Trade Routes

I don't really understand...(or see) their purpose.  It doesnt seem to affect the bottom line financially for my empire.  Exactly what is their point.  (I may have missed this in the manual, if so my apologies).

From what I've seen, when I go back to my homeworld I get a different color spice (the color of the planet I'm trading with) as well as the color spice it's producing.

Also, Trade routes allow you to eventually buy star systems and make them your own.

That makes sense (I had actually noticed the different spice but didnt realize it was because of my trade routes).

Thanks.

Is there are max number of trade routes you can have?

there's a badge for having trade routes and you cant just cancel one nad re do it somewhere else for credits, so you have to buy a lot of systems.

You can't have more than 3.

You get a relationship bonus.

If you want to go the cheapeast buyout (1 million) go for a t0 planet, as the t scores go up so does the price:

t3 = 10 mill
t2= 5 mill
t1 =3 mill
t0 =1 mill
I survived the flood of 2008 and all I got was this crappy homelessness.

If they're ally points are 200+ you can buy them for one step lower. So you can get T3 systems for 5 mill
