Spore: General / Re: Spore Mini Update
« on: May 19, 2005, 10:03:13 pm »
I've told a few people about your upcoming news.
Man, so many people had no idea what the hell Spore was...

Anyway, good job, Steve. Thanks a lot.  ;D

Spore: General / Re: Will planets 'end'?

Yeah, it'd be kind of annoying if you were just taking your first steps onto the land and BAM.
Wouldn't even know what the hell happened.
Or maybe you would, if it was the biggest freaking planet dinging asteroid in the universe. That'd be frightening.
And funny if you were looking at your planet's neighbor planet in the night sky and a big "thing" just nails it. Though I'd then be scared all over again expecting the King of the Cosmos to show up and either smash my planet or send his son down to collect ugly people and junk.

...yeah, I'm bored.

Console Games / Re: PS3 Specs Revealed! More to follow....
« on: May 17, 2005, 04:38:30 am »
It reminds me of my scanner...

But what's the deal with the color?
Black XBox -- black PS2.
White XBox 360 -- white PS3.

Eh, I've got no problems with either system. Just mentioning for no reason.
It all sounds fine to me. In the end, I still don't know what most of that information means. In any case, I hope it means longer and smarter games come from developers now.
Because if Fable 2 comes to make the same mistake, so help me god...

Hell, maybe they'll surprise us again. The first sight (GDC) anyone ever had of Spore was a complete surprise, and it also looked pretty good already.
I know there's more to it than looks, but Will could have been only showing off a few features here and there. There was probably much more to it.

I guess we'll see in a few days...  ;D

Besides that, there's been very little publicity for the game; not many people know about it. Even the know-it-all guys at my EB were like, "Spore? What?"
I'm always spreading the word of Spore, even complete strangers. I'm like a missionary.  :D
And then there's the fact that the game's going to be shown behind closed doors at E3. That just seems like they don't want to do a wide open and flashy showing to me.

Yeah, maybe later. A good bit later.
Though it's nice to hope.

TIME TRAVELER EDIT: I'm such a ****ing stooge.

Console Games / Re: HD Era MISTAKES (XBox 360)
« on: May 14, 2005, 06:09:59 pm »
What a crock. I'm not a millionaire. And I'll be even more poor when I'm going through college soon. RETRO EDIT1: <-- LOL

Online as necessity? That's garbage. I don't want to be online all the time. Tron says exactly what I was thinking.
Personal entertainment? I don't understand how the HD era is all of a sudden personal, as opposed to mass.
Wireless? I don't like wireless. I don't want to worry about receivers and batteries and finding my controller. RETRO EDIT2: Cool. Who cares?
Multiplatform? Oh, yeah. Right. Like my friends are all going to get an XBox and an HDTV when we're earning $8.25 an hour. RETRO EDIT3: That's not what multiplatform means you dumbass.
What does "on the disc and on demand" even mean?
I assume by "commicates" you mean communicates. But even then, I don't get that last one either. RETRO EDIT4: Still don't know WTF this means.

It all sounds like an expensive nightmare in any case.
More and more, it looks like I'll be passing this one by... RETRO EDIT5: Dohohohoho.

Nice stuff. I posted another one of my long comments in the news post.

I wish I was "in the industry" so I could go to E3. My friends have been all fired up to go to E3 because they figure that rule about "only those in the industry are allowed" is just posted to deter people. Egh.
So, now they all want to go on some lame road trip. I'm not going. I doubt even they will.
Besides that, good going getting a pass to E3.
I'm sure you're already going to be looking into Spore there, plus every other thing anyway, but since you asked... keep an eye out for Metal Gear Solid 4 for me. According to what I've read, they've been working on it since before they released MGS 3. I ask this particularly, even though everyone else will probably cover it to death, there's a certain satisfaction hearing it from someone directly, rather than some scatterbrained IGN/Gamespot/whatever reporter who likes racing games above all else. Yuck.
Also, they usually just LOVE to make you pay for exclusive crap. Usually not text, but whatever.
And of course, you have fun. I'm sure it'll be a blast.
Something big always happens...

Cripes. It's too damn hot today. I'm going outside.

Everything Else / Re: Cool or Stupid?
« on: April 22, 2005, 03:51:19 pm »
Whooa, those are... unsightly.
I'm not too into the whole custom cases thing. I like my old gray and, uh, dark gray just fine.

And yeah, that's just milking it, not that they haven't been for years with all the toys and such.

Quite stupid.

Shining Force II is the greatest game of all time. A love the music.
But besides that, I posted one of my long-assed comments about your podcast in the comments thing.
Good stuff. Your podcast I mean.
I've got to tell you, I've never heard of podcasting before I came here. I still don't technically understand the term, but whatever.
All I know is that you talk about interesting topics. This one was a lot slower than most, but that may partly be the slow news week deal.

I wanted to suggest that you actually do make them longer. I like the 70 minute ones. When I free up some time, I usually end up with a -lot- of free time. That gives me plenty of... uh, time to listen to a nice full report.
But since news was slow, as you say, I guess there couldn't have been much to add. It doesn't really sound like much is going on.
I wish True Fantasy Live Online would come back.
Of course, my interest for that has been replaced with a new interest for Uncharted Waters Online. I love Uncharted Waters: New Horizons.
I find it odd that Square-Enix wasn't on that E3 list.

Anyways, keep it up.

Console Games / Re: Mercenaries
« on: April 10, 2005, 12:56:40 am »
Yeah, I enjoy Mercenaries. I'm still only on Diamonds I think, with one guy left to get. I'm going for a whole "take absolutely -everyone- prisoner" method. It'd damned hard sometimes.
I expect it should get much harder.
I love the explosions. They really got them right. You can almost feel the impact.
Though when you blow up buildings (for those that don't know, you can blow up just about every building), it just looks terrible. The building is merely replaced with a destroyed version, while the old version goes ass-up and sinks away into the ground. It's not right. But whatever.

Too bad they didn't give it multiplayer. That game could have had some insane multiplayer modes.

Spore: General / Re: UFO Exclusivity
« on: April 08, 2005, 02:54:28 am »
I think it'd be fun to have other civilizations from other galaxies eventually making their rounds in the universe. It'd be a competition.
Of course, I don't believe it'd be very nice if they showed up with a huge army while you just stepped out of the pond.

Maybe only after your civilization gets the UFO, the other civilizations can then put out UFOs?
And no planet killers for them.

Besides galactic conquest competition, I'd love to blow them away in space. Looking off in the distance, you see a bright blinking red thing flying around. Fire a few thousand things at it to see if it explodes.
Fun fun.

Hello people at GamingSteve.
Looking at my name there, am I the winner? I was curious because if it was me, you pronounced it wrong. No big deal anyway, it just confused me.
If I'm not the winner, I got it right anyway. I still win the internet. ;D

Another reason I come here to ask is because I use Hotmail, and they're not being particularly useful these days. It's unstable, emails won't send or arrive, my inbox disappears for two days and then comes back (that could have been page loading problems though), and other weird things.

Anyway, nice podcast. The last couple of podcasts I've replied a big reply to (I type as I listen to it). I usually end up saying the same crap over and over though.

I also wanted to suggest that you review, at some time or another, a really bad game. I don't mean just finding a game you don't particularly like. I mean like... terrible. Some kind of Bad Game of the Week. Something old, something new. Whatever.
I think that'd be interesting. I usually find stuff like that funny. You could add some more humor to the podcast.
Though I usually find the sirens pretty funny, and how you apologize for them. You ought to go out there and make them apologize, huh? Disturbing the peace like that. Disrupting people that are busy at work on their podcasts and such.
Tch tch.
