UFO destroyed = respawn on home planet

http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=13487.0

That would make sense since when you die in the cell/creature stage you go back a generation to 'modify' your creature/spaceship to better survive the enviroment.

Actually, I think the latest news has your creature respawning at your home nest if you die.  While you could reload it to any previous stage, the respawning seems a bit more lenient.

I'd assume you'd start over at the beginning of the Civilization stage or at the last Checkpoint (IE the last time you filled up one of those tiny bars on the larger gauge).

Don't know, but in a PCGamer preview the guy played the civ stage and lost.  I have the magazine around somewhere, I'll try and dig it up tomorrow to see if he says what happened, though if I remember correctly that was about when his time was up.

I think that AI should have the ability to destroy planets but not to the same effect of the player.

In one of the very recent interviews (sorry, I don't remember which one), one of the developers said the Maxis team could barely beat the game on hard.  Also, if it's true that someone from PC Gamer lost in the Civ phase, the AI won't need super powers to create a challenge.  Everyone at PC Gamer can kill you in any game they want because they are better at it.  If what killed them is not challenging enough for you, I'm sure Blizzard will have something to satisfy your appetite.  Or you could try playing You Have To Burn The Rope, at http://www.mazapan.se/games/BurnTheRope.php.

He's being sarcastic.  If you want hard, you Wanna Be the Guy (it's a game called I wanna be the guy)

I found the mag, the guy lost because he was distracted by his own city, and a graphical mistake (health bars of enemy same color as his civ's color, but it's been fixed) that a upstart religious civ kicked his but.  And this was their RTS fanatic, it was in the April 08 issue if you want to read for your self.  From the screenshots it looks like his creature was one of the infamous blobs, and it was pre-created...

I checked out "burn the rope" it was somewhat fun the music is pretty funny.

Anyway when a civ dies I wonder if there's a way to command another force like your ally or enemy that is most like your civ's personality.
