Indian Jones movie unless I shopped online I would still end up paying around $30.00.

You all need to watch some real crappy movies. Movies like "Night Train to Mundo Fine" or "'Manos' The Hands of Fate". No budget, horrible acting, non-comprehensible script, basic things like sound and focus not included! I'd rather watch Universal Soldier or Steven Seagal any day of the week than those movies.

But if I have to choose a big-budget movie which really sucked, I'd take Star Wars III. Some things were so laughable. It was one of the first movies I didn't like while watching it in a cinema(sight and sound usually keeps me happy till the ending).

'Starship Troopers 2' is a terrible one, I was actually cringing at certain parts because it was so bad. The crazyest thing about it is that one of the soldiers in this film DIES in the first movie! (Brenda Strong (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0834947/))

'Salems Lot' is another bad film, however that gets bonus points for making me laugh most of the time than actaully getting scared. ;)

I went to see Firewall the other night.
It has a good idea, and starts off well, but then the story goes off on a tangent, and its very stop/start. And the last 30mins are just so cheesy that it killed off any hopes of a good movie.

Harrison Ford was alright I suppose, nothing special though.

Worst movie ive ever seen? Wrong Turn, and Castle Freak. Both were old, low budget horror movies. That and my buddies and I also rented a horror movie before where scarecrows came alive and killed all of them, that was pretty lame too. Good thing about low budget horror movies, theres almost always at LEAST 1 naked chick in each one. ;)

As far as more mainstream movies that ive seen and didnt like.... any Steven Segal movie. He's really really really horrible. Can't stand that guy. :P

rest in no particular order
House of the Dead ( I can insult my inteligence on my own thank you)
Daredevil (Ben Affleck, enough said (although he did kick ass in Dazed n Confused))
Fantastic Four ( I think I vomited )
Visitor Q ( I read the Netflix summary wrong - DO NOT make the same mistake I did)
Cube 2  (I did like the first one though, never even attempted the 3rd one you guys are talkin' about)

all I can think of for now.

brief caveat: I have a high tolerance for crap.  Many of the films mentioned earlier are cherished by myself eg: Starship Troopers, Super Mario Brothers, Van Helsing, etc.  However, even I, in all my infinite patience for the slow, the idiotic and the painful, can contribute to this list:
Tapeheads: any movie that makes me dislike both John Cusack and Tim Robbins kills my soul a little.
Naked Lunch: Peter Weller (robocop) takes a lot of drugs, drinks out of alien anatomy and possibly has sex with a typewriter
Life of David Gale: Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet made me Want the death penalty by the time this film had finished.

I also don't like Italian movies unless they have Roberto Benigni.
Carry on with the sane talk now. -leeman

As far as horrible B-Movies go, Dark Star is the worst. It is slow, low-budget, one the wierdest endings ever, and it has only one alien in it...who is made out of a balloon...and it pops.

Could NOT get enough of the books for Hitchhiker's Guide, but the movie was truly awful. Rented it only after repeated darings by myself because I wanted to disbelieve most of the reviews. Snorefest! I even watched it with someone that hasn't read the books and they thought it was okay, but wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It tried too hard or something, but it was a huge letdown.

Also, Men in Black 2 was mind-retchingly bad! One of those movies where, if you picked it out to see with your friends, you're cringeing at how embarrassed you are for making everyone watch it.

I agree with a former poster. Men in Black has some funny scenes. Just tone your brain down a few notches(age 10 should be fine) and it's much more enjoyable. Also, do check out the British BBC series of HHGTTG. It's super-low budget, but that fits very well with the silly feel of the book. It stays with the story nicely and has a great Arthur Dent. The second head of Ford's buddy looks xtremely cheap, but not much worse than the 2005 version...

Also, do check out the British BBC series of HHGTTG. It's super-low budget, but that fits very well with the silly feel of the book. It stays with the story nicely and has a great Arthur Dent. The second head of Ford's buddy looks xtremely cheap, but not much worse than the 2005 version...

Ford doesnt have two heads. You mean Zaphod.

Anything else?  :P

Noooo! Did you miss the scene where his eyes bulge out of his skull? Or the triple-breasted hooker? Or when he says "see you at the puarty RRRichta!"? That movie is brillant!  ;D ;D ;D
The best part was when he was on the elevator and he riipped the guys arms off. Or when he was using that body as a sheild on the escalator. Or the mutant baby thing sticking our of that guys stomach. Or the ingenious ending. Those weren't so bad.

A really really bad B-Movie horror. Tarintino owns one of the last remaining copies of the 35mm print and calls it one of his favorite comedies.

The MST3K episode with it is great.

