Interesting choice.  Biden can be a bit of a loose cannon.  People say that McCain has a temper, but I've seen Biden flip out on camera a few times.

I don't know whether to like Biden or not, form what I can learn about him on the Internet.

I liked his efforts to help young working-class people learn skills and get into College easier; but then he seemed to be very much a warmonger and that worries me.

I'll give both side supporters a few days to start piecing together/tearing apart Biden. What little I know about him is some plagiarism accusations from the 80s.

Well it appears that he is another far left wing liberal which wasn't a really good choice by Obama. Normally you try to choose someone with a little bit of a differing viewpoint rather than having two people who are almost identical. It's called 'balancing the ticket' for a reason...

Far left is brushing up to the Extreme Left....Which Biden, and Obama for that matter, are a long way from. Biden looks pretty centre to me.

Viewed from the British perspective, he may very well be moderate, but not here in America. We are talking about two different political spectrums here.

I don't suppose the thought occurs that measuring a candidate's position in the political spectrum on a scale relative to only his immediate peers within an insular system is unhelpful? That perspective only leads to political circle-jerking, and isn't going to improve people's lives. Progressive candidacies seek to change the norm, not simply reinforce it by accomodating extremists.

Uh, Europe comprises a great deal of the "west". It's the US that's more right-wing compared to most civilised countries.

That's just the thing. Obama is almost too progressive. Moving forward at the rate he proposes is too fast (in my opinion), but also not a very smart move. I like his energy and his want for 'change', but thats the thing. I don't think he truly realizes what the political system is truly like. Half the stuff he proposes won't make it past the drawing board.

I don't know, he seems like he could actually introduce something like universal health care, or large-scale energy reform to me. Maybe it'll be difficult in the political climate but even if he can't, it's better to have someone who's working to change the system for the better even if they are aiming a little too far, rather than perpetuating or even regressing it.
