My concern was actually two.

1. If the system never picks omnivores to fill the herbivore role, then creatures like my Floresh would always be selected for, "carnivore with weak fighting ability. First carnivore slot." As hilarious as the idea of a pack of Floresh hunting their prey would be, I get worried that that's all the content selection system is going to EXPECT them to do. They'll never be on the lowest end of the food web, which I would like to see. A lot of the omnivore mouths LOOK like herbivore mouths, I'd kind of like to see them filling the herbivore roll in some games.

2. This is what I'm more worried about. Number one is a gameplay balance problem, which they've had 3 and a half years to figure out. However, two thirds of all the creatures I run into have the lower three row of mouths, I'm afraid it's not going to be nearly as diverse as it could be. Those mouths are all just too distinct. Four of them all look like bird mouths, one row all look like pig/boar mouths, leaving only the top row of herbivore mouths to be truly varied. From my experience, the herbivore mouths are a lot harder to get creative with. I'm afraid that I'm not the only person with that problem, and so two thirds of all the creatures I run into will look just sliiiightly too similar.

I don't know. They've had a lot of time to figure this stuff out. I'm sure they've got these systems working the best they can. It's just ... seeing that food web screen, then hearing that omnivores may never be placed in one of those herbivore slots made be a bit weary.

According to the spoiler text, omnivores are considered predators for the purpose of ecological balance— i.e. It takes 3 plants and 2 herbivores to support 1 omnivore or 1 predator.

Sorry, i didn't save the link.

Bah that sucks :(

Actually i agree.  I downloaded  all the files so i could search.

Oh, is that where you are getting the "omnivores can only be placed as carnivores" thing? While that does not bode well, I wouldn't exactly call it confirmation.

I find it odd that there are less herbivore mouths than carnivore mouths, yet more herbivore slots than carnivore slots

You'd think it would be the opposite...
Spore! Star Wars! Dinosaurs!
Fanfic!

I blame what I call the Scopes Law (When discussing evolution in the presence of a creationist, the discussion always becomes a religious debate).

My guess is that all the parts where made... and then later they figured out the stats/functions and applied them to the parts.