Sure, but I don't know them (luckyly :D ). Anacronism is like salt or pepper: a little bit of it makes a dish funny and spicey, tons makes it impossible to eat. It seemed like producers put a bunch of teens reenacting middle ages freely (soooo much freely :D :D :D :D :D ) As we say in my country: "It has neither feet, nor head".

I have yet to see Napolean Dynamite, but I've heard from most others it takes seeing it more than once to really enjoy it. Most people I've heard talk about it say they didn't think it was funny the first time around, but did the second. I was the same way with Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. I haven't seen all the movies mentioned on here, but still gotta say the ones I do know about got nothin' on Troll 2. If you want to read about the worst of the worst you should check out somethingawful.com. The reviews are usually pretty funny and full of bad movies.

I have only seen House of the Dead but I think that Uwe Boll deserves the title "today's Ed Wood". Unlike Ed Wood, he lacks any imagination and spirit(and probably soul too). Uwe Boll knows he makes crappy movies. He get's upset when people say it to him though.

Blood Rayne deserved so much better. Didn't get to see the movie itself because it was only in theaters for about a week here, but I heard it sucked hardcore. I have played both games though and actually think the mythos is interesting. If it were any other direction I'm sure the movie could have been done much better. As for Hollow Man, recently I've been seeing commercials on tv for a dvd release sequel. Which I think looks worth seeing, if only because it seems to be about an invisible man going on a homicidal rampage through some city.

I did mention Tetsuo the Iron Man, didn't I? That -- that's on this list, isn't it? Well if not, here it is. Tetsuo the Iron Man. I have been haunted by that flick for over a decade. And no, not in a good way --- not like Audition haunts you with imagery and concepts that make you squirm just thinking about it. No. Tetsuo is disturbing and wrong in so many ways that it makes the worst movies not as bad because, by comparison, they are merely trite.

While bad, and suffering from major flaws in technical points and obivous violations of the laws of physics, it was entertaining. Not worst, but not good.

I think you're getting "The Day after Tommorow" starring Dennis Quaid confused with "The Day After" starring John Lithgow. Ones about Global warming, the other is about Nuclear Apocolypse.

I never saw the original Poseidon Adventure and didn't know one even existed until after hearing about the new version, but either way after seeing previews I couldn't see the appeal in it. From what I gather it's about a ship, that capsized, and people try to get off or something. It's like Titanic, upside down. How does that make a movie?

Not every story needs plot twists and an overly complex scenario to be worth a damn. Maybe I should describe the basic gist of 'The Bicycle Thief' and see how that fares.

Didn't say it had to, it should at least be worth making a movie about though. The concept is as uninteresting to me as "when a stranger calls", with the baby sitter trapped in a house with some psycho killer. I just fail to see the point.

Terrible, terrible acting. The parts that were sad/dramatic/intense made me laugh, then cry because I realized how much of my life I was wasting. And the ending was probably the lamest thing I've ever seen on a TV screen since the remake of Speed Racer a few years ago.

I have seen every movie thats been listed here so far - some are bad, some are REALLY bad, and others were acctually pretty decent in my opinion. But none of them compare to the sheer grosteque, face-melting, eye bleeding, genital shrinking, load of vile putrid filth that is The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

Hillary Duff is NOT attractive, Italy is not nor has ever been "cool," and I sometimes feel like taking my own life for letting my sister talk me into watching this movie. Nothing good has ever come out of Texas - be it Hillary Duff, Brittany Spears, Jessica Simpson, George W. Bush, or even the almighty Chuck Norris (now the butt of every joke, and rightfully so). I say we rid this world once and for all of the abbhorid abomination that is Texas, and the pure bile and hillbillyed sh!t it excretes.

Also, looking at Lindsay Lohan makes me vomit muscus and blood, and Queen Latifa needs to be put down and served with lettuce and tomato on a sesame seed bun.

Bad thing was my friend and I thought it actually had something to do with Final Fantasy (the series)before I saw it but apparently(I thought) it was a coincidence with the name because it had nothing to do with FF yet it somehow does, and my friend and I were the only ones in the room where they were shooting that movie, horrible movie yet I doubt it was the worst.

You mean Open Water? My god that movie was horrible. I missed the first half hour or so but don't think I missed anything really important. Seemed like most of it was of them floating in the ocean. Not doing anything, not talking, not interacting, just floating. And when they did do something it was either argue with each other, make up, argue some more, or freak out about sharks. Then there were some random scenes of people partying in some resort or something. It would seriously suck to have actually happen to you and I feel for the couple it did happen to, but the movie blew. I don't know, maybe it was better in theaters, I saw it on cable. One thing I know I would be really bad would be stuck floating in the middle of the ocean at night. Nothing but vast ocean beneath and near if complete darkness above.

