For the people saying Vista is too new, I've played Alpha Centauri on Vista and it worked fine. I, however, didn't manage to ignore the outdated graphics and I quickly uninstalled it :(

Your loss.  A monumental, unfathomable loss.

Depends on your definition of outdated graphics, sure the graphics aren't quite as good as things now, but they are still very good graphics.

I have the box and the game back home. I did try to install it some while ago and it didn't work for some reason. It should be freeware by now I think.

http://www.mastertronic.com/productSoldOut.asp?pid=756&productLabelID=1

You can buy it here, new, and with the expansion pack all for a whopping £4.88. Shipping shouldn't be too much of an issue, me thinks for those living in America.

:)

Edit: Just looked at the link. It isn't sold out, so I don't see why it would say that in the URL. Ah, whatever. Buy it! lol

I find Alpha Centauri to be the best of the Civ games.

Do they just send you the discs in a sleeve or they send you the actual game boxes unopened?  I'll definitely buy it if its the latter

Recently got my own Alpha Centauri base game and expansion. Needless to say, I have discovered that Civilization 1-4 sucks in comparison. If only they could somehow integrate the resource system of Civ into Alpha Centauri, it would be great. I wish Civilization even began to have as good of a weather system as AC.

Space weather? They have a simple weather system for Planet. If you raise the terrain, the west side will become rainier, the east will become dryer.

Of course it should have the opposite effect on the southern hemisphere. But i do not think AC is that exact.

Here on Earth winds normally travels from the West at the latitudes i live. This has to do with the rotation of the earth and such. At other Latitudes the winds may come form them East. So if i go to the other side of the world the winds should normally come form the east.
