Spore: General / Does the Hologram actually do anything? (Spoiler?)
« on: September 09, 2008, 04:34:11 pm »
The Hologram is weird. Ive tried contacting tribes people with it but nothing happens. Is this tool useless?

Im a bit dissapointed because I was hoping that you could beam down your race and have a creature phase like interface. But sadly It's just this slow fuzzy figure that does absolutely nothing.

Spore: General / Restarting space?
« on: September 07, 2008, 12:51:01 pm »
Hello thur!

Ive just been playing the game up to space and I have been aggressive all the way (on easy).
I seem to have gotten my self into a bit of a pickle though. Im struggling to earning any money and Im constanty being attacked after foolishly making alot of enemies early in this stage.
So is there a way I can start the space phase again?

You know Im sure Im doing something wrong with this spice stuff. Only earning 10.50 and hour....

Spore: General / The singing deaf.
« on: August 25, 2007, 06:31:22 am »
Ok this is something odd thats just come to my attention.

After recently watching one of the new trailers of spore it shows a purple cell like creature singing to its pal. However how the hell do they sing to one and other if they are both as deaf as bricks?

Lemme guess..its a game. I'm sure I have seen ear parts... I suppose they probably just heighten awareness stats eh?
It would be a funny touch though if you had a tribe of creatures that had no ears and when they perform their rituals they just make a huge unorganized racket.

Any thoughts?

Console Games / Prototype (the game)
« on: August 01, 2007, 06:28:32 am »
Just recently heard of this interesting new game called Prototype by Sierra. Theres hardly any news on it just yet but it looks like one to watch out for. Heres a small article at Gamespot
There are also some game informer scans hanging around the net.
From the sounds of its a dream come true, Super mutant powers in a free roam setting. Who ever you kill you can take their memories skills and also transform into them, theres also an element of parkour I believe.

Spore: General / How big is willosaurus compared to a human?
« on: September 05, 2006, 10:34:56 am »
Hey peeps, Im trying to get an idea of the scale in spore. You see I want to make this really big troll like creature and I know that the size limit is an elephant however I find it hard to get a sense of scale with some of these spore creatures. For all we know willosaurus could be as big as a cow or a small as a mouse because being on a planet that is procedurally generated Anything could be any size..Do you know if will has given any size comparisons? Also when you a free spore maker in the ufo will there be size limits there because everything is free?

Spore: General / Spores as gods.
« on: August 28, 2006, 12:26:47 pm »
Im rather interested in this feature of spore. Having your creatures pretend to be gods. It would be awsome to see the lesser creatures on other planets sacrificing others for gifts from the gods. Building statues and monuments of their gods. Then if the gods arent happy they will genetically engineer beasts to destroy all who fail.

What godly things have I missed out that would be fun?
Post your ideas.

Spore: General / BIG creature inspirations.
« on: July 15, 2006, 02:35:44 pm »
Ok because Im a lovley person I thought youd like some inspiring creature designs.
Here are various links to different threads of interest.
Edit: When you click on this thread in each catagory there is a winner, but there are also if you look just above the winner you can view all entries so basically theres alot of creatures to look at!!

I hope this isnt looked as being spam. is an art community for proffessionals and amateurs to show their work.
There are aload of activities and one of them is a creature of the week contest.  I thought you guys might get some good ideas for your own works.

And heres a poster of all the creatures ever posted in the creature of the week activitie so far (well I think its all of them..sorta..)

Spore: General / The Galactic Games!!!
« on: July 14, 2006, 10:08:29 am »
Note this is just an idea for an expansion in the future. apologise if made before im too lazy to search.

Every so often groups of solar systems hold small olympic type tournaments with every spore species competing for gold. Of course its not going to be the whooole Galaxy because it would take ages to go through a tournament. so mini tournaments could be held for fun.
The main aim is to win as many different events as you can trying to be the most all round creature.
"You may cheer, you may cry, You might even get a cheap laugh or two" (family guy quote)
This could be wear you get to control your creature personally.

So lets see how this would work, Different bodie parts affect you in different ways so lets see for example.
The size of the creature determins wieght and strength, as well as the limbs the creature has. so if your a large creature with big arms your going to be strong but come other events your going to be slow in travelling.
Grippers affect control of handling objects such as spear throw.
Eyes affect aim.
legs stabilite and speed and jump?
(add your ideas own ideas, these are just simple brainstorms)

Game types
Shot put
Three legged race jk
Sumo wrestling
eating contest?
amphibian challenge
wieght lifting
high jump
long jump
erm..I cant think of any more.

Have fun and post your own thoughts peeps.

Spore: Creation Corner / My 3d Spore (Parasite update)
« on: June 12, 2006, 12:06:32 pm »
Ive just been dossing around with a demo program of zbrush and was suprised how easy it is to use compared to cinema 4d You can make some pretty amazing monsters with this tool its also very fast and simple took me around 15 minutes to make this. This was the software used to make the lanky creatures on Kamino in starwars, anyhoo enough jibber jabber of software heres what ive created. ive only had it for two days so dont expect anything amazing.

