Everything Else / Re: Wait... so what is your favorite game show?

Taskmaster, a show where 5 comedians and comedians-adjacent compete in arbitrary and silly tasks for meaningless prizes. Quality can vary based on how capable they are at doing the tasks and how naturally funny they are. You basically don't want a try-hard, unfunny person. They also recently changed channels, so there's been a massive jump in the quality of tasks with what they have available.

Hopefully go on holiday and find a new job.

Look, if we start having bears, that's a whole different kind of problem.

That's really cool.

My parents keep meaning to get chickens, but we have foxes living around us. Then again, the rabbit managed to survive for a while, so maybe that will change.

It's almost as if rural internet isn't profitable.

Maybe you should see about the local community all pitching in to improve things, like how groups of farms brought a phone line that connected them all together, but they could also call out.

Really not doing well. I got signed off of work for the month of April because work just got too much, which it was getting to without the lockdown. But not being able to properly see my friends and no physical separation of work and home life (I have to work in my room as I deal with sensitive information) meant that I finally broke down.

And I haven't gotten any better in the interim. If anything, I have got worse, as I'm now dreading that first phone call or the first time I finish something and five more emails have come in. Or the next time I say how I'm struggling and I'm told off. I could take another month off, but this would be at half pay and neither of my parents (who I still live with) really have jobs at the moment. I could quit, but then I'd be in the same position I was in two and half years ago, and it took me nearly two years to get to this point of actually employed. I could hold on and still look for a new job, but it genuinely makes me suffer being in this position, with a terrible manager and never-ending stream of crap that isn't going to change any time soon.

I tried explaining this to occupational health, but all they had to say was "lots of people hate their jobs" like that doesn't suggest a serious issue in our society.

So yeah, not doing well at all.

I guess so.

It took me a while to realise what the Guardian was doing.

The BBC is doing some stealth advertising for their Sounds app.

I've probably passed the lowest point. I have a path of sorts, and I'm letting myself have fun, like auditioning for an improv marathon (26 hours of long-form improvisation) this evening.

I also did actually do one of my new year's resolutions: a creative writing blog. It's pretty empty at the moment, but I alternate days between writing and job hunting.

Thanks sgore. At my most positive, I'm trying to see this as a reset, and I was paid my deposit, so I have some money at least.

I found on payday last Friday that I'm not being paid my final paycheck until next month because somebody else messed up. I was not told until I asked. I have heard nothing back. Although I have just completed by exit questionnaire. Precisely one 'satisfied' answer, and that's only because I like some members of staff.

I don't have a job. I'm back living with my parents, far away from my friends. I don't feel constructively creative. Everything just feels out of my control.

I don't make resolutions so much as goals, which I'm sure my therapist will appreciate.

1) Start a creative writing blog. If nothing else, it will remind me to write on a daily basis, and nail down things. I don't know if it'll be pure stories and such, or if some RPG stuff will sneak in there (which is what I've mostly been working on over the last few months).

2) Get a job. More for necessity than anything else. I'm hoping I don't need to move city, but that's looking more and more likely.

Everything else (move house, write specific things, get a girlfriend) sort of follows on from those 2 things.

Boy I hope the short nerdy one gets busted for hiring a hitman to take out the preying mantis.
