ah.... No. That guy was a good actor but in no way is he in the league of James Dean. Not only in Actor skill but as the human being that James Dean was. Dean changed and motivated a whole generation. That fella will be remembered but won't be an icon of Lost youth and rebel soul.

Well, by the trailers... the joker is... different.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

I disagree.  Look at Ledger's vastly differing roles and I think you'll see that his performances warrant more attention than he got while he was alive, although I think Dark Knight was going to be his "big break" to becoming an A-list star.

Alrighty! I just saw it and the movie was FANTASTIC! It clocked in at a solid two and a half hours (a bit long for some) but to me it was very good.

The best part of the movie? When the Joker makes the pencil disappear. ;)

There were some issues with it, namely that there was a certain subplot involving a certain Mr. Dent that probably could have been cut out (to make the movie a more approachable length) and used in its own movie altogether. Also there is another sticky bit at the end that I disliked that I'll talk about later when more of you have seen it. Those things aside aside, it was great! GO SEE IT!

so amazing!!! Pat, did you see one of the late-night showings? I went at 12:15, the most packed theatre I think I've ever seen...I enjoyed the audience reactions, everyone clapping, etc  :D

ANYWAY...
The best part of the movie? When the Joker [does anything]

fixed  ;)  I loved his character so much, I think Heath Ledger did an amazing job..I agree with Pat on the Dent subplot, but I at least enjoyed (slight spoiler) the joker's interactions with him later on...
anyway, I really can't say enough about this movie...everyone go see it!

****ing dammit. I'm in Hungary, and I don't want to see a dubbed version...so I have to wait 3 weeks til I can watch it.

Spoil it for me and I will slay you. With great slaying.

Anyway, I am leaving this thread until I see the movie.

So good, best batman ever, best joker ever, just go see it. I did not want this movie to end. I didn't mind Havey's story I thought it went along well.

Funny how people were all "ah, this is gonna suck" at the beginning of the topic. Cause it does not suck at all! Ledger is awesome as the Joker, much more scarier than Nicholson. It helps that the character is much more interesting this time, of course.

And I don't think that the Harvey Dent subplot should have been cut at all, it fits nicely within the story. One could say that the movie is less centered in Batman than in the Joker or Dent, but is that a bad thing? Still there are more Batman screen time than Spider-Man in his movies (costumed, I mean).

I felt strange being one of the few laughing at all of Joker's antics.

"Watch as I make this pencil.... disappear!"

I didn't expect to see the "Mr. Dent" thing. I didn't catch it until the explosion scene. Should have understood from the whole thing with the coin.

Dent "subplot"? Dent's Arc was essentially the focus of the movie.

Exactly. I loved Dent's Arc.

Soemtimes the Ad's are amusing.

I must say, the Heath Ledger Joker seemed way more in-character than Jack Nicholson.

Ya know, I think Ledgers Joker is more in-line with the whole "Holy ****, that clowns gonna ****ing kill us with a ****ing pencil!" thing that I always thought the Joker needed.

Plus, I just love maniacs.
