When EA goes to court they have little paper cutouts that run around the court room saying "Liar!Liar!" ver fast and repededly, whenever the opposition says something.

I had a couple questions for the devs about flying creatures

1. Will a creature have to have feathers to fly, or will bat's wings work too

2. Will it fly with any wing size or do the wings have to be proportional to the body weight?

3. Will flying be the only way it gets around or will you have a walk option?

Do you need wings to fly, or can you levitate?

1. It's supposed to be real-life-ish, so bat wings should work. The better question would be "Can you have feathers?"

2. I hope there won't be little microscopic wings that allow buffalo sized creatures to fly. That'd be stupid. No official word, but I'm betting this is a no.

3. Nothing is set, but Will said that if you have a flying creature, you're gonna have a ground-based city. So walking is pretty much implied, unless you don't give it legs or something stupid like that and say, "OMG Y N0T IT W4LKZ0RZ!?"

Do you need wings to fly, or can you levitate?

I'd be willing to bet that you need wings. How many animals have you seen that levitate?

dealing with flying, anyone that watched "alien planet" they had the critters that worked like a blimp, full of hydrogen in certain spaces of their bodys that let them gently float around off the ground, and little fins to propell them around.

hmmmm, Animals are full of nerves- nerves operate via electrical impulses- thats why pins and needles feels like a mild electric shock. Hydrogen + 1 spark = Kablamo! be a useful copout to make a flying creature in spore with a bloated body and tiny wings.

I think the hydrogen would need something to burn with.  If your body doesn't use oxygen, or if you can find a way to reliably segregate the oxygen from the hydrogen bladder, you're all set.
I have been told
not by one but two of my lovers
that I've got a heart of gold
but I'm unable to share it with others
They call me a poet who'll never have a poem
a tiger with no taste for bone
I'm the wonderful wonderful wizard who's waltzing alone

Hydrogen can also burn with chlorine or sulphur, among other things

Don't forget - methane is a lighter-than-air gas, too. Make a creature that eats beans and put an internal valve on their intestines and you've got a living blimp. Not as effective as hydrogen, but living earth creatures already expell it.

As for hydrogen, if your body could collect the hydrogen produced from converting sugars to energy and store it, you wouldn't need lungs (since oxygen is just used to bond with the hydrogen, turning it into water vapor and keeping ti from building up and toxifying the body).

Neon is a lighter-than-air gas as well -- and it isn't flammable...
