This is the only video I could find of this, so sorry for the quality. It also shows Galactic Adventures.

What the heck is Spore Creature Keeper (PC)? Is it like "pokemon" or something?

I think it's more like a pet/companion simulator.

Go Spore! Go!

Seems like a mix between Tamagochi, Harvest Moon, Pokemon and The Sims. I'll buy it.

Creature Keeper?! It must be a kind of virtual-pet thing... although, the running on the treadmill in the house for some reason reminded me of Creatures Playground, and there's been a Creatures-shaped hole in my life ever since they stopped making those games... dang it! I hope they won't exploit my neediness!

The Wii one looks like... some kind of 3D platformer? Should Spore BE a 3D platformer?

No :P

I don't care if the Spore games suck in the consoles, I just want them to keep releasing good stuff for PC :D

Spore Hero looks like Spore creatures for DS but in 3D.
Spore Creature Keeper I hope is an expansion because it'll be fun going into buildings...
Defo buying Galactic Adventures OMG!

I'm thinking Creature Keeper might be like Cute and Creepy was, where you could install it on top of Spore, or on top of the creature creator, giving the people who just like making creatures more to do with just their creatures.

It is referred to as being stand-alone, which I presume means you don't need either of the two games.  :o

Creature Keeper is probably that third type of expansion Will was mentioning in that it probably is a stand-alone.

Galactic Adventures looks great so far.  I realy don't want to get my hopes up to much, but I can't help it.  It's all very exciting.

I know I shouldn't be getting on the speculation train again, but I don't think it would be too far a leap to assume if you can make these stories and missions for the space phase, you can do them in the other's as well.  Just a thought.

It looks delicious. Yeah yeah, before it gets said, I know a lot of people consider Spore a major letdown, but I always held that if Spore could be fleshed out more, rather than playing like a passing history lesson of how a species reached the space stage, it would be incredible. I'll wait for more info on Creature Keeper, but i'll be getting Galactic Adventures. I still want to 'buy blind', preordering it just to show support for Spore with my wallet rather than just my hands, though now we're getting into expansion packs, and it is less a reflection of "original games get rewarded", I might be more cautious.

I mean, I narrowly avoided the mistake of preordering Saints Row 2 for the PC. A friend got a Direct2Drive style download of the american release, and the port is horrendous. Even below 800x600 and on lowest detail settings, 15fps is about the max, and his specs are a little above mine. I hope they patch it, because otherwise my only option is to buy a damn 360 to play it...

In the Gamespot video I'm sure I heard Lucy Bradshaw talking about 'activity rooms' where you could play online minigames with your critters in Creature Keeper; while I'm a bit annoyed they're putting multiplayer into that game rather than the one I've already got it's still a step in the right direction and means they're at least looking into multiplayer on some level or the other.

I'll probably not be following all the 'directions' Spore inevitably gets taken in but it's really clear from this slew of announcements that Maxis and EA are definitely wanting to take this in as many directions as possible. It's interesting to see the ideas they're coming out with, they're beyond the sorts of things I'd thought about.

Creature Keeper is to Spore as the Sims Stories games were for the Sims 2. It's on the same topic but stand-alone. I wouldn't mind seeing a Sporeish the Sims :P

The alien abduction event might use the Grox, and you return with a cool cybernetic eyepatch and a hate for all biological life. Oh wait, then you'd choke and die in the T3 atmosphere. Hmm, I should have thought that through a bit better.

Oh wait, haha, when Sims3 comes out, all visits to earth in the Sol system reveals actual cities you made, with actual sims you made. Then you can epicise them and watch your sim-self destroying buildings for ultimate sadism. The mental image of an actual spore creature beaming down into the Sims, and trying to woo a housemate by using cutesy dances, is strangely amusing. Or of course, beaming off the planet and using the planetbuster when they realise how much garbage there is on TV. Or maybe that should be one of the mini-events. Rather than inviting a school principal or boss over for dinner to worm your way into something, you have to entertain an alien who beams down, to convince them not to destroy the planet. Or maybe they're just looking for Michael Jackson; an escaped galactic convict with intense social abilities. Ee-hee.

