Spore: General / Is Spore Dead?
« on: April 04, 2010, 07:06:54 pm »
With the total lack of updates and announcements recently (sans the robot parts), do you think Spore will die? With the current financial situation Maxis is in, the future of Spore doesn't look so bright.

What do you think?

Spore: General / GA Problems!
« on: June 23, 2009, 04:10:39 pm »
After all that trouble of fixing my Spore by reinstalling, I finally installed Galactic Adventures. And when I start playing adventures, what do I get? THE GAME CRASHES!!!  >:(

Can anybody help?

Spore: General / New Spore APIs
« on: February 25, 2009, 06:32:01 pm »

The "Aquarium" and "Creature Battle!" was fun. "Sven's Creations", is quite useful, but the average rating I got was a bunch of crap. Since I am not a popular creator like Parkaboy, I bet 95% of those downrates were from stupid troublemakers who like downrating stuff to get people mad, even though the effected creatures I felt I put effort into.

But that aside, these APIs are pretty cool.

Spore: General / Funny Glitch
« on: December 29, 2008, 10:24:21 am »
While playing the Civilization Stage in Spore, I came across a strange glitch. There was a group of my species wearing tribal clothes. The funny thing is, they didn't have a hut! They were uncivilized and animalistic. Because of they are of that nature, I will term them "simpletons". The simpletons socialized with eachother in the forest, and then they, as a group, walk to the lake to drink from it. However, I called my warplane to kill them.  :D

Even more funny, they persist into the Space Stage!

I will post a video soon.

Spore: General / "Creation Culling" on Sporepedia
« on: December 25, 2008, 10:02:20 pm »
It has been announced in the official Spore forums that creations that have had no interaction for a while will be automatically deleted.

While I think it is good because it gets rid of the creations that had virtually no effort invested into them, but I think it is a bad thing because quality creations that have had no interaction could be deleted. I honestly don't want my first ever creature to be deleted, but it has at least two comments on them, so I guess it is safe.

Spore: General / The Spore Language
« on: November 23, 2008, 06:40:19 pm »
Post your interpretations of what the creatures are saying here.

Here are four of my favorites:

"Oh frezzi, oh obleclef! Triminaclaf, and rifeekacra flibber flute, grrr..."

"Bremin norshin, glah blah blah! And kleeva nominech condreminef! Anomina tuminat, zorphne."

"Piston shurn no piston turb! Ooh ba signaflergnerg, oh a brawlbliska!"

"Hur hur hur hur hur! You're really ground up in inzerg! Oh hobaba lipteep, ooh baba laba squip, oh, an hengi hortziquob, he he..."

PS: If this was already posted, please merge.

Spore: General / My Thoughts on the Creepy and Cute Parts Pack
« on: November 18, 2008, 10:13:44 am »
I just got the new Creepy and Cute parts pack. I like the new parts, but I am disappointed that the new mouths don't have new sounds. I thought they were going to have cute or scary sounds, but they don't. They have the same sounds as some of the existing mouths (i.e., the carnivore mouths sound the same as the carnivorous tetrapod mouths, the omnivore mouths sounding like the ungulate mouths, and the herbivore mouths sounding like the frog or turtle mouths).

Does anyone else feel the same way about the mouths?

Spore: General / The Glitch Thread
« on: September 26, 2008, 07:46:00 pm »
I've decided to just make a general topic about all of the glitches in Spore.

Here is the list:
  • Sometimes when you save a creature, its' .png looks all screwy and the creation platform is seen, and sometimes, it looks like there is snow covering them.
  • In the space phase, my empire color suddenly changed from cyan to yellow.
  • When you leave a terraformed planet but then come back to it, it returns to its' previous state (i.e., water disappears).
  • Some circles (i.e., the spot where you select an area with) stay on one world, but some target circles appear on all worlds after they appear.

Post any more glitches you know so Maxis can fix them. If there is already a glitch topic, you are more than welcome to merge this one.

