Spore: General / Re: Tick and Flea levels
« on: June 06, 2005, 01:51:14 am »
Who is to say that the single-cell stage isn't taking place on or inside another creature. For all you know you could be curing some unfortunate creature who is suffering from an incurable disease. Then one day he stops off on a planet for a wee whilest on a long insterstellar journey and accidently wee's you on to that planet left to evolve.
Anyway I think a tick/flea stage wouldn't really be a stage, although it would be cool if you could evolve that small. You a brave lonely tick conquering the galaxy and enslaving behemoth sized creature so you can build a home for the future generations. I doubt this would happen but it'ld be fun.

It's not fair, I never remember anything about dreams. I don't even remember dreaming at all it's not fair. In fact I sometimes think that dreaming is a lie the whole world has kept running just to make me feel wiered. This post has made me sad, but I do like the idea of a bowl-headed creature eating a headcrab.

Portable Games / Re: Is the PSP to expensive?
« on: April 04, 2005, 10:39:06 am »
Why not just make a portable PS2? Here is a a link to someone who has made one. Maybe not a pocket-sized console, but portable nevertheless.

Also incase anyone is interested here is way to turn the psp's browser that is only ment for download's only into a fully functional web browser.

Since most of you can't afford the psp (like me) then I guess this will only be useful to a few people, if they don't know already. So there is a possibilty that this post is pointless, but I'll post it anyway.

Everything Else / Re: So ... how many Brits here?
« on: March 27, 2005, 06:29:36 am »
I don't post often, but I'm from England. Liverpool in fact, the scumiest city after Manchester. Although now we've been give Capital of Culture 2008, the city is getting cleaned and is starting to look like Manchester City Centre. It's horrible, also we're building the ugliest building ever on the Mersey water front. It's a building in the shape of an asteroid it's so ugly.
Anyway enough about England it's crap, I'm just working at the moment so I can leave and go to Thailand. I'ld love to live in Canada or Australia though, they seem to be the best country's to live.

" Starbug was built to last sir. This old baby's crashed more times than a ZX81. "

"Erm, I think we're losing sight of the real issue here, which is 'What are we gonna call ourselves?' Erm, and I think it comes down to a choice between 'The League Against Salivating Monsters' or my own personal preference, which is 'The Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation Into Society'. Erm, one drawback with that - the abbreviation is 'CLITORIS'."

"Get real man. Most eunuchs have got more balls than you. "

"I've seen Westerns, I know how to speak cowboy."
Steps up to the bar.
"Dry white wine and Perrier, please ."

" Broadcast on all frequencies and all known languages, including Welsh. "

" I'm so gorgeous, there's a six month waiting list for birds to suddenly appear, every time I am near! "

" I am Holly, the ship's computer, with an IQ of 6000. The same IQ as 6000 PE teachers. "

So many little jokes like that, which make this one amazing comedy.

By the way which Holly do you prefer, male or female. I think male Holly is by far funnier.

Does anyone know if this is has been or is to be aired on British TV?

TV / Re: Stargate SG-1

The thing I'm scared of happening about Stargate SG1, is that is runs on too long and ends badly. I'ld rather remember it the way it is at the moment and the way it has been in the past. It would really be cruddy if they pushed out another series that was crap, it would ruin it all for me.
Hopefully when Atlantis finally find a Z.P.M and connect back to Earth there will be a lot more to add to the SG1 series, maybe even the Wrath attacking our Galaxy and of course some more of the Ancients (goes without saying).
I've missed the begining of this Post, so I'ld like to take the time to say SG1 rules. Hopefully the new game they are making on the Unreal 2.5 Engine will be just as good.

The next Elder Scroll's Episode (Oblivion) looks to be amazing, I loved all the ones I played previous and this appears as if it's going to beat them all. An preview about it has came out in PC Gamer, which if all goes well I should have tomorrow if anyone wants any of those beautiful, sexy, scantilicious scans.
Oblivion is number one on my Games to aquire list, yes, even above Spore. I love everything to do with the Elder Scroll's and this is just going to send me into a frenzy. Here is a link to Oblivion on the Elder Scrolls website.

I'm thinking about buying it. I've been in Thailand for the last 5 months and missed a lot of games, only just completed Half Life 2 the other week! I'ld like to know what people think of this game as well, since I've been tempted to buy it but I'm a stingy person and the thought of spending ~40 and then being disapointed is scary.

No England's isn't that bad, yet. There seems to be a culture lag between the US and here. Whatever your crime levels are 10 years ago it seems to happen here. Gun Crime isn't that rapent though, although if you do mix with the wrong people you have a good chance of being shot. I think Gun Crime in the UK is low maybe 100 gun murders a year roughly, the real danger is clubbers after drinking. That's where a lot of the murders in the UK occur, people getting the **** kicked out of them by a mob of drunken scum. As I say mix with the right people and your okay, apart from that it's probably on par with countrys like Canada.
Anyway this shouldn't be in this topic anyway, if you really want to know more move it into another topic. Or we could find our bottoms quite sore.