Alot Like Love:
Followed the "get lonely secretaries movie money" formula to a T.
Take two "hot right now but, cheap" actors-Ashton Kutcher, Amanda Peet
Add "exotic but, cheap" destinations-San Franciso, LA, and umm...New Orleans, I believe
Mix in 90 minutes of cheesy brief romantic moments while pulling them back apart for impossibly stupid reasons
(Ashton's character starts a buisness selling reusable diapers on the internet)
Then throw in the suprise ending-They get together! (Didn't see that coming, huh?)
If I ever run into that guy, I'm getting my $16 back...

I forgot to mention the great writing in this movie, examples below:

Ashton's character: The thing is, how can I be there for her if I don't even have my thing figured out? You know?

Ashtons character's dad:Oliver, this is your life. You can't wait for it to just to get you up on your feet.

Moral of the story: Never let your date pick the movie

it's about as cliched as you can get, and extremely inaccurate. for instance they show some stock footage of verious aircraft taking off from a carrier, namely f-14s and f/a-18s. then they show these aircraft in flight, exept that they're all f-15s, a completely different aircraft all together. it did have boobs though.

It reminded me a lot of Welcome to the Dollhouse, which I'd seen beforehand so I think I got a little more out of the movie because I had something to compare it to. Thought it was ok, not great, but not horrible either. I've also heard most people say it's a movie you need to watch more than once to really appreciate. But I'm not motivated enough to watch it again.

That really depends on whom you consider the bad guy...
I actually like a lot of the changes in the movie. I've read Crichton Jurassic Park and to be honest I'm not fond of his sensationalist writing.  Going on about how the dinosaurs were "supposed" to be wiped and nature "chose" them for extinction *sigh*.

A big rock doesn’t think Mr Crichton... Ya know I wouldn't be surprised if you saw him protesting against GM foods if he hadn't wrote a book about how climate change doesn’t exist.

The Transporter 2. I loved the first one and it was made so well with a lot of practical real to life effects.

The sequel however featured a bunch of cgi crap with the cars, and felt a need to sex up the villian and was just plain awful.

I really hope they dont make another. I want whoever ruined the second one to keep his mits off of what could have been a great series of movies.

I just scanned over this thread and most of you people have no idea how bad movies can be.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

Young Einstein.

Deathstalker.

Wizards. (You want to like, till you get to the ending.)

The Neverending Story.

Highlander 2 and up. (THERE IS ONLY ONE!)

White Commanche. (1967 - William Shatner playing Indian twins.)

Sheena.

Monsters and Mazes.  (Actually, I love this movie, but it is TERRIBLE.  Note: Tom Hanks is billed Tom Harvey in the credits. That's bad.)

And the movie that makes Manos: The Hands of Fate and Prince of Space look like Citizen Kane and The Godfather:

The Resident Evil films are the worst I've seen.

I'm a Milla Jovovich fan (or I was one anyway), so I went to see the first film by default.  I hated it.  And to make matters worse, I noticed a wart on Milla's forehead that must usually be hidden behind her hair.  To see such a flaw shattered the illusion of her physical perfection.

I must have repressed the memory though, because a year or whatever later, I watched Joan of Arc and was once again captivated by Milla's beauty.  Then I learnt that the sequel to Resident  Evil was being released, so I convinced myself to go and see it.  Resident Evil: Apocalypse was even worse than the original - quite a feat.  To make matters worse again, I noticed the wart which I had forgotten about.

It makes me ill to think such bad film makers got my money, but I was an idiot.  Reminds me of the saying: fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.  Suffice to say that I won't be going to see Resident Evil: Extinction.  It's sad that such a promising actress has been reduced to making such garbage.

she's a good icon for corruption of innocence and fearing that which should be safe. I agree with you, though that bringing her into a hollywoodised atmosphere where directors feel the need to PERSONIFY her like in ring 2 where they gave her a voice and motive (mummy) is really awful.

The little dead girl would wipe the floor with Freddy. And I felt what was done with the story in Ring 2 was an atrocity. They turned Samara from an enigmatic entity of exquisite evil and seering hatred into a lonely little girl who wanted a mommy. I've heard the remake of the sequel was a separate story from the original sequel though, and actually paralleled the original and remakes of Dark Water. Which wasn't scary either, just sad. Seriously, it made me cry.

Battlefield Earth and Super Mario Bros.

Battlefield Earth just seemed like a movie someone dreamed up while trying to breed dollar bills.  No real good story and a cheap story that is a black mark on Travolta's career.

Super Mario Bros. wasn't bad as a movie, although it was a bit weird.  But I hate the spin they threw on Nintendo's franchise.

I have just watched the worst movie ever made.