Haha, along the lines of human-ish-Spore-critter interactions, it'd be funny (though unlikely, so I'm not speculating at all I must hasten to say) if the Spore Heroes game for the Wii had Mii integration; far as I can tell from what's been said so far it's all set on a world Maxis has made, so no chance of finding a planet of Miis, but maybe a lost tribal civilisation of them? Or maybe an option to turn your creature into a horrific hybrid; chunky Spore creature body with the vacant emotionless stare of a Mii-head. Brrr!!!

What I'm curious about is... will Creature Keeper coexist with the already-used Sporepedia (meaning we can drag in any critter from the game into that... house or whatever it is) or will we make all new creatures that are kept separate? I'm just wondering if the two sub-franchises will interact.

Two things about Adventures have me intrigued:

1) How will Maxis handle creature complexity while adding weapons to your space creature? My sapients typically go largely undressed because the complexity meter limits my clothing options (due to my complex base creature). It wouldn't be balanced to allow simpler creatures a statistical advantage because of their lack of complexity.

2) How will the animations handle unorthodox weapon placement? We saw that you can have electro-claw sword thing weps that cause your creature to dash forward, slash with it, and scoot back. What happens when users put these claws near a creature's foot?

So do I! Lets hope they do that for the next expansion after Galactic Adventures, an optional evolutionary path that you could take on creature, tribal, civ and space. Including a molecular stage as well would be awesome.

Anyways, enough with the hopeless dreaming until something is announced.
I read in an article that Spore Creature Keeper is a kind of mini-sims mixed with tamagochi.

Well, The Sims 3 already has some Spore features like procedural textures (I think) for certain objects like the Sofa for example. Imagine if each object has shape modifying sliders :D

Yes water creatures and flora editor!

It's about time we get the flora editor, it is something I can see myself spending a lot of time on, more than in any other editor. I'm probably a minority but yeah, I definitely want the flora editor.

As for water creatures, I can see an expansion that expands on the creature, tribal, city/civ and space phases.

Creature:
Same as creature stage but underwater, maybe some parts allowing for amphibious creatures that can live in both environments.

Tribal:
Same as tribal stage, here the creatures definitely pick the environment for the rest of the game until space stage, if they lived mostly underwater they'll continue underwater, or if they were amphibians they can also chose to go onto land now.

City/Civ:
Same as City/Civ but underwater in case that's where the player stayed when in tribal.

Space:
Underwater civs live underwater, land civs live on land... eventually if your race is advanced enough they can build cities on the opposite environment. This would make the game more challenging for underwater creatures because they could only live on planets with water until they get the land tech, however there should be some reward for living underwater so that land civs feel the need to build underwater as well.

Or they could keep it as it is now being on a t0 planet and contain the underwater colonies in a bubble.  The difficulty would lie in finding planets with a high sea level, or taking the time to lower the land level around some spice geysers.  Or they could just dumb it down to match the rest of the game and automatically lower the land to its lowest level when you place a colony.

I just wonder if the Sims 3 will use Spore content in some way.

I would love to see that.  I'd like to see some sort of free program that could take Spore PNGs and re-render the contents as a plain mesh with a pattern that could then be ported into Sims 3 or other games for use.  In Sims 3 you could have statues or dolls/action figures.

As for stand-alone Spore games, I am curious about Creature Keeper as the intimate nature of the game may really satisfy some non-gamers and even gamers who really like their creatures and want to interact with them rather than indirectly as them.  However, what I'm really looking forward to is a Spore racing game.  That might be possible in Galactic Adventures so I'm looking forward to that.

Me too!  ;D I'd love a Spore racer, especially if there was a kind of track editor as well so we'd never run out of courses; or better yet, make it use a checkpoint system so we can scatter checkpoints across the planet, making the whole world our racecourse, and drop in props like buildings and traps around those checkpoints.

If vehicle-based gameplay is in Galactic Adventures then hopefully this is possible.  :) And if not, well... they're already working on MySims Racers so maybe this is one of the gimmicky directions they could take Spore in.

Because the wii is mostly for girls and young kids. FACT
In other words the wii client base is composed of about 50% children 40% casual adult "gamers" 10% hard core gamers (nintendo fanboys) Of which 70% are females. SO you probably fall under the 10% hardcore gamerz,
This game is not meant for you, sorry.
Game Devs go where the money is, in this case children/casual/female players. Now unless you fall in that category the wii is not for you.

But I remember how shallow the DS version was.