Some more fun!
Heres a randomquick concept off my head..most of it you need to make up on ur own though. (btw i dont know how to make bodies yet lol)

Chubby cheeks
This guy was going to be quite cute, but then i thought sod it ill add some texture to it.

Poo Thing
Yes thats righht it is a creature that pretends to be a poo. Its a very strange creature indeed, Believe it or not but the excrement of animals is a very popular place in terms of small prey. This creature basically sits and wates for small insect and gobbles them up. Fortunatley its very squishy so when trodden on it will just go "Blooob" it also bears suckers so it doesnt get kicked around. Mating is inteed hard because when your natural smell is infact poo, then your going to have a hard time attracting ladies. Thats why its an Asexual!!

Another, Geez this is adictive!
A Parasite
Feel free to add your own descriptions to some of these i wouldnt want the images going to waste. except the first guy hes taken :P

Spore: General / Slave nation? such as a mining planet.
« on: June 03, 2006, 12:13:59 pm »
Having just watched doctor who, i was inspired that perhaps we could have a slave nation. It could be like, they think you are gods, and you give them simple tasks like mining and construction. You could perhaps also genetically modify to make the perfect worker. Although i can see this being unlikley due to some morals.

hmm, so which would be worse, Blowing up an enemy planet, wiping out the population and mining the whole of their planet sapping everything you can get from it, Or enslaving the life on the planet to do ur biding.

Spore: General / Good idea in terms of scaling the creature
« on: May 29, 2006, 04:14:11 am »
I just had an interesting idea, its not brilliant but i thought i should contribute.
Right so i was thinking, I want to have a play around and make a a really small humanoid creature but the creation process would be a little tricky, Because you have to shrink the arms hands eyes, etc individualy. So i thought of this, How about you create your creature (no scaling involved) and then once you have created your complex creature on a more visible scale there should be an option to shrink the whole creature in one go?
It would make life alot easier.

Spore: Creation Corner / The creators (with 3d goodness)
« on: May 24, 2006, 01:22:45 pm »

Calling these beings "creatures" would be declared rude, they may not be beautiful to the eye, but the complexity of their minds is a sheer site to behold. also believing that living in waters is a limitation, then youd be very wrong.
These creatures live under the vast oceans on "unnamed" They are around 4ft in height and bare several simple small tentacles. they possess several eyes for handling complex tasks simaltaniously. Their frontal mouths are very flexible and great for eating up large prey whole, this is simply because their graspers are not strong enough to tear flesh appart.
In the early existence of these beings they found it very hard to stay atop of the food chain, because their bodies were not effictiant to survive. The only thing keeping them alive was their intelligence. eventually they discovered that they could manipulate their surrounds to help them survive just like humans infact. over hundreds of years they created a legacy even greater than that of us human. They had entire control of the oceans. After having a strange encounter they discovered another intelligent, except this race was on land. They were a biped race very large, around 7ft in height Very strong and quite an agressive community.
It was infact the land race that discovered The creators first, using some form of vehicle that could tavel underwater.
The creators did not like the idea of being second best on this planet. So every single one of their species joined and massed a gigantic reunion. new technologies were then created, much different to what they had created before. These new technologies were specifically for war. This was a great leap, because not only would they be conquering the planet, buy they would also be conquering the environment. Their proudest inventions was enviro suits specifically modelled on their enemy. They figured that if the land intelligence was so sucessful, it was because of their sheer physical power.
After many years the perfect army was ammassed. The creators ripped the enemy to shreads thus leading to complete control of the planet.

Now after a more hundred years or so the creators were at a state of extreme power in technology. They now believed themselves to be Gods!
They were walking with the stars now. Being incredibly curious beings they traveled to planets examined different races, testing the laws of genetics. effectivley trying to become the gods they believe themselves to be. Now there is an irony to this story. They became gods in the end, lesser races worshipped them, they created new life and watched it grow, But one day a remarkable scientist of their kind came up with a question that no one had ever raised before, "If we are so perfect and at our purest time, why is it that when faced head to head with another species in non handicapped battle flesh on flesh. Why are we so pathetic? Should we try to be the best we can trying to achieve every goal possible by genetically changing our bodies or would this strip us of our godlyhood, really just making us the powerhungry mortals that every being truely comes from? Meaning will we always be mortals?"
The dilema was a major disheartening thought. whilst these creatures strive to be the best because of their it is their natural behaviour they still wish to be of the purest power and cannot accept that they are inferior, so how can they win this battle? The creators could never make their minds. Until they drove themselves to insanity from this discomfort thus leading to a galactic suicide of their own race.

"No matter how powerful you are and how much you try to achieve, you can never be a pure god unless you are born a god" This is a quote from the land enemys they encountered. a small number of them had somehow survived and formed a small intelligent community.

So who really is the most intelligent?

Ok please excuse me if there are a few faults in gramma etc, i still need to take a test to see if im dyslexic.

Spore: General / Long tongue (like a frog)
« on: May 24, 2006, 11:55:00 am »
I was just thinking, it would be an interesting idea if your creature had a long shooting tongue like a frog, ant eater, chameleon etc.
Although im not really sure how it would work because there wont be any tiny bugs, unless calculating the size of the creature and its prey it may work. E.g. elephant size can easily gobble hamster size. what are your thoughts on this people?
