i could see a difficulty slider setting where you are on the food chain, or how many reatures will try to attack and eat you. IRL example : the arrow frog isnt "top of the food chain", but it has few preditors due to the toxins it produces. the creatures that can eat it have evolved to withstand/nutralize the poisin. Because it seems unlikely that poison etc. will be in the final game, i dont see this as affecting how your creatures will be loaded into other's games, just perhaps how often. Ex. The Marshmallopillar may not be loaded into games with a very high difficulty, and the perfect preditor might be left out of games with an easy setting.

i personally would like a difficulty setting.
