Your Finest Hour
« on: May 19, 2005, 11:45:19 pm »
Well my golden game topic seems to be doing ok so lets go for another best of topic.
What do you think was your finest moment of gameplay ever, what did you do and then immediately think "wow...I did it". Perhaps you finished a realy hard game, beat an annoying boss or trounced a friend in multiplayer.

For me it was either completing populous (which had something like 3000 levels)
or
Getting the top score in the arcade at one of the ninja turtles games

Beating ICO for the PS2, easily. Everything about that game was a blast. I didn't really want it to end, but felt really satisfied that I'd finished the story. This was probably even more remarkable for me, because I can count the number of games I've beaten on one hand. :o

It's hard to say... there are a lot of games that gave me that feeling. KOTOR, although not really difficult, gave me this awesome tingly feeling when I finally beat it because it was so cool.

On the other hand, when I FINALLY beat 7th Saga, I was like, "holy crap, it's done."

For me.... finishing the original System Shock game.  It was incredibly hard and it was the first game I played pretty much nonstop until I won.

Second would have to be the final missions of the original TIE Fighter.  I was so immersed in the game the it locked me in as a Star Wars geek for eternity.

It has to be when My brother and I completed together "golden axe 2" for the genesis in 2 player mode, Ive never really felt such a storng level of accomplishment via teamwork since.
It could be frankie. It could be very fresh and clean. It could be a balloon.

In Age of Mythology, playing a clan war against the "eX" clan - who were arguably the most talented individuals in the game, and putting up a good fight!  Decimated one enemy's forward base, and as i was moving towards his city was intercepted by their leader's reinforcements, allowing them to make a deadly counter-attack... was a really fun match.

when i finally got a VERY stable economy going for a city in simcity3000 unlimited; Ii had to read almost the whole book. But when I got it going I had suburbs and skyscrapers. I've never accomplished the feat since (partly because the game disc got scratched up from sibling encounters shortly after I did this)

The time I beat Super Contra.  Ok, not really, noone ever beat that game.

Seriously, probably the first time I got the 99 life turtle bounce trick in Super Mari Bros. to work.  I think i was like 10.  Pure gaming bliss.

It was when I discovered a new item in Ultima Online, I went with it to where most people gathered and was swamped by everyone wanting to know about it, for about an hour I was the most popular person on the server, it was great.
