I actually really enjoyed the Subspace Emissary up until the great maze. That portion of the game can just go screw itself.
I thought the great maze was the best part of SSE. In fact, I wish that was all SSE was. The platforming combined with the generic enemies left me barely satisfied at best and the awesome cut-scenes were the only motivators to keep me going.

I still stick with Captain Falcon, because he is the manliest of men. It's much, much harder to connect with his knee, but I guess that makes the game more balanced, I suppose. I still miss how it used to wreck all sentient life, though.

The writing strikes me as really cheesy. There is promise, this is Silicon Knights after all, but I'm very skeptical about this one. At the very least, it'll lay down a foundation that the sequels can only build upon.

I was thinking of buying this game but I changed my mind when I saw Infinite Undiscovery

That looked good until it showed gameplay.

PC Games / Re: Penumbra

I finished Penumbra: Black Plague awhile ago, and it's definitely worth playing. It's creepy, the audio is excellent and the puzzles are logical and rewarding. Imagine a point-and-click adventure, except it's in first-person and pixel-hunting received a massive overhaul. Instead of just clicking around to examine stuff (for example, a drawer), you have to act out the physical movements (you gotta click and hold onto the drawer, and pull back with the mouse).

This is a massive necro-post, but I have a pet peeve with repeating topics, no matter how old it is.

The X series rocked. At least until X3.

I'm having fun, but I'm not going head over heels over it like a lot of other people.

I tried it for 10 minutes, got sick from how epic it was, and then took a breather. I got really drowsy after exiting, so I fell asleep for 3 hours. It was time for bed by the time I woke up.

That is what Sins did to me. It ruined my day in a way that didn't involve me getting grossly addicted.

Console Games / Re: Is the PS3 the new DS?
« on: August 08, 2006, 02:21:08 pm »
I doubt Sony will outright fail. They have a huge fanbase, 100 million huge. $600 dollars is outrageous in my opinion but guess what? People bought a $300 dollar iPod because it's an iPod and people are going to spend $600 on a PS3 because it's a new PlayStation. Sony still has a stranglehold on key franchises like MGS and Final Fantasy. People will buy a PS3 just for those games... a lot of people.

Also, everyone knows about the PS3. When I talk to my friends about the Wii, they're clueless. When I overhear conversations in school it's always PS3 that, 360 this, Gears of War, MGS4, FFXIII, etc. Wii had a huge presence at E3 but the casuals don't keep tabs on these kind of things. The Wii was praised in a ton of forums and websites but do you really think a casual guy who uses the internet only for MySpace is even aware of these forums or even aware of Wii? I guess gauging a popularity of a console in a high school is not really all that accurate, but overall, the Wii doesn't exist to many people in my school.

I wish the Wii would succeed but just because of bad times in Sony doesn't mean they'll crash and burn. I'm expecting them to succeed just like they succeeded with the PS2 mainly because of the mainstream presence they have on the world.

I've never really gotten into the Resident Evil games before, but since I have a Cube and I couldn't find Eternal Darkness, I got RE 4, and it is one helluva game! The aiming system really bugged me at first, but now I don't know if I can ever go back to regular FPSs. I've never had so much fun killing zombies (or whatever they are). Anyways, who isn't looking forward to Dead Rising?
Eternal Darkness... that bathtub scene made me crap my pants. Not literally but I'd say it was close.

Well, one time I was running away from an Imperial Guard and I decided to swim into the middle of the lake. The guard turned around and ran the other way. I decided to hang out here until midnight because the thieves guild guy comes out and clears out bounties.

So I wait... it's around 10:30 pm then I hear "Thief!"... I swim down into the lake and the guard that was chasing me tells me to give up. While we were underwater. I just gave up.
