That is interesting to bring up, but he's attributing a lot to genetics when he really shouldn't. The mind, although in the beginning is created based on genetics, does not follow the same path while growing. The human genome has roughly 3 billion base pairs. Take out the number that deal only with the development of the brain and you get a much smaller number (not sure exactly what that is though). Even though they say a large number of the genes deal with the development of the brain, how can, say 1 billion base pairs (or 1/3 of the entire human genome) account for roughly 1 quadrillion synaptic connections that that link our neurons?

These connections are what define a person and how they think. So when they say that genetics has a huge effect on the outcome of the brain and the person, there's truth behind it, but not to the extent that many people believe.

That guy reminds me of Dr. Breen.

As for your comments there, the environmental factors that effect our intelligence have to work in the framework our genes provide i.e it would impossible for chimps to be as smart as us unless their genome changed dramatically, so the genetic factors are pretty much all that matters in this line of argument.

On a related note, we're actually getting smarter, yey.

As for the definition of religion, I'd define it as a organised set of ideas that dictates a certain world view attached to some sort of belief in the supernatural.

I've got an ATI/AMD computer at the moment, and it's better than any NVidia/Intel computer I've ever had, also, if you're running games, get a dedicated graphics card.

As other people have said, you'll have to spend a bit more to get a computer that'll run games into the future. Shop around the market for places that'll do custom builds, (or build it yourself if you're feeling confident, though i don't recommend it), they're usually cheaper. Just make sure the warranty they offer is decent.

If you want to live somewhere where the local authority has got you covered in the event of a zombie outbreak, move to Bristol.
