Right, what do you guys think about pushing time ahead a tad and getting this meeting started?

Sounds good, but don't push it directly to the meeting. Morton has to take DMB's character along with him.

Meeting? Secret or Public? If it's public, then John might do a report on it for the paper. If not, he'll just keep it under wraps.

I've phoned the employers. My guy must be half-dead,standing there for three days with a phone to his ear.

Yeah, about that.  Does anyone know when the telephone became widely used?  I checked wikipedia, but they just mention the technological changes, not when and how far they proliferated.  But from what I can tell, dial phones didn't come out for awhile after the first telephones, with the first ones only able to connect to a single other phone via hard line.  In other words, a bar room phone probably wouldn't connect to a secret society's den.

Is everyone who's going to be invited to the meeting invited?
What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

The telephone has been invented by this time, however I would imagine it would only be in the hands of the very wealthy or in public facilities like a police station or government office.

There isn't a phone number on the card.

Its just an invitation with an address, not a business card.

I know it was invented, wiki told me that much, but they were mostly connections from one building to another.  You could no more dial it than you can dial those plastic walky-talkies that only work with twenty meters of each other.  And yeah, it was probably restricted to the wealthy (not public facilities, except mabey police to mayor or something, due to aforementioned two building set up).

Well... how about we kick history a little bit and say that there is an operator... I mean, that is what their job description used to entail; physically connecting your line to the intended recipient.

Maybe it could be a secret phone network... or maybe we can not worry about the phones too too much. :P

Lets avoid the whole debate and go with Sam's suggestion (fact since his character made the cards) that there was no number on the card.  Little, just wait for the meeting like everyone else, a secret society who went through the trouble of finding extraordinary individuals wont dole out a job over the phone to someone they've never heard of.
