How should I go about this?
« on: February 21, 2010, 11:27:35 am »
I recently heard that this year's Otacon will be very close to me (meaning in maryland). I decided I wanted to go as Missingno for... no real reason. Now, I've got the plan: build it out of cardboard. But does anyone here have a better idea?

Cardboard seems like a good idea. You can basically do a modified Tetris block costume and paint the outside all glitchy.

Googles for an image because I have no idea what a 'Missingno' is.

Seriously? I mean, seriously, Lego? You don't know? Dear God. It was a glitch pokémon in the Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue games. Missingno. stands for Missing number, because the it didn't have a number in the Pokédex.

I thought you were smarter than that, Lego.

(This post was in jest. If you though it was serious, you have 5-year-old tapioca and salami stew for brains.)

All good ideas! Now, where do i get the boxes and how do I see out of the costume? Also, wheels or no wheels?

If you're in the continental United States you can easily get boxes (usually for free) from the Post Office. Otherwise check out office supply stores or try Google. You shouldn't have to use wheels, the costume will be fairly lightweight if done correctly. Make sure that you use big enough boxes. The costume should not be form-fitting as you'll need to be able to walk.

If it was form fitting I think you would have some other issues which would be best only discussed with a doctor.

(side note, other than Nuclear War, Roborally, and Munchkin, I know nothing of the card games that killed both RPGs and wargamming in one wild swing)

It should be easy enough to make, though I can't help but feel it's innately creatively lacking... I mean there's only so many ways you can recreate a block of glitchy static. Maybe another option would be better if you're up for doing something creative to wear? That is unless the humour is the focal point here, in which case go for it.

Humor has ALWAYS been the point of this. I might be able to get a preliminary sketch up soon.

Have a friend of yours walk around with a "wild MISSINGNO. appeared!" sign in front of you like the one Danzik posted, but enlarged.

Preferably printed than hand-written.

Or of course you could attach a cardboard tube to the front and glue the sign to the other end.

Stop it Rysworld.

Obviously you've picked up some bad posting habits from other members. Don't give me a reason to ban you!

But I digress. What costume(s) is/are your friend(s) going in?
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

1. Where's this offensive post Rysworld made?

2. By the way, I have also learned of this site: http://www.trsrockin.com/missingno4.html

Go there. They know all about Missingno.

Oh, Trsrockin?

I used to go there. They used to be mainly pokémon cheats, but now their more cosplay costume tips than anything else.
