I wouldn't mind watching my creature drag the carcus of that first one around haha

Anyone notice it's face go inside the body when it does the attack animation? It's only for a split second.

Three things to contribute:

Firstly, the third creature did not have a penis. It had a large tail that swept forward. I'm afraid I can't speak for the rest of you, but MY penis does not have a large sickle-shaped claw on the end of it just waiting to dice some poor prey to pieces. You are seeing what you want to see when you see a penis.

Secondly, I believe the second creature crashed because the creator -somehow- created pieces that were floating in midair. He attempted to delete one, but he missed another in his haste to go to the animation screen, and I believe that is why it crashed.

Finally, if you watch closely the pieces do resize, but only during an animation. This leads me to believe that instead of using the EXACT sizes and such of pieces, the editor uses approximations in the final product. I believe the game will ever-so-slightly modify your creature to make it more aesthetically pleasing, and also to make it easier to work in-game. I haven't said anything of this so far (but then again, I've only actually started talking on this forum recently), but evidence of this goes all the way back to the GDC '05 video. If you watch closely, the Willosaurus in-game has a much more rounded tail than the Willosaurus in the editor, whose tail was squashed and a bit kinked. Many other creatures have subtle changes between the editor and the game as well.

The GDC05, I think we've all agreed, used different save-points. So Will had to make the Willosaur look so and so, otehrwise people would notice right away that he just loaded another game. That's why there's differances(like the beak on the stomach bird he made during E3, he used the exact same design every time)

Hey everybody!

I didn't like the first creature. I laid out reasons why not. Just because you have a different opinion than me doesn't mean that I'm an ***hole or a crackhead. It just means that I have a different opinion. Last I checked, that's allowed.

So don't say "The first creature was fine, stop being a dick." Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I'm wrong.

I agree.  Its all about personal preference; I didn't really like the first one either, because I would be going more for a realistic creature than something funny like that.

the guy giggled when he gave it a penis, he added the claw as not to seem like a total prick

Don't you think they should release a early creature editor i mean OK it will have some bugs in it yes but who cares it's not like its the creature editor whats gonna be in the game the game one would be better but at least if they release a early one people will get Some idea of what the editor is capable of well thats what i think any way and it would bring back the hype as well

I can see what your saying here as Will did say that all theeditors are pretty much finished. So why couldn't they just release the creature editor, well for starters they would have to waste time producing the demo and releasing which will put the release date for Spore  even further. Also this isn't the real place to talk about demos and there has been 100s of topics on this already, and it has been genrally agreed as a bad idea.

Back on topic.
I think the first creature is cool in a humorous, the second was cool is a more serious way, the third one however was just stupid and waste of time, he could of a least put more stuff on it to show more features of the editor.
Now its just a waiting game until next year

They are probably waiting to release the creature editor (if they even will) till they have a more solid idea of a release date.  How bad would it be to get the creature editor early only to have something happen while they are finishing it up which makes all of the creatures you created unuseable?  They would probably wait till a month or 2 before the game is released before they release the creature editor, and thats if they even do.

There were a few strong indications that they'll release it early, but I can't find them so boo.

I think I read an interview somewhere where Will said that the editor would change the creatures a little to make them look better.

Also, has anyone noticed how, when the creature was made bigger, the screen zoomed out a little to show the whole creature?

And why are people calling it a Willosaurus, I thought it's name was Willosaur.

Erm, what to you suggest these people are using to create their creatures?

Penes don't have bones, even without the claw thing, it's not a penis unless you want it to be, I saw no testicles/scrotum.