Music / Re: GS Musicology 101

1) First album you owned/purchased?
Not too sure, maybe a band called Dodge. I can't remember though.

2) Most recent album you purchased?
Purchased??? Lastest album I...aquired was the Nirvana DVD special

3) First live show?
Never been to one

4) Most recent live show?
Never been to one

5) Most overrated musician?
Not too sure.

6) Most underrated musician?
Dave Ghrol, I don't love the Foo Fighters but the other bands he has helped are all good and his Probot album was good as well.

7) What's your musical guilty pleasure (i.e. name a musician/group that your gut tells you you shouldn't like, but you do anyway)?
The Proclaimers (Them two scot's with glasses rock)

8 ) Let's say you could go back in time and bring any one dead musician into present times? Who would you pick?

9) What's your poster-child "band that broke up too soon"?
Nirvana (They bloody broke up before I got into them, bastards)

10) Pick your dream band -- at the very least, vocalist, guitar, bass, drums. If you want to include a second guitarist, keyboards, theremin, lute, xylophone, whatnot... live it up, but you gotta start with the basics.
Vocal: Chris Cornell, Guitar: Slash, Bass: Death(from Bill and Ted), Drums: Dave Ghrol, Keyboard: Chopin, Xylophone: Patrick Moore, Flute: My big sister Cara.

11) Name one cover version of a song that whups the ass of the original.
Stand by Me (Covered by Pennywise)

12) Speaking of covers, name a song that always struck you as a great song if done by someone else.
Somwhere over the Rainbow... Way up high, there's a land that dreamt of, once in a lulaby.......

13) Pick a dream collaboration, i.e. artist A working with artist B.
John Lennon and Sid Vicious

14) Best album cover art? (No Spinal Tap references)
Spinal Ta.... damn... Erm most probably a lot of the Iron Maiden cover art.

15) Fat Elvis or skinny Elvis?
Fat Elvis (for comical reasons only)

16) If all four Beatles were still alive, would they have cashed in on a Millenium reunion concert?
Nope, John Lennon would be to busy in bed.

17) Will there EVER be a more unrealistic movie moment than Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees beating up Aerosmith in the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" movie?
Never seen it so I'll go with, No.

18) Bono has been mentioned as a candidate to head the World Bank. Would you let Bono manage YOUR finances?

19) Would you let MC Hammer manage your finances?
lol, erm... No.

20) Lastly, the infamous "desert island" question -- pick five CDs you'd take with you to a desert island. To add to degree of difficulty, no Greatest Hits allowed.
They would all be Porn VCD's, but since this is a musical questionaire I'll pick some albums, in no particular order.

Soundgarden - Superunknown
Nirvana - From the Muddy banks of Wishkan
Pink Floyd - The wall
The Procalimers - Sunshine on Leith
Bob Marley and the Wailers - Legends

Then I would sneek a lot more onto the Island in the same fashion as a drug dealer entering the UK.

I love Star Trek as well, didn't you like Voyager. I thought that to be better than Enterprise (although Season 4 has been the best so far and is sadly the last). TNG is obviously the best, unless you where a child when the original was created then your more likely to be inclinded to choose that. TNG has it all, battles, the future and Jean Luc Picard the greatest Star Fleet Captain ever who also enjoys classical litrature. Whatta Guy.

I hope it's online AND singleplayer. You can play online, or opt out if you find it too rough.

Online, it could incorporate a system where you could not annihilate a planet/civilization unless you have already made contact and they have responed in a hostile manner, or if they have technology at least equal to your own..
It would be good if it was online as well, but if you needed another player's 'species' to be hostile before your hostile. Won't that mean that you need to be hostile before they are hostile? Then you will have a lot of people saying it's not very realistic if you can't choose to attack/enslave another player's species. It would be better if they left that choice to the individual players. They could make it fairer by making it harder to find species that aren't advanced. (i.e Species that don't have any radio siginals won't be detectable and you'ld only come across them if you where exploring a system that appeared empty). Will Wright mentioned War of the Worlds so if he was to make it online (which I doubt, at least for this release or title anyway) he would want some space faring species to attack species who have radio signals etc....
Anyway that's my view, what's everyone else think about it being an online game, and how would you picture it to be?

Here is a website on Crime Reduction, with statistics on Crime in the UK if you're really interested, from what I see though in my area. Crime isn't that bad even though according to the rest of the country all Scousers (people from Liverpool) are theives and major criminals. I've never been beaten up by thugs nor has my house been robbed.
England is a safe place, but if you start reading all the government adverts that are being put up you'ld believe otherwise. The government are a bunch of old, dying fat targ's, who's ridges are fainter than a vulcan who has just had ridge reduction surgery.
Want to know anything else about this amazing country of ours simply ask again, but if I where you I would think about moving to Liverpool where all the really nice people live.
