Title: The SCP Foundation
Post by: Grangan on January 12, 2009, 10:12:44 pm
This Metagame should be based off of the SCP Foundation web site.  You don't need to go off and find it, in fact I suggest not doing so as everything relevant to the thread, I will post in here.  One turn is one week.  Every four turns, all remaining D-Class Personnel are removed and 10 new D-Class Personnel will be gained for each site.
The SCP Foundation is a group devoted to finding and containing objects far outside of normal human understanding.  This game will assume that all of the SCP objects exist, but resets the slate-The SCP Foundation only starts out with 1 SCP, SCP-173.  SCPs are stored in sites.  Many SCPs can be stored in one site, but you should avoid putting

Agent Signet found the clockwork insects.  Upon orders, she was not allowed to touch them.  Several people were located there with unusual symptoms and they appear to have gears inside of them.  All of them have been located and quarantined, but nothing is known about them as of yet.  You'll need scientists for that.

808 seems not to be able to physically manipulate hardware, but rather seems to be able to manipulate the software inside of them.  Thus, you will need to supply her with a supercomputer.  Minimum 10 terrabytes, 1000 dollars per terrabyte.

Warning to Neoadept:I'm not going to use 217 on 808 because according to the actual SCP Foundation, that could be very dangerous.  In fact, I'm already sort of breaking their rules by putting 808 and 217 in the same site.  You just haven't run into the SCP that tells you not to mix them yet.

I have seen the warnings, I kinda wanted to destroy the world.  I found the SCP site about a month ago and thought it'd be interesting to see you deal with a keter level threat breaking loose.  I'm going to have fun when you find 862.

Besides, if you're just going to follow their guidelines to the letter no matter what we say, why not just go straight to the site?  It's no like you're weaving a narrative here.

Anyway:  Send agent to Sumeria.

Request immediate air support from the US military in the form of carpet bombing the infected Nebraska town.

You ask the US military to carpet bomb the town, but they do not believe in the existence of SCPs.  You will need to convince them first, whether in a chaotic or orderly way.  You could make 808 efficentize the Pentagon computers, or you could release 173 in the president's office, or anything you like.  Just think through your decision.

Those infected with 217 seem to be converted into an organic metal substance.  It seems to continue to have the same elements (ie carbon) found in their body, but in a metallic form.  Their brain too is clockwork, and once they start doing a task while being converted, they are slowly programmed into that task.  For instance, our factory workers now cannot do anything but work in a factory, and the older ones cannot do anything but the same movements, unable even to move to a different kind of factory work.

808 makes the DVD player play images that had never been there previously.
808 seems to make the CD player sentient and has a conversation with it.  The CD player can still play CDs, but can decide not to if it so wishes.  You now have a sentient CD player.

The CD player tells you something that could be potentially useful.  Now you can put into effect Weapons Research Programs.  These allow you to provide a description of a weapon.  I will determine about how long it will take.  When we are done researching it, you can equip agents with it.
808 says that she would be interested in coming into contact with an electronic gun, preferrably one with a monitor on it.

Tell the Pentagon to point a satellite at the Nebraska town.  It's not like this one's a person, it should be fairly evident that this thing is dangerous, regardless of the nature of it's workings.  Hell, send an agent there just to keep the media out of it, 'cus I can't believe that it's stayed under wraps this long without intervention.

And if we don't have government support, where are the class D's coming from?  Are we kidnapping these people?

The Pentagon points a sattelite at the Nebraska town.  In secret they carpet bomb it.  They give you the remaining, smaller piece of it, which shares the original properties.  Dr. Green terms it SCP-882.  You keep it in your new building.
http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-882

You finish creating the electronic and monitored guns.  SCP-808 takes several of them.  She requests cameras for them, which you provide.  She herself attaches the cameras to the guns and programs them to have many settings, such as heat vision for detecting life, among other settings, all in fractions of a second.  You can now equip agents with these guns.

Class-Ds come from the government, but they do not neccasarily know what we are doing.  They just know that we will execute them properly and that we are a science research facility.  Incidentally, now the government DOES know what we're doing due to the sattelites, and approves of it.  They gave us a grant of 100,000 dollars.

882 appears to be a large, clockwork construct.  Any metal that comes into contact with it will be converted into more parts, and it will grow.  No metal is allowed into its container.  Many humans who hear it running will attempt to feed metal to it so long as the noise sounds.  It is to be kept in salt water to stop it from running.

The agents came back.  Agent Orwell has a severe burn.  He reports that he went to the warehouse, and inside was an expansive maze of pipes.  When he went in with his gun, one of them sprayed tar at him.  They both exited.

Transport 882 to site 02.  Under no circumstances should 882 be exposed to 217.

Add air locks and decontamination to the factories at site 01.  If we must use 217 for labor we must take precautions to ensure that it does not escape containment.

Get the CD player, the Super Computer, and 808 into the same room.