The Ultimate Ninja
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0202032/

The worst thing about this film is that there are two plots which are totally disconnected. And I mean totally, there is no justification made for them. It just looks like they made two movies and spliced them together. One of the storylines doesn't even involve ninjas at all.
The martial arts are generally crap. There are truly bizarre situations where people suddenly stop fighting and just stand there and talk, and then wander off. The acting is crap, and they give ridiculously poor voice-overs to people speaking English (half the movie seems to be in English, the other half in chinese or something). It seriously looks like it's been made as a practical joke. A truly Z-grade movie.

Where do I begin?

2001 A Space Oddysey: Everyone said I'd love it. I hated it.

Phantom Menace: Love Star Wars. But this movie kinda killed it. Final Lightsaber duel was pretty good though.

Matrix Reloaded: Only movie I fell asleep in the theater on.

Napolean Dynamite: Yeah, I can't stand a certain level of stupidity...

Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: I thought it'd be stupid funny. It was just stupid.

Mars Attacks!: That was suppose to be funny! It sucked!

Pokemon Movies (any of em): I was a good fan of the games and the cartoon wasn't a bad childrens show. But the movies were disappointing.

That's just what hits the top of my head.

True, 2001 was a masterpiece.
Anyways, I also like to add that Cat in the Hat movie. I dunno why I watched it. Maybe because it was just on HBO. Although I do imagine the "hoe" joke being pretty funny in the movie, though I'm not sure if it was intended that way.
Also that "What the Bleep do we know" was pretty dumb, and had no absolute meaning to it.

Since I'm a cineast I'm compelled by law to tell you something...

"You didn't understand 2001".

 ;)

Indeed, I must have misunderstood it. It seemed rather dull to me. Maybe I'll watch it again in a couple years to see if I understand it. But until then I shall be robbed of what it gave you.

2001 was designed to make you think, something that doesn't really come across the first time you see it. After all, you are watching a movie to be entertained, not think.

What 2001 suffers from, although it was completely understandable as to why, is sound, music, and lack there-of. The beginning of  the movie has giant music scores and grand views of 'future space'. Then you cut to the main space ship scenes and all the music goes away. There is nothing in the background by noises of a space ship and its crew. The illusion is to give the viewer a sense of empty space and loneliness, but it often gives a causal viewer time to let their mind wander. Once sound is 'reintroduced' it is annoying beeps and pings... further turning the watcher from focusing on what is going on (there is no excitement in the 'chase scene' ). Only after the 'chase' is there any real understanding of a conflict and then the movie takes a short monolog to jump you to the end scenes... which by now the casual viewer has probably forgotten about... leading to the end scene where people go 'huh?... oh there was a message in this... i fell asleep and I'm not going to spend another two and a half hours to figure it out'.

Thank you Kubrik, good work.

Note I liked the movie, but i had to watch it twice. Also, 2010 tried desperately to help fill in the plot points most people missed in 2001 which helped.

Worst movies? Ohhhh, there's been so many. Hmmm, I think I've intentionally blocked out a lot of memories of them, but some that still make me shudder are Garbage Pale Kids: The movie, Surf Ninjas, My pet monster, and Going Overboard, which I bought on DVD to watch, and is now a coaster.

Your friend studied "Josie and the *****cats" in college?  That'd make for an odd course.

One of the worst I've seen was this Italian (I think) horror movie that one of my friends made me watch last year.  It was basically a zombie movie set in New Orleans.  But it also had people falling off ladders only to be eaten alive by tarantulas.  In a library.  For no reason whatsoever.

I liked it too. There was a bad guy, just not a person. The heat, lack of water, etc was the bad guy. I saw it a couple years ago, but from what I remember it wasn't run-on. Maybe if I saw it again now it would seem like it...

My cousin somehow had a very strange movie. It started with a ninja walking into a cave and putting on a green Ninja outfit, and those Ninja shortswords, and shuriken. He says some words about revenge on America, and then attacks a golf course in Miami Florida, attacking a man and this blonde woman. The man and woman jump into a golf cart and try to get away. When it the ninja eventually caught up to them the man jumped out and tried to fight back with a golf club. He was cut down, and the blonde woman did the slow, bouncy, "horror movie" run where she fell after only a few steps and the ninja stabbed her. Then, a police car came from nowhere, strange because the couple didn't have a cellphone and they were alone in the middle of the golf course. The cops try to run over the ninja, while the passenger seat officers fires wildly out the side of the car. The ninja lead the keystone cop car to a cliff and it drove off and blew up. Then a police helicopter came out of nowhere, and the passenger cop fired wildy at the ninja. The ninja threw shuriken at it and the props blew off and the copter crashed. Then six motorcycle cops wielding machine guns came, the ninja just ran between them and they shot each other. Then the army nukes Miami and the ninja dies.

