THOSE ARE FLOODGATES.

You'll never know why.

Monsters have been enabled again, on a different map of course.
We're on a water fort map we made a little while ago. Let's see how that goes.

Try to fish and cook. Let's make a good stock of food.
We're building primarily on the water, but it's not enforced. Feel free.

Don't forget about fall damage and drowning. Animals can and will bump you off into pits.
Monsters will ruin your ass if you go out at night poorly equipped. Don't be stupid.

Remember kids, don't play with fire. ESPECIALLY NOT IN A WOODEN HOUSE!

EDIT: Well, I guess at least I got my obsidian...

Yes I was tired of Win 95's compatibility problems with newer programs.

No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

If you guys want to survive better, go down into the mine and dig us up some iron or smelt the stacks that need stacking. Make a set of iron armor.
Seriously. I have all iron and leather boots. I'm pretty well ironclad. Even leather will help you out.
Always bring food and a good sword. Some of us have diamond swords. Don't be making/taking those unless you've got armor.

You'll do great with armor. Get you some.

EDIT: Found a truly monstrous cave system. Big.
You might be thinking "Pff. It's probably just another hole in the ground."
No.
This is a monster-spawning nightmare. Enemies popping out of places above you, destroying all the torches you placed around and below you. Lava and water everywhere. Iron, gold, coal, redstone everywhere.
I think one of the ways to get to it is through a tunnel I made beneath the mine at the seafort. Take the short ladder and go down the hall. Eventually it hits a cave. Find a room I made down there with a narrow tunnel and follow it a ways. Eventually it leads to this underground lava river I found.
The cave system should be somewhere near there, I hope. I wandered quite a long ways and put up over two stacks of torches. Still I feel like I missed a lot.

Yeah, when I get killed, sometimes the monsters go invisible, so I have to quit and restart.

EDIT:
BETA STARTS DECEMBER 20!

If you've been sitting on the fence about this game, get it now.  The price will rise to 14.99 ~$20.  And not only that, but the clause that stated that Alpha players will get all future updates for free will no longer apply.  So if they come out with DLC packs after release, they'll be free to Alpha testers, but cost money for everyone else.

MUST GET THIS GAME.

*checks limited cash resources*

I've got just barely enough.
Can I buy it in stores? I don't have a Paypal.
