I was curious about the guy in the village that gave Poe the flash drive, too.  He knew a lot about the main characters and seemed to be important.

I seriously doubt that Rey is related to Han, and I hope she isn't related to Luke.  I agree that it would be great if she wasn't related to anyone, but if I had to guess I'd go with the theory that she's a descendant of Obi wan.

Here's a long shot, maybe Anakin's father screwed around a bunch and had another child somewhere that had a child that had Rey? So, she's still a Skywalker but a distant relative.

Or maybe Snoke is Anakin's father!

Anakin didn't have a father he was conceived via midichlorians thus proving beyond a doubt he was the chosen one who brought balance to the force by mercilessly choking a load of incompetent space admirals.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Those admirals already conquered 90% of the galaxy. If they hadn't blown their budget on an easily-exploded superweapon they'd have beaten the rebellion no problem.

OK so I saw this and read through the whole thread. It was fun, a lot of fun! It was exactly what it's supposed to be, an amped-up, goofy sequel to a low-budget goofy 70s B-movie that got weirdly popular. I enjoyed it and my only complaint is that Rey is sort of boring. Everything else was cool.

I remember hearing about this scene.  Neat to see it, probably good that they cut it.

While I do agree, it would have given Force Awakens a dismemberment. It's the only movie that lack one.
