Its the default drive for the floppy disk, same way C: is the default for the hard drive. A and B drives are generally set aside for the floppy disks. The big floppy disks aren't made anymore, so the smaller one is usually the A drive and we hardly see the B drive designation anymore.

Used to play a games back in school on an Apple II. And then when I came back after summer vacation one year all the old Apples were gone and we had new PCs.

You mean Oregon, not Organ.

Anyhow, I used to call the smaller floppy disks hard disks becase they were stiff, but apparently they are still called 'floppy' disks.

I still use those things to reboot my OS when my system takes a nosedive.

I knew that didn't look right. I even checked, and google failed  me  :D

Thank you, will fix it.

*Goes to get Oregon Trail on his iphone*

Floppy disks are like that due to how they store memory onto floppy something-I-forget-the-names-ofs.

It almost feels weird now not having floppy drives in my PC tower. I remember back in primary playing gasmes ont he school computer with the big actual "floppy" floppy disk and in high school lugging around floppy disks with all my homework on them. By the time I finished my tafe course I was getting around with a USB stick now my PC doesn't have a floppy drive any more.

Back in my day we didn't have your fancy internet we had to walk 6 miles through 5 feet of snow up hill both ways to deliver information.
