Yeah good point, even using something as fast as a wireless mouse is horrible in online FPS games, my neighbour insisted on using his fancy expensive wireless mice for years, then I forced him to buy one with a cord and he never looked back after that, the difference is very noticeable, it does sound interesting though.

Heh his solution to lag was to send the packets really really rapidly with no lag, very technical and reassuring lol.

I noticed steam downloading an update to GTA IV, so today I decided to give this piece of %#@$ a 9th chance, and sure enough, now we are back to square one with stupid error messages, this time I got the message that I needed to update my XP to service pack 3 ......... but since Im using Vista I find it very hard to accomodate the sharp heads at rockstar studios, so yet again I have spend time trying to get this awfull excuse of a game to play, to absolutely no avail, that was the third patch, and things just get worse and worse, Rockstar have managed to dwarf Peter Molyneux when it comes to buggy releases, I have never been left so unsatisfied by a game, three freaking patches, three .... and now it doesnt even work anymore ... I give up.

I am however playing Infantry a lot atm, and some hinterland and ETW too.

wow, they must be stupid doing it that way. The way Valve and Stardock handle it is a lot better. They could've just learned from those 2 >.>

Exactly, they would have had a sale right now, instead I just went and preordered a boxed version cheaper than the digital one ....... aaah well their loss.

And Dark .... burning it to a CD sorta defeats the purpose of buying digitally  ;D

I may have misunderstood something when trying to preorder godfather 2 from the EA store, but as I read it I only have acces to the game for 1 year if I buy their digital copy ? even though Im paying for a full price game and they are saving on packaging, handling and distribution since its just data on a stream, so basically Im just renting it for a year, at full price .... is this really so or did I misunderstand it completely, anyone else have experience with the EA store ??

That Forest Gump clip was hilarious :)

You all must know the story of the war of the worlds, Jeff Wayne from Moody Blues made this double album, I dont know much about the record and its history, but the LP itself is amazing, I first heard it many many years ago, and its like a short musical, but with some really hard hitting names like Phil Lynott who is singing in this clip, the LP came with a picture album showing painted scenes from the story, if you have never heard this album then you are in for a treat if you like story telling, anyway here is a snippet, the tripods have landed, the earth is doomed, and our hero encounters 2 people on his journey away from danger, enjoy :)

I started with Sweden again after the patch, and I just researched fire by rank, having 3 ranks instead of only the front one all fire is just insane.
And I finally got the hang of navy battles, I set a waypoint far away so they all sail in a neat line, then when the engagement begins, I change the degree of the direction so my ships kinda zig zag along the enemy line, this results in my line all firing as often as possible, instead of just the few that have a target in their angle of attack, because my angles keep swinging left and right like a pendulum creating a huge field of fire.
But even after the patch it still feels like a rubberband on the main map, my gentleman duels are in slow motion.

PC Games / The Maw
« on: March 11, 2009, 05:52:17 am »
As usual when I see an independently developed title I just have to check it out, the Maw is a very short and quite simple game, you start of in a cage in a science lab surrounded by all kinds of odd creatures, one of them is a little mouth creature, and upon escaping the facility you discover an armband that allows you to interact with various objects, and keep Maw on a leash, the object of the game is to feed Maw as much as humanly possible, the more he feeds the larger he grows, and when he eat certain special animals like a fire "dog?", he will absorb the properties of that animal and be able to use it to solve the various puzzles.

Thats basically it, the graphics arent spectacular but they are very clean with a destinct artstyle, but the game is fun, short but fun, especially considering its only a tenner on steam and EA didnt wrap their greasy paws all over it, Im not sure how much replay value it has since the story is very linear without any deviations, but there is some DLC content for the console, and I expect it to be released on the PC too.

All in all a nice little indie title, if you are into cute games then you will like this one, if you are too cool to be cute then it probably isnt for you :)

Hi guys,

We will be rolling out the first of a series of updates later today with a variety of fixes for Empire: Total War, including:
Fixed Alt-Tab issue which prevents players from switching away from a full screen window
Fixed text rendering for certain resolutions
Fixed localized font overrun issues.
Fixed a variety of crash and memory leak issues
Fixed a variety of multiplayer client lock
Fixed trade nodes for those nations with resource in home region which caused unprofitable trade theatre routes eg: Sweden and Marathas.
There is a constant support program in process which is using your feedback as well as our own testing. We are currently working on the next update which will be available early next week.

Boys are boys and girls are choice.
A crazy old army band stationed in Europe in the 60's, the LP is ultra rare.

This is shaping up to be the best game in the series, there are a few glitches, like dismounting on a fence will get your men stuck, and sometimes the pathfinding will form your men in a straight line away from the point you wanted, and also the campaign map still stutter slightly when moving the map.
But everything else seem to have been changed for the better, trading is excellent, almost too important, building all the little camps of weavers, loggers, skinners and so on is very nice, research and technology is finally implemented in a logical and fun way, and the navy battles are so hard you just want to cry and cry, this game really revived the total war series.

I have a problem though, I started as Sweden, and right away I sent my fleet to the ivory coast to reserve a trade node, and now I have 3 merchant ships on that node, but Im not getting any trade at all from Africa when I look at the trade summary ....  any of you know what I missed ?
(edit) Nevermind, I found out that Sweden is bugged and cannot use the trade nodes at all ...

I figured out why my game ran so awfull, in my first attempt to optimize it, I turned the shader model to ver 2 instead of using 3, but after turning it back to 3 the game runs very smooth, the animations are perfect now, with shader 2 they only had 2 frames, one for each leg, and watching a group of camels come charging down on you, using nothing but 2 frames of animation being switched every second was just too horrible to watch, now Im SURE we werent talking about the same animations, because I havent seen anything like it after turning back to ver 3 :)
