Children of Men

Has anyone seen this movie? If not, I really recommend you do while it's still in the cinemas. It's well directed, well acted and very insightful with some powerful messages although it is quite brutal and not at all worried about shocking the audience with that brutality.I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

Has anyone else seen it yet? what were your thoughts?

I saw a trailer the other day and I'm very interested. Could you explain the plot a little?

I can't wait for this film to come out here. It looks and sounds excellent.

It is set some time in the not too distant future when women have suddenly become infertile and no one knows why. The youngest person on the planet (who is a celebrity) died at 18 when someone attacked him and the world mourns. The world is in turmoil as people pointlessly war with each other because there doesn't seem to be any point to life anymore since noone can reproduce. The only surviving normal civilisation is brittain, who servived by brutally defending their borders from any immegrants and installing a totalitarian government.

This is the setting, the story itself uses this backdrop to explore some shortcomings in our own society so it has a feel of a wartime situation rather than a sci fi. I really recommend it.

Some parts of the movie are pretty brutal. Not "loads of gore brutal" but "emotionally shocking brutal".

The climax of the film is fkn (brutally) beatiful too.

Its very well directed.

Re mannas background to the plot: The Britan in the film is kinda simmilar to the Britan in V-for Vendetta, but a fair bit more chaotic with terrorism and whatnot.

Oh, I just noticed, there IS a Children of Mana. It was in the Portable Games board instead of the Movies one.   :-[