I don't know what it was called, it didn't have subtitles, I just knew he said America and my cousin new a bit of Japanese to translate "revenge"

While the rebels were all americans fighting for the American way and apple pie against the evil empire based on Japan? I never noticed that the Empire was supposed to be capitalist. Seems to me that, if anything, they'd be communists, since they're clearly evil Unamericans. Star Wars shows that America is the rightful defender of the universe against all of the evil that isn't America, God bless America, etc.

Although that's just my interpretation of the message of Star Wars. More likely, it's just a vacuous sci-fi interpretation of the Samurai/Western genre.

And the fact that girl is supposed to be like 6 years older than him (If you look at Starwars 1) but looks younger.

They could get away with that to some degree, since her face was usually covered in makeup and her body covered in large costumes during the first episode we didn't really get a good sense of what she looked like. And 14 is much closer to being an adult then 8, which is why they could keep Natalie Portman, but had to change Anakin.  I know people who are 24 and look very similar to when I knew them when they were 14.

Hmm.. the WORST movie? :-\

Cube 2: Hypercube

Among other reasons, Cube 1 and Cube 2 were apparently never released in commercially nor
were there any commercials although this isn't the most important reason why it sucked.

Okay to begin the tirade of things that sucked about C2HC was that it used only 3 sets in the
entire movie (The Hypercube, A room with glass bed tubes, and a warehouse).

The plot was murky and boring, It started with some teenage girl getting out of a glass tube-like
bed and running into a small square door in the wall (like a vent except bigger). The movie
then continues in one of the zillion rooms in the Hyper cube, with 6-8 people who apparently
are linked to a military project of some sort.

Needless to say, when ever anyone of them remembers
this link (their reason for being there) the cube room turns death trap (such as a weird mirror/sharp glass floating ball, which was poorly rendered on a computer. or a furnace, and weirdest of all, Rapid Aging/time fast forwarding ). Skipping a few deaths  one guy goes crazy cannibal, finding hundreds of these alternate selves of each person, (he has 20 watches from the one guy and tons of ID tags from the girl) While this one woman goes searching for some scientist guy. In the end, everyone dies except this one woman, who rises from a pool in a warehouse, meeting face to face with some general dude, who says some cryptic speech then he turns away and the woman is shot executioner style

Overall the movie is annoyingly low-budget and is pathetic. Don't watch it unless you want to
waste 2 hours. In fact I'm embarrassed that it was Canadian, please don't think all Canadian
films are low-budget crap.

Try to top THAT one!!!

Only one which truly springs to mind is The Phantom Menace.

I don't care what George Lucas says - you don't ruin a genre for the sake of making a film "for your kids" - that film ruined Star Wars for me to be honest.  Revenge of the Sith was an improvement

Phantom Menace was bad, in retrospect, but back in '99 it was so exciting to see a new
Star Wars (I saw the originals on tape, not theatre, I'm only 15)

On the last part I agree, ROTS was the best of the prequels, but there's not much competition
so... ::)

So American Movie Channel and some others like it have had a lot of good classic movies lately. But the other night... Smokey and the Bandit: Part III. Now #2 was bad enough to kill the chain, but three was just downright painful. It was made in the era of post oil crisis and the cars were so under powered they had trouble doing stunts. At least it made Shrek3 seem a lot better.

Actually I liked Jude Law's character. I thought he was interesting. But yeah, I hated Haley Joel Osment's charcter. Then again I generally don't like him anyway so... The little stuffed bear was a but strange also. The creepiness was intentional though. They are meant to look and act human, but they aren't. And it's those little things which people find creepy that is used to seperates the humans from the robots. The something isn't quite right about them quality.

And lol, I thought the same thing when I read DG's post. I know what was meant it just sounded funny  :P

Well robot past also. I put the DVD in, the line says " Therefore, these robots are originals. They knew living people" Indicating that these are not humans of any sort. He was only frozen for 2000 years, not nearly enough time to see evolving in the case we see, unless it's engineered. They might not even know about what robots went through, which they learned from him.

The movie really should have just ended with him frozen.

shoot em up was one of, if not the worst move I've ever seen. I don't care if a movie is hyper-realistic or not, but this was absolutely ridiculous. A random guy off the street is able to kill about 100 guys with a pistol, even though those guys surround him and have automatic weapons and the guy's holding a baby at the same time. The "humour" was insanely corny and bad; the casting wasn't good; the guy had an obviously fake British accent (there aren't any real British actors now?); they tried to give him an interesting personality quirk, but they just made it so he likes carrots; the unsuccessfully try to add romance and sex (no idea how you can foul that up)... It's just the absolute worst movie I've ever seen.

Absolute Zero.  It was supposed to be a horror disaster movie, but it played like a comedy.  There was what I call a "running gag" in which, despite the fact that part three takes place over several hours, at the beginning of part three nearly everyone is out of the pool, yet throughout part three, it shows clips of people getting out of the pool.

