Yeah...

And?

I think they offered to distribute the game through it...

But what happens to my copy situation when they release it?

I have a question that I think is a pretty good one!

I have a copy of Darwinia so will anything happen when it comes out on Steam? Will it know that I have it or will it just not care?

Any future patches will still be released in stand-alone form for owners of pre-Steam versions,  according to Introversion.  However, you will not be able to get Darwinia through Steam without buying it again. (Since Darwinia doesn't have a cd-key, and doesn't use any form of cd authentication, there is no possible way they can know you have a legit copy, other than you sending it to them, which is pretty out of the question.)

I had to mod this game for class last semester. It gave me a headache because of the FPS camera. However i have fun with weird areas. I even made a dragon's belly from the mouth through the stomach to the .. well end.

What I don't like about digital distribution is that it completely ignores people who don't have broadband.

Like me.  :(