If nothing comes from this, ask the CD player if it would like to be hooked up to the super computer.

You put them all temporarily in the same room.  Unfortunately, this involves moving them to Site 01.... which should never, NEVER happen.  Oh well.  Nothing bad happened for now.  Your helicopter means that 808 didn't go through the factories.
Nothing unusual happened.
The CD-player plugged itself into the super computer.  They had sex for about ten minutes until the guard realized what was going on and unplugged them.  808 was sent back to Site 02.

Dispatch agents to India to maintain media silence on the lizard.  Send the CD player with them, air drop it onto the Lizard and tell it to initiate communication.

Check the news for any possible SCP's, we'll need something unussual to deal with the lizard without causing an international incident.

Then this will be difficult, considering that the lizard is Keter and we've got nothing that can match it head on.

Inform the Indian government of it's existence via satellite coordinates and pray that carpet bombing will work on this thing.

The agents attack the lizard.  Few survive, and those that survived did not succeed in killing or capturing the lizard.

You begin researching body armor.  You should be done in about 2 weeks.

You get one of the agents to laser the reptile from the helicopter.  The reptile at first takes the lasers, leaving burn marks in his skin.  However, after a while, his skin turns into a mirrory substances.  The lasers fire back at the chopper and DESTROY IT.

((Yes, it only hates living things.  However, it concluded from the quick chat that I mentioned that the cd player liked living things and was willing to help living things.))
The Indian Government was informed, by you, of the reptile's coordinates.  They looked there, and bombed the reptile.  However, though the reptile was injured by some of the bombs, it's skin seemed to get harder as they bombed it.  The bombs did less and less damage.  Soon, they were not effecting it at all.  Then, it jumped into the air, biting several airplanes and taking them down.  In the chaos, more airplanes were destroyed.  Few escaped.
The Indian Government gave you a 1 million dollar grant.

make a droid creating facility that can make non-sentient droids with 2 times more armor than that of the armor of the normal agents, and give them 2 sub machine guns.1 on each hand. Then, once there are enough, send them out and try and destroy the lizard THAT way,if it doesn't work,i say we combine the acid with the sleeping poison,so if it isn't killed,it'll fall unconscious. Then,if THAT works, study and classify the reptile.

I say put more research into 217.

SCP-173 escapes from Central Command.  SCP-173 kills everyone in the factories, making them no longer factories.  SCP-173 exits Site 01.  SCP-173's location is unknown.

Just to answer that question before I update-
173 is made of cement.  High powered explosives would likely be needed, and it's so fast that they need to be REALLY high powered high powered explosives.  The sort of stuff only the government has.

Forget 173, it's only a threat when no one is looking, which means that the possibility of public awareness of SCP's coming about because of it is near zero.  The lizard is our problem right now.

The acid guns should be done by now, do a test run from a helicopter, stay only long enough to determine effectiveness.

The acid guns are done and you use them on 682.  A sizzling noise sounds out.  682 moans.  The acid begins to dissolve 682.  The acid quits dissolving 682 after it's foot has melted.  682 no longer is effected by the acid.

There are no natural or otherwise defences against having the very atoms of your body being split away.

This lizard may be immune to MOSTLY everything, but no amount of evolutionary advantages makes your atoms stick together more.

Begin research into hardware for automated manufacturing, 808 can do the software.  It will be more versatile than 217 and I find using a highly contagious SCP for manual labor to be tempting fate.

Immunity should have worn off by now.  Carpet bomb 682, followed by lasers to prevent regeneration.  Begin construction of containment around 682, with acid guns on hand should it become immune to lasers again.  With any luck we can seal it up before it gets back in fighting shape.

You begin research into manufacturing equipment.  You should be done in approximately one week.
You get the Indian Government to carpet bomb 682 as you shoot lasers at it.  682, however, though at first damaged, begins emitting a gas.  When in this gas, bombs cannot detonate.  The simple force of having the bombs fall on him without exploding does not harm 682.  682 also becomes mirrored, dispelling the lasers.  One agent is killed by the reflected lasers, and one is killed by 682.

I didn't specify what kind of gas it was.  In fact, I didn't specify that it was a gas known to humans.  How do you know that it didn't stop bombs from detonating?
SCPs are supposed to do things we think are impossible.  It's part of why they're SCPs.

You review the feed.  In every case, the agent entered a large temple.  As they got further into the temple, they noticed symbols on the walls.  Further, and they saw the walls had the symbols and were made of a gold-colored metal.  They fell down screeching.  Symbols started appearing on their body.  They then turned into the metal.  Feed ends shortly thereafter due to the camera turning into a nonconductive metal.

In Alaska, your team encounters a man.  The man walks through the streets towards the team.  He pulls a sword out of seemingly nowhere.  Sustained fire does not seem to kill him.  He walks through the bullets and kills one of the team members with his sword.  The other team members run.  One is killed in a chase.
Also, your factories use machines rather than 217 now.