It's about a group of Vietnam veterans who revisit their old war-zone; a movie that blows past cliches and the absurd into the land of "I'd rather slit my wrists than watch this." The most over-sentimental, cheesy piece of garbage to pass into my brain

A spoof comedy that's too silly for adults to enjoy, but to raunchy for the kids. I'd really started to enjoy John Leguizamo as an actor, but after this I simply cannot forgive him.

Pathfinder. Worst Movie Evar. Horrible Plot that made little sense and was eratic, maybe it was just me but I didnt really understand what was going on most of the movie. Action scenes were alright if sub par sometimes they would simply do it in frames. One slice of the sword and then two seconds later hes killing another guy in a completely different place in other words Lame.

I suggest you dont even rent it, stay away from this movie.

Eragon - Once again, just because it has the same name as the book doesn't mean it's anything like the book, and that bugs me.
Starship Troopers falls in to that category as well. At least Dina Meyer was a nice follow-on from Dragonheart. ;)

-Lego

The only thing that really really bugged me about Starship was you see the norgs of every chick in that movie except for the hottest one in it.

that was disappointing too...

I disagree. It is a good action flick but it's an even better satire of action flicks! Anyone who took it at face value should consider rewatching it.

Well what happened was...  :P My wife came to me and she said "want to see the worst movie ever?" So I of course agreed because I had little else to do and for once I totally regretted it because it wasn't even worth watching from that standpoint. It was so offensively bad.

Signs. Hands downt he worst movie I've ever seen.

Let me summ it up:

The dogs act wierd.
There are aliens.
The family hides in the pantry.
The alien sticks it's fingers under the pantry door!
The dad cuts of the aliens fingers.
They come out of the basement for a moment.
The son gets attacked
The alien gets killed and the family discover their only weakness (water).
The son survives.
They hide in the basement.

I mena seriously!  The world is being destoryed and you know the aliens only weakness, so why don't you share it?  Better yet, do something interesting for once in the movie, go hijack a firetruck and gun them down.  also, there's water in the atmosphere, so how can the aliens survive in the first place?

Post by: sltlamina on December 15, 2007, 04:05:19 am
I actually liked signs. Instead of taking the approach of most movies in which everyone is a hero they went for the more realistic approach of a single family trying to survive.

I agree with that point.

Just turn your brain off about the whole water thing and you'll be fine.

It's not as if there's a lot of water in the lower atmosphere anyway though, is there? So one could easily pass this off too couldn't they? Prolonged exposure would probably kill them, but nothing short termed.

Although if it kills you I have no clue why you'd visit a planet that's covered in more than two thirds of the stuff :D

Norbit, another lackluster performance from Eddie Murphy. The bad thing is I was expecting to get a laugh out of this for its comedic value, but in this film there's not an once of it to be seen. Well I saw this on cable, and I was pretty much forced to watch it (which I forgot to mention). But I had to say I watched it just so I can put the review on Rotten Tomatoes.com. Other wise I kept hearing that the movie sucked, so I had to eventually review it. Long story short this film is at the bottom of the barrel, an out loud bad comedy that should have been aborted since its conception of thought.

Another bad movie ATHF Movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqua_Teen_Hunger_Force_Colon_Movie_Film_for_Theaters), if anyone knows what I am talking about than good.
I am actually a fan of the show and I expected the movie to be decently good but when I noticed.
There was less of a plot than the show because the writers, "ran out of steam" for a plot half way through the movie really made it bad. At first it seemed to have a decent story that made some sort of sense but after 20 mins it got off track worse than the show. Well at least it is an 87 minute flick, I only the fans to enjoy the joyride of this plotless story gunk. :P

Only issues I have with Jumper (which I saw today) the story really isn't stable, Hayden Christensen is still a wuss, and there was no real villain death or final battle. Also I need to note the useless characters like the second jumper guy that was working with Hayden. No spoilers but they don't exactly team up like I expected. It could have been a greater film but the directors didn't put enough time and effort into it. It feels like everything was just tacked on, not even glued if you catch my drift. But the plus is the CGI in the film, it was very spot on, and the acting was up to par.(More than what I expected from Hayden :P)

Lastly it was kind of short, I mean shorter than you expected; the plot could have went on longer that is.

*All* Disney movies? A bold statement there. Are you seriously saying that The Lion King or 101 Dalmatians were bad movies? All of Disney's recent in-house efforts have been worse than terrible, but that doesn't make their entire back-catalogue bad.

V for Vendetta.

I really enjoyed V for Vendetta. It was an intelligent superhero movie and was very slickly made. From what I've read it wasn't very true to the graphic novel, but from what I've read of the graphic novel a faithful adaptation would have been totally unwatcheable.

