Interesting. I would be careful, however: even a land-based creature can walk in and out of the surf, but that doesn't make it amphibious.

Regardless, I hope that you are right in your interpretation.

This is like the infamous religion threads, just with fanboyism rather than creationism.  ::)

wow KMR... I remember you well from your cool cat avatar, but you've become quite the lurker.  When I first joined here you had several hundred posts and now here we are several months later and you've got a couple more  ;D

I have this thing, it's called a life. I don't know if you're familiar with it.  ;D

Can you ONLY controle the UFO in space stage?  ???

Yes. But: You essentially control everything else through the UFO.

You yourself? Highly unlikely.

Can you beam down creatures onto the surface of other planets? Absolutely. This was also shown in one of the videos.

Spacesuits are unlikely, but there's always the domed colonies.

Straight from the lips of Will Wright himself.  ;D

As he is pulling away from the Screebles' home planet, Will says:
"We have a weather system, here you see some storms going on down there."
(Source: Wired/Robin Williams video @ 0:14:40)

I didn't see it in the recent sea of information, and thought this would be of interest to some people.  8)

The textural is done procedurally. Why? It allows for maximum compression.

I highly doubt we'll see custom painted texture.

A small aside here, if you don't mind: From what I understand the textures aren't done procedurally, they are applied procedurally. That means custom textures are not completely out of the question, and given Maxis' track record with custom textures for the Sims 2, I cannot imagine they would opt not to include something similar for Spore.

Who said anything about starting as a blob? You must keep in mind that the creature editor Will entered at the beginning of the demo was outside the currently running game. We never saw any footage of the cell-to-creature transition, so I advise you to hold your horses.

I for one welcome my new Draenei masters. ;D

Does it say that? Even the WMV version is so blurry I can't make it out, but my eyeshight's been going bad at a horrendous pace anyway.  :D

Well, even if it doesn't say special, there's still the difference to explain. Which do you think is the (more) final version?

A particular thing I noticed as I was watching the IGN/GameSpy recording of the E3 video was the discrepancy between what we could see of the editor in that video, and the screenshots we saw of it earlies (see aquaman's thread for that).

In particular, the video shows seven meters to the right whereas the screenshot only shows five. (It also says Strength where the video say Power, but that is just a semantic thing.) The two additional meters are called, from what I can decipher, "Sense" and "Special". The former is pretty straightforward, but the latter might be of interest for those that have been calling for special abilities. ;)

I realize I'm throwing bricks into the Grand Canyon, but it's "Abundance".

Ohhh, purple seas and spiral volcanoes! I'm all a-tingle!  ;D
