Holiday Gift Ideas
« on: December 15, 2009, 01:33:27 pm »
I wanted to make a thread were we help each other buy gifts for people for Christmas/haiku/Festivise/etc
This is kinda like the "Advice on buying or building a PC or Laptop" thread, but for anything you wanted to buy for someone this holiday.

Anyway, I want to get this for my dad for Christmas:

Roku HD Player

He's also getting a new TV from my mom, and I thought this would go well together.
It's kinda of what my family calls a "Coke Truck" gift. (I wont go into the story, but basically means it's a gift that you give to someone in which you hope to use also)

What would be cool, is if I got this along with an Eye-fi Share Card, and set it up so his photos he takes would go to flickr. Then he could use the roku player to view his photos. (I know he could just plug the camera into the TV, but this is more fun  ;D )
That might be a next year thing though.

I like the idea of Netflix Streaming, and Pandora radio, plus that flickr idea.

What do you think? Or do you have a better idea? I only have $200 to spend on gifts this year.

I know someone with a Roku and they love it. I use my 360 for net flicks and it's wonderful, unless they hate movies sounds like a good gift.
I need a new tag.

Sounds kinda like my family... My mom just buys all the crap I throw on my list, then all my relatives get a list of each item and it's cost.  The relative pays for however many items they want and my mom sticks their name on the tag, first come first serve.  Makes things a hell of a lot easier and I never get stuck with cheap knockoffs or random crap because my present-buying relatives are cheap, ignorant retards.

No exaggeration, I remember one year when one grandmother decided to buy me her own gift and I unwrapped a "my first dictionary" book.  I was 12 at the time.  Needless to say, she never bought a gift herself again.

At least it looked pretty when I burned it.

I have to agree. Its just the way you came across.
They could just totally ignore the list and just buy you socks, showergel or a box of maltesers/whatever was going cheap at the time. :3

I wish I was allowed to hand a list in and get everything on it. Pulling something like that when I was a kid was a sure-fire went to get a smack on the head. :D

But enough of that! What'd you ask for? You getting anything good?

Is it strange that I actually asked for shower gel this year?

In any case me and Serenity pulled together and got us a 360 elite for Christmas, I am walking on rainbows and unicorns right now!.