I haven't played the DS version but i also heard it was "shallow". to be honest, the Wii version doesn't seem to outstanding, especially if it just stays in one stage, after all Spore is about evolving not platforming.

also Grangran, his isn't have the exact same avatar, unless you had that one before you had your other "water drop". your new avatar is annoying. i used to use distracting avatars, but i have changed...its a phase really.

That was Grangan's avatar before he got the other water drop.

And it seems helio doesn't give a damn. But that's not going to be my fight.

As for Creature Keeper, I'll probably go with that one over Spore Hero.

Spore as an adventure game?

Isn't that what Spore Adventures is trying to accomplish?

I think the target audience is lost with Spore. You get people who want gameplay and ones who want creative freedom.

But I want both!  Even with GA mixing things up, it doesn't really seem to do what I hoped Spore would do in the first place--what no game has ever done for me.  I am still looking for that game that gives me total creative power but works with AND AGAINST that creativity to give me a challenge and a unique story.  The gameplay in Spore is weak (except Cell stage.  That RULES.) but the creativity is strong and only grows stronger as the creators get more inventive.  Even GA doesn't seem to utilize that creativity much beyond giving players a wide choice of icons that don't act much differently than any other.

But anyway, its not meant as a hateful comment. I'm just stating facts proven by other analysts/companies to hopefully explain why games get f-ed up on the wii to other players that wonder that.

Dude..... Do you really need anymore evidence of the main user base of Nintendo wii besides the kind of games they make for that console? Do any of the ads or the recent wii fit any clue to you. (btw my aunt just bought a wii so she can do some yoga stuff on wii fit, go figure)
But anyway if that's not clear enough evidence to back up the fact, just Google Nintendo Wii Demographic. That will give you lots of Articles that talk about NY analysts research on that topic. But seriously, look at the games out for the wii, do you really need someone to prove the fact that a bra is mostly used by women? Pretty obvious, just look at the kind of demographic that uses the product. Same applies for the wii. Go around your friends  or family and see what kind of people use the wii. You will find it's mostly your female friends and family 6 to 1.

I am one of those people who fall in the 10% Nintendo Fanboys of being a hardcore gamer...Helio-G most certainly does have a valid point.  It's true, Nintendo does focus more on the casual gamers than the hardcore - I'm not insulting them either, as going by their business tactics, it's indeed a smart move.  We still get great games - GTA China Wars (DS), a new Zelda in the works, Pikmin 3 (I suppose this can fall either way - hardcore and casual) but it does seem like they aren't focusing on the hardcore gamers anymore.

Sorry about taking this off topic...I for one do plan to get all versions of Spore :)

I referenced to this comment (bold by me) of yours. You speak of "facts proven by other analysts/companies", but where are those?

No, that's not enough evidence.
I'm sorry, but this sounds like you say the games that came out for Wii aren't your thing therefor they are for girls/women/families (OK, the last point is clearly a notion of Nintendo).
I know what games came out for Wii, but what makes those games less fun than games on other platforms i wonder?

The only persons i know who have a Wii is my best friend and my cousin, so it's exactly 50/50 male/female. A perfect statistic analysis for the conclusion, that Wii is equivalent for both genders in the age between 20 and 25.
The wondering thing is that my best friend plays mostly WiiFit and my cousin the action games what again comes to the conclusion that 100% of the males i know who use the Wii do Yoga with it and 100% of females i know who have one plays action games.

But to clarify things: I'm just arguing your use of the word fact, not what target group the Wii faces. People are to fast with the word "fact" without backing up their as "fact" constituted opinions and claims. Furthermore you speak of analyses but don't link to them.
And I'm sorry i hijacked this thread.
I think we should now go back ontopic.

On topic I hope this will revive Spore for me. I go in once in a while, create or modify one of my creatures, play for an hour and then leave it for weeks/months.
Space stage was fun enough first 2nd time, but it just doesn't have enought to do with your ACTUAL creature to grip me. Whether the little portrait that always sounds the same is a pink or blue blob matters little to me (which is why I suggested away teams/missions on planets), but these things in the trailer seem to focus more on the individual - I'm looking forward to seeing more about what that's all about :)

....still.... read my quote under my portait. It's been the same for years.

I read that there's a fourth new Spore game. It's called Spore Hero Arena (DS). It's supposed to have fully 3D rendered creatures which you can fight with others. I'm not sure if it's Wi-Fi capable but it should if it's going to be worth anything.