Spore: General / Glitches in the Space Phase that Need to be Fixed
« on: September 17, 2008, 06:11:37 pm »
The Space Phase is fun, but it has some glitches that bother me.

  • When you enter a planet that you have terraformed, the water disappears, or at least have it at the level it was originally at.
  • Some circles (i.e., the spot where you select an area with) stay on one world, but some indication circles appear on all worlds after they appear.

Maxis, please fix these glitches in a patch. Thanks.

Spore: General / Evidence for New Parts
« on: September 01, 2008, 05:04:06 pm »
The mouth on the microbe underneath the Spore Origins logo isn't one we can select in the Cell Stage. I find this as evidence for new parts that may be included in an expansion.

This mouth can also be seen in the "Spore family" picture that Hydromancerx took during Spore Community Day.

Spore: General / Asymmetry Glitch
« on: August 01, 2008, 08:10:39 pm »
While toying with the Creature Creator, I have came across a strange glitch. I placed a limb in the the center of the body, enlarged the vertebrae, seperated the limb, and then I got asymmetrical extremities. The other arm could be modified to change the bigger one. Unfortunately, I couldn't save it, because "Spore was not able to load this file."

Spore: Creation Corner / Anthropomundus
« on: July 23, 2008, 09:06:22 pm »
Anthropomundus is a world-building project of which life diversifies from a genetically-modified species of tiny, fetus-like post-humans on an alien world that is similar to Cambrian Earth. All aquatic flora and other biota have been imported into the planet as well, with the singular species of human being the only animal life on the planet. The land is, however, barren.

25 million years later, there was already an explosion of diversity, from swift, fluked predators, to colorful seaweed-eating browsers, to sedentary filter-feeders, to terrifying parasites.

I've been developing this project for some time, but I thought you guys would think it would be cool too, so I'm showing it to you. For now, I will post the picture and the description of the common ancestor:

Improbonexizoon fetoides is a tiny, swimming human, measuring up to 0.3 millimeters. They live on a planet that is very similar to Cambrian Earth. They were reduced to such a small size, and they were to be the only animal species to live on the planet. It feeds exclusively on algae and other edible particles. Gills were genetically re-invented, as its' lungs were removed through genetic manipulation. There are no opposable digits on the hand, which are completely webbed. Eyelids are completely lacking, as this tiny human lives in water. Its' coccyx is extended, thus its' tail is regained. Its' skeleton is made entirely of cartilage. Even its' facial features have changed; the nose is blunted, the lips were transformed into two tentacles, which act as touch-receptors.

Being so small, and living on a planet with no other animals, the future is quite promising for these little creatures.

By the way, I already have the descendants drawn, I've just haven't shown them to you Gaming Stevers yet.

Spore: General / "Sporn" has Made it Into the News
« on: July 03, 2008, 11:16:22 pm »
Well, it was inevitable.

It even mentions how the pirates who got ahold of it early were making some of the most nastiest creations their perverted minds could think up.

Though article was created on June 20th, this is still a bit shocking. Of course, the genitalia-shaped creatures are now being removed as they are uploaded.

Spore: General / The Ratings System
« on: June 20, 2008, 03:58:14 pm »
I have stated before that I don't really like the thumbs system.

That angry face is just pure hostile, if not insulting. It's like, say, you baked a cake for a party. You spent a lot of time on it, and you are quite proud of it. You bring it in, everyone tries it, but they do not like it, and they start to abhor you. Those are exactly my feelings about that face. In other words, to me the angry face conveys "Your creation sucks! You suck! Don't upload anything on Sporepedia again! >:(". Or to put it in another way, it is just discouraging. I honestly don't like it. Also, when one person thumbed-down it when it had no ratings yet, the face is quite exaggerative.

I'd much rather prefer a frowning face, rather than a mean, hostile-looking one.

What is your opinion?
