Title: Town Tycoon
Post by: Tesla on July 27, 2007, 12:07:37 pm
I just had to jump on the bandwagon. I know these games are already a dime a dozen, but I still wanted to...

Oh yeah. I'm probably known for my inconsistency, and the fact I always start things I never intend to finish. Well I've been practicing my spriting a lot recently, and I quite enjoy it. Think of this as not a game, but a fun way for me to further my abilities.

Oh yeah, sprite style stolen inspired by Clayren.
In fact, that applies to this whole thing.

Welcome to Town Tycoon (An awful name, I know). The game where you grow your own village by micro management. We'll be playing as Holiday Villages Int. , a company planning to buy land worldwide and turn them into cute havens for tourists to spend their cash. The only problem? The owner of this company is clueless, and needs your help. He has 100,000 dollars he inherited from his successful father, but he has spent 50,000 on a building, six employees, and stuff that belongs to his personal life.

So here it is. Your rather bad-looking HQ. Sitting to your left is one Trisha Avonmore, responsible for your employees and guests, and how you treat them. To your right is Conor Wintershire, he makes sure your buildings and furniture is all top of the line.

So what is your first order?

A. Buy a small plot of land in Spain - $10,000
     1. Ship Employees over - $300 each
     2. Ship 5 Employees over and build Living Quarters - Locked (Need 2 more employees)
B. Buy a medium plot of land in France - $20,000
     1. Ship Employees over - $350 each
     2. Ship 5 Employees over and build Living Quarters - Locked (Need 2 more employees)
C. Buy a large plot of land in Italy - $30,000
     1. Ship Employees over - $400 each
     2. Ship 5 Employees over and build Living Quarters - Locked (Need 2 more employees)
D. Hire X more builders - $500 each
E. Put up X advertisements around town - $1,000 each
F. Take out a loan - $5,000 to $50,000

That's not how real estate works.  Location. Location. Location.   :P

I only did it because we'd only have about 7,000 left, and we'd be nakrupt by the time we had a few buildings up.  :-\

Okay sir. We've secured a plot of land in the region of Calabria, Italy. Right now it's just a fenced off piece of wasteland. We've got our three builders staying in a nearby hotel, and we've payed for a week in advance.
We've hired 5 new eployees back home as well, but they're pretty much idle.

So we should probably begin building something, sir.

A. Build accomodation.
    1. An apartment block - $5000
    2. X amount of chalets - $1000 each
    3. X amount of large tents - $250 each
    4. An employee's hostel - $3,000
B. Ship over X more employees - $400 each
C. Advertise in Homeland/Italy - $1000
D. Take out a loan - $5,000 - $50,000
E. Hire X more employees - $500 each
F. Build a research lab - $5,000
E. Publish brochures - $1,000 per 100.

It says we have $33,700.

Build only chalets.  The key to housing prices is uniformity in the area.  Sad, but true.

According to your orders, sir, before we shipped off our five new builders we got them to add a Research Lab to our HQ. Now we can work on blueprints for extra buildings. We kept two employees and converted them into architects.

We also put up two billboards outside popular travel agencies over here and in Italy.

We built nine chalets and now we're pretty full. I felt the lot was too unactractive so I took the liberty of spending $5,000 on sprucing it up, and added a small office/public restroom.

Our builders have taken to crashing in the chalets instead of returning to the hotel.

A. Build accomodation.
    1. An apartment block - $5000
    2. X amount of chalets - $1000 each
    3. X amount of large tents - $250 each

C. Advertise in Homeland/Italy - $1000
D. Take out a loan - $5,000 - $50,000
E. Hire X more employees - $500 each
F. Research site attractions - $3,000
G. Publish brochures - $1,000 per 100
H - Extend site - $10,000
I - Sell X amount of chalets for $5,000 each (Will remain on premises but not belong to us)

Hello sir, it's time for the monthly update.

Our advertisements (we have three now) finally earned us three families, at $3,000 each. We extended the site outwards and built two more chalets. We also added an employees hostel, and the builders painted on the side of it, you gotta admit, they got talent!

I believe back at HQ your researchers drew up some new blueprints? We got them yesterday. A swimming pool, and a playground? We have a lot of room so adding them will be no problem!

Okay sir. We built a gift shop near the office, and currently we're selling inflatables, sweets, drinks, newspapers and crap like that. We turned two builders into camp helpers. One is a lifeguard and one is working in the shop. We built some extra chalets. Only one more family arrived this month, and thats the last one we expect for at least three more months, holiday season is coming to a close. On the plus side, this will give time for our advertisements to attract lots of new reservations, and hopefully when it get's hot outside again this camp will be filled up.

If you ski sideways (to the left or right), it will chase you at the same speed you ski. Eventually, though, you will hit an obstacle, crash, and he'll eat you.