Attach laser guns to the factory robotic arms and have 808 rewrite the code for security uses.  She is to write this code to a disk which is then tested in a single turret before being implemented in all turrets.  808 is not to be informed about the test.  Under no circumstance is 808 to have direct access to the weapon systems.

See?  Versatile.

Respond, telling them that the item is too dangerous to let out of our sight.

But, tell them we may be willing to let them relocate to a new site, where we may monitor the device. But, as an ultimatum, make them all take polygraph tests telling us what, exactly, they're planning on doing with it.

Build a new Site in the Sahara desert. That is where we will hold any members of the Serpant's hand if they attack us and we capture them.

Also, update on a very serious situation.  It appears that in British Colombia, Forests seem to be dissapearing for seemingly no reason.  This patern is moving west.  Meanwhile, the murders in Alaska seem to be moving east.  They may be converging to one point.  It is probably best to stop one of these patterns as they may cause a large emergency if they come into contact.

You sent an agent to NYC.  He traces Sally's movements.  He looks at the objects that she interacted with.  Only one seems odd.  It is a large toybox.  It is immobile.  It has animals engraved in it which seem to move around when it is only in peripheral vision.

073's abilities (they were in the file but since you were evidently too lazy to read it)
If 073 is attacked, the damage will be redirected to the attacker.  073 cannot himself attack others, however.

You immerse it in acid.  There is a brief sizzling sound.  Then, nothing happens.  You let it remain in the acid for several days.  It begins unfurling.  It regrows its arms and legs.  It briefly escapes, but you manage to damage it to immobility again.

682 does not have a corpse.  As far as we know, for 682 "alive" and "dead" are not applicable.

Then I would be just as wrong saying it was a body wouldn't I? They're both silly terns trying to term like that when you say it's just 'animate'. Doesn't matter.

At your doorstep was left a small can.  It was labeled "Panacea".  Your scientists classify it as SCP-500.
http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com/scp-500
Also, some odd cases have been popping up of people feeling pain and ticking noises in California.  Some doctors have noticed gears in them.  You realize that somehow, there has been an SCP-217 outbreak.
A man in a small town in Pennsylvania has reported having a planet in his abdomen.  He has been locked in an insanasylum.
A series of unexplained deaths has occurred in Cleveland.
A library in New York City has reported that their shelf space is oddly filling up, despite not buying many books.
You attempt to use 063 on 682.  The scientist doing such was killed by 682.  063 seemed to be unable to penetrate deeper than about 3 inches into 682's skin.

You spy on MC&D.  They do not appear to have any unusual items.  Some unusual items club.     :P
You draw some symbols in the sand using microscopic technology.  The beings seem very afraid.  You talk from the sky.  Your voice booms to them.  They are very afraid of you.
You throw a pebble into 007's ocean.  An ELE follows.  Dust clouds sweep over the whole planet.  When they clear (around the end of the week) the intelligent species seems to be far rarer, though they have kept their little technology.

You issue forth divine command to 007 with directions on how to build simple steam engines, and on the importance of scientific progress.  They begin building small factories in which they build clothing.

You don't start work on nanobots as that would be stupid and would only result in a grey goo situation.
You hire two scientists.
You build a new Site 03 building.
Your miniaturizing technology should be done in a period of time as follows:  Every turn from now on you will gain one unit for every SCP owned.  You will gain the technology when you have 250 units.
(Actually, all research from now on will use this Sciunits system).
Also, you have noticed odd symbols appearing on some of the walls of Site 03 command.  Some traces of an unidentified metal have been located as well.

For instance, program them to "Don't bloody destroy the world by using everything to replicate"
Title: Re: The SCP Foundation

Build a new site in India, and send 882 and 668 there, research Site 3 coin SCP and develop containment for it.
Also attempt to appease the Hand by allowing 808 to come and go when she wants, as long as she doesn't do anything risky (and train a specialized team to watch her [and maybe even other SCPs] in case she tries anything stupid/dangerous), as well as attempt to appease MC&D by giving them 063 and a few samples of 500, with a note attached saying "Until we have something better- The Foundation".
And last, but not least, send a message to the GOC saying "We cannot destroy them all at this time, as some of the artifacts may be needed to destroy others. However, if you are interested in helping us destroy SCP-668, as well as the dangerous Church of the Broken God, then we may be able to work together. The Foundation. P.S. After all, 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.'"
Proceed to keep tabs on all the various factions, and see which are truly dangerous to the world, while trying to gain/maintain good relationships with the others.  We're going to need all the help we can get.

Now, can we do all that?

inorganic means not alive.  Is a steel block alive?  No.  Ergo, it is inorganic.

(Facepalms self for not think of that)
Thanks for saying that, for some reason that went completely over my head.
Also, with how much I requested, I can understand your feelings about that. I do get carried away in my planning sometimes.

Also I want to check that you didn't confuse 668 and 682.  I'm pretty sure you could destroy 668 just by normal means...
