managed to loot a sidekick from an Infected corpse. We're in DC, and our tank has run dry, so we're hoofing it from here. many people we've seen on the roads are heading north. with luck, the infected will follow the meatwagon, and ignore us 12. btw, what's up with people calling infected zombies? ... infected are real, zombies aren't.

Religion: During the reign of the Firm and Nexus, much of the Gosaan culture was destroyed and replaced over the generations with Total War. Following the Downfalls, the Gosaan recovered much of their lost heritage, and wasted little time in reinstating the traditional ancestor worship as the main religion.

Reproduction: Gosaan, like many reptiles, lay eggs. The Gosaan are no different in egg laying/fertilization, except that eggs are typically hung from something (a tree branch or apartment roof) to keep htem out of harms way via saliva. Once the eggs hatch, they are 'trapped' by the saliva, and are forced to eat their own eggshells until a parent comes to 'rescue' them.

Internal Biology: Gosaan have three lungs, left, right, and center, along with one heart located behind the lungs. The stomach is a pretty simple affair: acids breakdown the food while microbes digest it and absorb nutrients from the food.

Locomotion: Two powerfully built legs keep Gosaan off the ground, and the reverse-joints give a Gosaan incredible running speeds, though at the cost of climbing easily. The legs end in two feet, with a powerful killing claw on the inside, a leftover from when primitive Gosaan leapt onto the backs of prey and predator, letting these scythes rip flesh to ribbons.

Name: Xolek Rei'joles
Race: Gosaan
Position: Security

One of the many Gosaan born on the Fringeworlds millenia after the fall of the Firm and Nexus, Xolek, like many others; joined up with the Gosaan Marines in what he believed would be the fast track to fame and glory-unfortunately, the Gosaan Empire's New Government wasn't at war currently, and he got pushed into the dustbin of a Weekend Warrior, punctuated by the occasional rabble-rousers, and was eventually shoved into a 'goodwill mission' of mapping and attempting to prove that the Gosaan people were'mt violent madmen, which is how he found himself on the Exploration Ship.

What my original species, the Gauss, would have been before an inebriation-induced error changed them. Gosaan have the capacity to be very intelligent and peaceful, but after thousands of generations of living under The Firm, many have lost all independent thought, and have a pre-coordinated set of responses (issued by the Firm) for many situations. The "national pasttime is Total War, an ingenious way to kill others in a constant 'civil war' on both land and space, and free up real estate. No culture apart from Total War, after said thousand generations of Firm rule.

Tech- Pretty limited, considering that they've been at a technological/sociological standstill for quite some time, and because imagination is NOT encouraged. They have hyperdrives, but they're so huge and costly that only a handful of ships have them. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Gosaan battle armor has been modified extensively, practically ever since one Gosaan got the idea to wear a loincloth. A few million years later, that rag has evolved into a full-body and head suit with numerous pockets and mounted weapons, such as scissor-machetes and norefes spikes.

ooc- I've got a lot on my plate on and off the screen, so I don't think you can join in quite yet. Later, definately.

Immediately after seeing his squad's rounds do little more than chip the paint off the Fiikkalian armor, Oep'tas ordered a full-speed retreat, scattering several liberal handfuls of norefes* spikes on the ground in front of him, and he and his squad ducked into a maintenance hatch. Unfortunately, his squad didn't escape as unscratched as Oep'tas, and one private had his head blown clear of his shoulders, and a corporal was still reeling from the after effects of being hit by a mace-tail. "Well chief, what'll we do now?" said an underling. Pausing to think over the countless scenarios that he had run into, Oep'tas decided that the best course of action was to wait. "We'll let 'em get poisoned from the norefes" Turning his attention to the deceased private, he decided, 'Waste not want not' and gave his men the order to feed, which they did loudly and with intense enthusiasm.

