Hey cool, a Spaceship editor vid!

But.. compared to the spaceship editor, and compared to the creature editor, theres not much in the tribal clothing editor, which is disapointing

Does your creature's complexity translate into the tribal clothing editor? I know part of limiting complexity is so file sizes aren't excessive. It seems that adding tribal clothing would push that file size up, considering it has to animate even more actions than before (I'm assuming).

Darth Grievi's Play by play.

VIdeo 1: Space ship editor. Will wright voiceover. Quality is too low to attempt reading text.

Spaceship part categories:

Hulls and base shapes (About 4 handles per part)
Cockpits (About 3 handles per part)
Decorations (Wings, engine-things, blinking lights, landing gear, 2-3 handles per part)
???
???
???
???
Lights (1-3 handles per part)
???

Wright puts several kinds of lights on the UFO "...I'm a big fan of the blinking lights..." Various paint schemes are tested out. Wright adds more lights. Wright named the UFO "Father Christmas" and typed in a brief description. Began discussing how the various parts can morph in different ways. Added more lights, and changed the landing gear.

This one was more about "Cool, it;s the UFO editor" than any new information.

Video 2: Lucy Bradshaw interview. There is a division among the team between Cute and Science, and Wright set down a standard of "Pixar to Geiger". This influenced both animation and the design of parts. They are satisfied they have hit the right balance.

They started with the PC, then decided to make a Mac version too, and got the chance to put it on the DS and cell phones. PC's and Macs can share content.

They are impressed with the creativity of Sims players, Spore expands on this, hoping to please the same audience. The Sims and Spore were entirely seperate challenges to design and build; The Sims was more defined, and the focus was on recreation. Spore is more broad, and theconcept is harder to get across as a game. Properly transitioning from a first person game to an RTS was another issue.

In the stages, the editors have a major impact on gameplay and the evolution of your race.

Bradshaw says she has "fallen in love with the trbe stage of the game", because this is when your culture begins to develop.

Video 3: Tribal Outfitter. The second row of parts has been unlocked, but no info can be gleaned due to low resolution. The Tribal Outfitter is essentially the Creature editor with clothing parts. The paint mode and the Test drive function exactly like the ones in the Creature Editor, with a few changes in the Test drive area.

Video 4: Caryl Shaw Interview.

Spore has aspects designed to appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers, with enormous replayability. Excited about Sporecasts, since Sims players made many themed groups of content.

Social networking has "added a new dimention to gaming". Shaw describes combining Xbox Achievements and the FaceBook Event List.

Spore has been a challenge to make, due to the may kinds of technologies intergrated into the game.

Video 5: Caryl Shaw demos UFO Editor.

They have so many Hull shapes, they couldn't fit them all on one page! That's right, two pages of base shapes!

Shaw's chosen hull had six handles.

Part Categories

Hulls and base shapes
Cockpits
Decorations (Wings, engine-things, blinking lights, landing gear)
???
???
???
Weapons (Guns)
Lights and Windows
Other (Spoilers)

Ugh... too tired. Video 6 comming in eight to twelve hours...