When me and my friend were little (VERY LITTLE) we made up lava bird and water shark, we got so pissed when this movie came out

I have to agree with an eralier post. The utterly worst movie I have ever seen was Shark Boy and Lava Girl.

THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THAT MOVIE.

Every single thing about it is wrong. The actors, the plot, the name...
It was actually good for a Disney movie.  The 3-D was terrible though.  I really liked it.

Kill this Man, right now!
I was waiting for someone to mention Shark Boy and Lava Girl, i saw it when it came out.
My Dad fell asleep and swore it was the worst movie ever, like cmon!
The shark is in a rubber suit that like bent.
The Superheros are all his imagination from his book, OH GOD IT WAS TERRIBLE!
And Btw i heard that a 14 year old kid wrote it, and it got made into a movie.
Sadly he was assasinated because it sucked so dam hard!

It was a really excellent movie for its demographic.  Now, if you were expecting anything more then a kid's movie, you should have watched a movie that didn't come from Disney.

I just rewatched Escape From New York again after so many years. I won't say it was the worst, but man, does it not hold up well to the test of time at all. Adrienne Barbeau was the only redeeming feature in the whole thing. By modern standards it is bad for a 'made for Sci-Fi' movie.

I'm not trying to provoke you. I'm simply stating my opinion of the movie. To be honest, we rented it because our memory of it was that it was a very good movie, but having rewatched it, we should have let it rest in our memory rather than tried to refresh it.

I wasn't aware that there was a remake planned, then again, I think the only remake of any movie that I've liked better was Mel Gibson's Hamlet. Hollywood isn't very good at remakes.

They're not even warfare movies anymore. Way too political, with subplots everywhere. When I go to see a war movie, I want it somewhat Americentric and action-packed, not filled with political stuff I already know and Hollywood can't depict realistically anyway. Historically correct and fair and balanced is best, of course.  :)

The worst movie I have ever seen was the Super Mario Bros. Movie. When I was about to watch it, I thought it would be like the video game. It actually had very little to do with the game, and the sapient dinosaurs were just simply people who lay eggs. Not to mention King Koopa shouldn't of been a person! Rather than the cute, cartoonish style of the actual video game, it had quite a dark atmosphere. The goombas and koopas were abominations, and the only thing that looked remotely like anything from the game was the bob-omb.

Slarti, you should know better than to acknowledge the existence of Starship Troopers. It makes small children cry and Plan Nine from Outer Space uneasy in its throne.

But why would they make a sequel to something that was so awful in the first place?

"A Walk to Remember"  I went and saw it with a girl that I was really considering breaking up with.  I guess the final nail in the coffin for this nightmare of a relationship was the part where Mandy Moore changed the radio station from heavy metal to something "sweeter" and my girlfriend at the time looked up at me and said, "That's so much like us!"

"From Justin to Kelly"  Hands. Down. Worst. Movie. Ever.  I will admit that I watched this.  I took my then girlfriend and now wife to this because she was a big American Idol fan (and because she had suffered through Final Destination 2 with me).  After it was over I was like "I am not sure what you thought of that, but I wasn't entertained." The she said "I didn't want to see it in the first place."  Dang could have saved $15.

Either The Island or its (likely) inspiration, Gatica.

Oh damn, gattaca was so bad. Hah, pun, I get it, they're the...whaddayou call em, nitrogenous bases in DNA...GTAC, I mean.
But still, there are reasons that people with heart conditions don't go into space. And what's wrong with wanting better genetics? Uhh..let's see...potentially more men/women than women/men? More people with one eye color? Advantages: *insert long list of genetic disorders that would be cured.*

I really wonder what those people were thinking when they made that movie.

Considering the Nazis where into the whole genetics/eugenics thing I think there's every reason to be worried, and cautious, of genetic profiling. I want cures for genetic diseases as much as the next man, but I don't think the premise of Gattaca(apart from the space program) is unrealistic at all.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

Who paid money to make this piece of crap? I was channel flipping and hit this just as the attack was about to begin.

Most of the scenes with ships exploding or on fire were built in the 1980s (Oliver Hazard Perry class frigates).
People are shooting anti-aircraft guns are the sky where there is no aircraft (since they are CGI I guess the director didn't bother to try to sort that one out. Half the AA gunners would have been straffing the ships next to them (and their crews).
Only 350 planes attacked Pearl Harbor and for some reason ten of them dropped bombs on the parking lot of the hopsital?

and the capper (crapper?)... the base Admiral is out in the middle of the harbor pickup wounded sailors when someone just hands him a telegraph... in the middle of the flippin' harbor? They didn't have portable fax machines back then.

If you want to watch a Pearl Harbor movie, rent Tora Tora Tora.

How about The Langoliers? That movie was just... wierd, what with the creatures that 'ate' the past, making time travel into the past impossible... according to the movie at least.

