The best movie you've never seen...
« on: March 16, 2005, 08:18:49 pm »
Define "best" however you will... critical acclaim, recommendation of friends, etc. What's the best movie you've never seen yet?

For me it would have to be "Raging Bull". It's DeNiro. It's Scorsese. I should be pre-programmed to love this movie. And yet, I've never seen it. What the hell? I even got so far as to rent it from That Chain That Supposedly Doesn't Have Late Fees But Really Does, and unfortunately, work got busy and I had to send it back unwatched.

I saw Ghost in the Shell a long time ago. I don't remember much about it. All I remember is that it was Anime and it had a naked hero chick in it. And I swear to God I'm not a porno freak and that is why I remember it.

It's kind of hard to define best if you haven't seen something.

If you mean as in based on reviews then it would have to be Titanic.

If you mean based on a preview where you planned to see something but never got round to then ehmm well can't think of anything yet......well Robots but that's not out here until tomorrow ;)

Life Aquatic.

Supposed to totally fit my sense of humor, and yet I haven't seen it.
Can't think of any others.

True...there was probably a better way to say that. That's why I said you could define "best" broadly. In my case, I'm thinking some combination of critics (I usually agree with Ebert 70-80% of the time, for instance), a few friends whose opinions I trust, and occasionally the look of trailers/previews/etc.

Nausica of the Valley of the Winds

I saw the hacked up version of it called Warriors of the Wind when I was very little. I can't wait to see it on DVD.

Make that the best movie you have ever seen, and see it - because it is so damn funny, seriously.

Mine would have to be Matrix Revolutions - never seen it, never want to... yet lots of people love it.

Well I make it a point to see just about everything. But I would say that mine would be "Das Boot". I really want to see it, which is strange considering that I have it sitting right next to me on DVD from Netflix. But it's just so long ... and in German ... and it's so damn long.

But I have heard that it's so good. Ah I'll see it one day.
