This a good behind the scenes video for battlebots, with some interviews with competitors between certain fights. If you pay attention, it spoils the finals, which was surprising because it was posted before the final battles had aired.

Don't watch if you want to avoid spoilers.

Interesting to see that there were apparently several fights that didn't make it on tv.
Probably not a Goat, either.

I used to love the old Robot Wars PC titles and their ilk as a kid. Have there been any modern renditions, or at least announcements for an upcoming one seeing as battlebots has gotten a resurgence?

If there is, it'll probably be for smart phones.

Man I forgot I had that game... Hypnodisk was just as overpowered in the game as it was in real life.

There were two PC games, Arenas of Destruction and Extreme Destruction. And Hypno-Disc is just OP in reality, the games were just being honest.

I played the first one a lot when I was younger, Arenas, just because Extreme never got a stateside release to my knowledge. I think I tried playing it once a couple years ago and didn't like the feel of it compared to the original.

They've developed an anti-flywheel countermeasure.

Yep, that happened on the show.  I'm not sure if it was scripted or not, the reason given was that the new show did a lousy job of copying over the rules, so it was sort of a legal loophole.  They counted it as sort of a no contest and redid the fight.

Season two started this week.  Might be a little premature, but I feel the need to amend our "thing's we've learned about robot fighting" list.

5. Horizontal Spinners are better than vertical spinners.  Drums are better than horizontal spinners.

Minotaur and Hypershock were absolutely brutal out there.  This is the first time I've seen a robot get disemboweled  Bottom plate torn off, batteries and wires hanging out, it was such glorious carnage.
Nefarious?  Nearly.  Ne’er-do-well?  Never!  Neither nearly names this narrator.  Naive and knowledgeable, notorious and inscrutable, this nascent Nero is known naturally as Neoadept.

I love Chomps aim assist system. The robot is clumsy and built too tall, but that system redeems it.

"I have been building this robot since I was a wee lad. My father helped me build it. We were going bankrupt, we sold our house to purchase the mechanic shop that let us build our bot. My father couldnt make it, as he is currently suffering triple ultra mega cancer, but he will see our game. The robot we have built together for years will finally enter the arena!"

the robot is knocked out in 15 seconds.
