I am also back from a wild land where they don't speak English.

By that I mean I'm back from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Didn't do anything quite as fun as get married, but I did go on a date with someone else I was working with. It was great, until she ghosted me.

Yeah but when it comes to any substantial discussion, reddit is just the worst place. People will just downvote anything they disagree with, no matter how good your argument. And upvote all your mindless puns. That's no way to have an actual discussion.

that's only really the case for large subreddits. smaller ones with good rules+moderation feel more like actual communities