Ieh'koles, meanwhile, was too busy reporting to Nexus to be bothered with the events of the present until he had stepped into his shuttle and sat on the makeshift command throne when one of his calls came through. Ieh'koles was already in a foul mood since he had been unable to obtain tech for Nexus and had been unable to retrieve his pistol. Fuming, he roared at the unfortunate Gosaan on the opposite end to "Give the problem to a planetmaster! Unless you're stupider than you sound, space combat is my forte. Besides, they landed on a fortress world, so they'll be overrun soon anyway." Firmly annoyed, he was content to fume and sulk on the long return flight to his ship.

In the ensuing hours of spaceflight, the Fiikkalian ground forces were fighting a stalemated battle inside of a large city, against Gosaan troops who were as vengeful and entrenched as the Fiikkalians. "I don't care if they have superior armor and hostages!" roared the force commander "Get us an airstrike, NOW! Our frontline is falling apart!"

* small barbed spikes (usually poisoned) that stick to floors, walls, and the bodies of those unfortunate enough to step on them

ooc- did you land on the Imperial Capital, or some random world in-system (not to sound rude)?

One of the marines, a certain Holtek Oep'tas, pulled his arm-mounted machete out of a Fiikkalian corpse. "Well, they're certainly weaker than their ships, or we at least caught them off guard" Almost immediately after he said that a squad of heavily armed Fiikkal rounded the corner. "Fall back!" roared Oep'tas, and squeezed his weapons firing stud, sending several heavy rounds screaming towards the Fiikkal troops.

Sorry I haven't been able to post, but I'm over my shingles!!!!! And the last few days have been busy mopping up the civvie rabble that attempted to torch our base by shoving some gas cans into strategic spots and attaching string, and then getting the hell out of Baltimore.

Thankfully, we found 'em before they sent the whole base up, and have instituted a "Military State" as our CO puts it, and finally found and executed the backstabbers. Then, some idiot decides that the dead should be avenged and started a street war. Most of our patrols were caught and killed on sight, and the civvies attempted to storm the loading dock of the factory that pulls double duty as our base. Three off duty privates were beaten to death, and the docks were taken. After causing enough damage to alert us, a few of us who weren't caught up in the fighting evacuated and withdrew to our only tank. I don't know what happened after that, but since we haven't recieved any threats or pleas to come back over our radio, we're guessing that they were overrun, either by Infected or by deranged civvies. We're heading towards Richmond right now, and keeping the internet up on my phone is killing the battery.

4d's status- safe (for the moment)

ooc-Well, Ieh'koles turned off his 'phone', so his crew are trying to get orders for what to do. Oh, and can anyone tell me how to get my race into the NG?

After hours of trying to reach Ieh'koles, his crew eventually gave up and contacted the Firm's military desk. After being moved around to numerous departments, the order was given to utilize the cryopods/troopcarriers that Ieh'koles had scattered across the system to hijack Nakaman ships. With a flick of a switch, the Marines in the Cryocarriers were thawing out and the pods were jetting towards the Fikkalian ship.

"Very well, if you could take me too this station, I would enjoy making a contact with your leadership" said Ieh'koles. After being led too the station, he asked the H'qur to translate:

"I, Galaxymaster Balek Ieh'koles, address you, leaders of the H'qur, to ally with me, and the Gosaan people. This is a fact that I give you willingly- I am a leader for Nexus, which seeks to destroy the Firm, and has done so since it was founded millenia ago. Naturally, the Firm fears us, but can't persecute us in public, and is also reponsible for numerous crimes against the Gosaan people, including arson, use of biological weapons of mass destruction, fratricide, and numerous others. We seek to replace the Firm, but cannot due to a severely small membership and the lack of technology to make our vengeance happen. For this; I appeal to you, to trade with Nexus, and to be able to to fight when we give the command. For those services, we will give you anything in our power, both before and after our Reclamation"

Ieh'koles nearly wept form joy. "Is it possible to speak to one of these governers on your ship? My cruiser lacks the gear for such a comm, ad it would be impossible to hide it from my crew'

Ieh'koles shrugged. "Someone who is important enough to hear the words of a Galaxymaster, or who is important enough to relay my words, but preferably someone in charge"
