I'm not good at brainstorming unless I have a base idea, but I'll join the project.

does the project have a lead designer? (Note that we will value all members input of couse. Designers jobs are not to come up with every little idea. There job is the shape the ideas to something that can be implemnted by programers and other artists.)

I could do that. I think I have a very good grasp on game design.

What game genre are you looking at?

If I could get the motivation and time to start a project and make sure all my Java GUI crap works, I'd make a roguelike.

If you like to be the lead designer then lead :)

That is what this project needs if it is ever going to get of the ground. Some sort of basic leadership. At least at the start.

If you'd like I'd share my design notes for my Dungeons and Discourse roguelike.

Just remember when you finally get along, programming is 90% design and 10% programming.

Yes. A good designer do most of the job for the programmer. The programmer should not have to sit there and guess or solve problems that are a part of the core game. Programmers job is mainly just to implement the documentation that the designers have create for the project. The less work a programmer have to do the better.
