Hey Steve are you going to do a video podcst?  I just got the new video ipod and I'd love to have a visual as you could show game clips and other cool things in the pods cast.

Thanks :)

Thank you, as you have just been Lazered

That would be cool. Maybe a Name that Game contest, only with video clips (Though that might be too easy). However, with how long Steve's shows can get, I can only imagine how much space it'll take up!  :D

Is there any possiblility of a video podcast...it'd be a lot more interesting escpecially with betas (such as the auto assualt one, and the Rise of legends one) so we can also see steve and his inside looks at games.

Perhaps in the future, but right now it's just regular old podcasting. But I am looking into it...

Maybe you only do video podcasts for things like betas and the like; It'd be cool to have a few video podcasts, but it is nice to just put the audio one on my iPod and listen when Im running or something.

Yeah, no offense Steve, but when I listen to your podcast I usually have it in the background as I play a game. Then I listen, but zone out and realize that what you were saying was interesting, then I go back. It would be nice to have something visual to make me more attentive.

I hope if you ever decide to do a video podcast you don't just do a video of the same content of the audio version. Usually when podcasts do this the audio version is neglected and people starts talking about things that you can only understand in the video version. Problem is if you only do a video version without neglecting the audio version it's not that interesting.

I would really prefer something like the 1up show/1up podcast for example, 2 different podcasts, one audio the other video. Each one has different contents so you don't have any of the problem above. The video has great visual content (game review would be even more interesting) and audio has all the great talking info.

Anyway, i hope you continue doing a great podcast (that's the most important thing).

thanks

If you have the video you don't really have to worry about space, now battery life, that lasts about two hours when watching videos.
And Steve, that would be cool if you did a video podcast. G4 has some good video podcasts here, http://www.g4tv.com/webexclusives/features/53051/G4_Podcast_Directory.html.

If it can hold photos, I have heard of a really weird way to watch movies. Take each frame and put it on the iPod. Then take the movies sound and sync it with the pictures. It would be really annoying to flip through hundreds or maybe thousands of pictures. I woudn't do it, because it looks tedious, but if you wanted to look in to it.

A video podcast? Well, I'd have to say it entirely depends on what can be done with it.

It would be really cool if you could show pictures of the games you are talking about, instead of just you in front of your computer. Like when you are reviewing a game, you could show some clips of the game.

I suppose you could do something similar to Gamespot's video game reviews. The way they have clips from the game/images etc, then have clips of the person talking, you could probably do something like that with each of the topics you talk about.

you could even do a video tour of a game, and show us how the game works, ect. That would be really cool.

That or just a video podcast for all the reviews. Like if he was reviewing Wow, he could show videos of Wow he while he was talking.

Maybe a 5 minute video podcast.

Love the audio podcast and I think the addition of an occasional vidcast (or IPTV show) would be great!

I will probably TRY to do one in the semi near future. However, I am not promising anything just yet. One (major) issue is that I don't have the correct hardware (and software) to do a video podcast. So after I get all the necessary equipment I can give it a try.

I actually have a few things in mind... And if I do it correctly my first video podcast should be QUITE memorable! Heh, you'll just have to wait and see...

Let the rampant speculation begin:
We finally get to find out that Steve lives in a futuristic dream house with robot servants and chrome furniture.
Or maybe it turns out that Steve is a shape-shifting alien that can turn into video game protagonists as a party trick :P.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Hey everyone, first post!

Now, as to the video podcasts...It's been noted above, and I tend to agree. I used to only listen to the Diggnation audio podcast, but eventually they started neglecting the audio version, so I switched and the space it takes up is kind of ludicrous, as I'm sure it would be for the epic....yes...epic....Gaming Steve episodes. Also, like above, I listen to the podcast while I game, but I am able to take in what is being said, unless it's a heavily text orientated game. Playing FEAR for the second time through isn't all that mentally taxing.

I think that it would be a good thing to TRY, but that it would be unfeasible...at least for a while. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, the podcast is fantastic now and I would hate to see the video aspect detract from the information, which is the important thing. Of course, you could surprise me.

One method, as was hinted above, is perhaps to release certain things, fragments if you will, as video chunks. For instance, you could split the podcast so that the review/retroreview podcast is released with video, giving the opportunity to show clips.

For the regular podcast, a far better idea, in my mind, is what the Ricky Gervais Podcast does. If you watch it, you will see it has chapters built into it, and for each of those chapters, a different little picture is displayed. So the beginning of a show would have the Gaming Steve head, when you get into Game Talk, perhaps it could show a statistic or graph with game sales in Japan... I think this would be the best idea, as screenshots can be fitted to it, and it would take up far less space, and would most likely be feasible on your current hardware.
The reason I hate/Boycott Sony: "Most people, I think, don't even know what a Rootkit is, so why should they care about it?"