Edit: Just checked Yahoo Movies for Langoliers and its based off of a Stephen King novel, so no wonder its wierd.

Two more words, Pluto Nash

It was meant to be a comedy movie, despite the cliche'd theme, and I did find it funny.

As far as GATTACA, yea the premise was based on real fears involving genetic maniplation and Eugenics. So, the premise is realistic. Also, I believe it was filmed at the height of all the Genetically Modified Organisms controversy.

Also Yahoo Movied GATTACA and it was actually filmed earlier than I thought, about the time when human genetic modification was bieng explored I think. Still, it was filmed in the early days of the whole ethical controversy involving human genetics.

I just watched the movie Death Sport. It falls under the category of "so ungodly terrible that you will fall in love with it". It has unneeded gratuitous nudity, really really stupid looking weapons, bad acting, fights where nobody actually touches the other person, sound effects seemingly stolen from Star Wars, Barbarian in the Future hero's , evil underlings that make Stormtroopers look like genius's, clear plastic swords, and half of the movie is spent on motorcycles that are called "Death Machines".

It was pretty terrible, but in a good way.

Oh, and Alien 3000 is also a giant piece of crap. But to the point where it really does annoy you.

I watched S. Darko, its the worst movie ever made...
See the plot doesnt make sense, it copies its predecessor completely, the story has the same elements as the last, and it sucks delivering the magic of Donnie Darko, if you want to watch a movie that destroys your faith in humanity watch S. Darko. If you need a reason to kill yourself its S. Darko you ought to be watching. S. Darko is a recaffinated piece of crap, made only to humor the Producer who can sense the utter pain caused by the movie. The movie itself is an abomination from hell, trying to waste your life away

I watched Knowing yesterday. I must say, that was the worst waste of 2 or so hours of my life ever!

Mainly how everything from the start to the last 30 seconds seemed like filler: It was all futile! Plus it seemed to sneakily push religious beliefs on watches, in a bad way.

I must say Future is Wild (2003 DVD original version, not Discorvery Kids cartoon version) and, regrettably, The Mummy (original).

FIW:
1. it was pointless because they KNEW everyone who saw it would think it was pure fiction just because it was a movie.
2. it really didn't have any good parts...
3. they kept using the same footage instead of getting a "new angle." The Snowstalker and what-its-face rat got alot of screentime but it was only 4 actual different shots.
3. It actually LOOKS computer animated, which is odd, because they got a insane level of realism.

TM:
1. anyone who knows anything REMOTE about the Mummy knows the O'Connells live, the mummy is destroyed, and the other guys in the group all die.
2. they didn't actually get an "eye-less" face right. it looks like he closed his eyes, not got them ripped out.
3. *holds up religous symbols one by one* "no?" *holds up 6-pointed star of the Jewish* Mummy says "The language of teh slaves. I may have use for you yet." "And the rewards are great." *holds out pure gold*  (what's wrong with this? i don't knwo, but it doesn't seem right.)

your first point for each movie makes no sense...also, both of those were awesome, so I'm dismissing the rest of your points
Title: Re: The WORST movies you have ever seen.
Post by: Grazony on January 06, 2010, 10:55:21 pm
On your first point for "The Future is Wild" the reason people wanted to see it is the same reason that anyone would want to watch a science fiction movie. For the creativity of it. Such as Avatar or Jurassic Park. Those movies never happen in real life, but people still wanted to watch them. They just had a high budget for the creation of their ideas.
Second point on the TFiW, the "good parts" as you say it are actually seeing the animals themselves and how they would survive in their environment. I quiet liked the Flish(both ocean and forest), the Silver Spider, Megasquid, and the Desert Hopper.
Third point... You are correct on.
Your other third point it was really just a fiction documentary. It probably had to stay within its budget. Its not like it was going to be released in theaters anyway.

I thought it was pretty darn awesome, but thats only my opinion. So you I guess you could put it here in the The WORST movies you have ever seen topic if you want.

And for The Mummy... I don't really know much about it. Never really caught my interest so I never watched it.

Anyway, for bad movies I say New Moon, but you have to actually see it before you can review it. So meh.

It was made in 2003. Thats like saying the 1954 godzilla movie was horrible because they didn't use the amazing computer animation available now.

Wargames was good in its day, but did not hold up to the test of time. 8" floppy drive should be a HUGE tip off on how dated this movie is.

That and it was a Broderick/Sheedy flick, both of them were HUGE back in '83.

The USAF general from that movie did have some great one-liners. "... I'd piss on a spark-plug if I thought it would help!"

I think Ironman2 was a pretty terrible movie,

and Greenburg,

and Brick

I was originally only going to list one movie, but once you get started thinking of bad movies, it's hard to think of which on was worse, so I had to list them all
