Our virus has mutated to allow for extra spindles to attach with in its 'back' side. This allows our virus to attach to red blood cells and easily flow into the heart, then, using its frontal spindles it attaches onto the cells lining the inner heart, such as those lining the right and left ventricles and atrium. Once attached to the heart cells, the virus then retracts its spindles from the red blood cells and plunges its spike into the heart. The spike releases a trace amount of DNA that causes the heart cell to systematically die off. This causes an intense reaction from the immune system however, thus the physical effects caused are small amounts of pain and discomfort in the heart region. In humans with a bad immune system, over time it is fatal, but in most cases the immune system can take care of it after merely 2 days of fighting. The virus continues to grow in the genitals of males, therefore it has become a male dominant disease and females tend to be an inhospitable environment for us as we fail to reproduce in their bodies. Our virus is still able to spread by 'sperm' and in the air after a human has an open wound. Health conscious humans are often diagnosed with 'obesity', 'high cholesterol', 'high blood sugar', 'low blood sugar', and finally, 'Tetra-spindle syndrome'. The last one being the rarest, and most recently discovered disease, the current traits humans and doctors know of this new disease is that A) It is male prevalent, B) It travels in the blood using 4 spindle like attachments, and C) It attacks the heart only. No cure or vaccine is in the making as we are considered a nuisance at best and fatal in extreme cases only.

Now, it is time we gave our virus fighting power. We need our virus to last longer than 2 days in a healthy body, therefore it needs a way to fight back against the immune system. Most importantly however, the phagocyte white blood cells that consume us in great numbers must be dealt with. To do this our virus will mutate, but what will the mutation do?

The mutation will...
A) Increase our defensive nature. (Last longer, less physical damage, less noticeable)
B) Increase our offensive nature. (Last longer, more physical damage, more noticeable)
C) Attack another part of the body. (Please suggest one, will divert immune system resources, last longer, more noticeable)
D) Infect more cells. (Specify a region, allows us to grow faster, last much longer, much less physical damage, less noticeable)
E) Other.

Mode(s) of Transportation: Airborne, 'Sperm'
Infected Area(s): Blood Stream, Genitals, Heart
Infected Cell(s): Testicular reproduction cells.
Effect(s) upon body: Lowers red blood cell count, Kills heart cells slowly
Immune System Reaction: Medium (We last 2 days atm)
Treatment: None
Cultural Name: Tetra-spindle syndrome

Yeah. Unisex virus. Doesn't make much sense, but we can get behind it.

Infect vaginas as well.

That and develop the ability to travel by mosquito.

Infect the uterus as well.

For a less glaring/more specific option.

If we infect male genitals, doesn't it make sense that we'd infect female genitals?  That would make sexual transfer easier.

No picture necessary for this next update.

Our virus has developed the capabilities of also infecting the female ovary. This allows our virus to now grow and prosper in both the male and female environment. While undetected in women as of now, due to our new mutation, doctors and the public are still very aware of our presence in men. We continue to spread through the air, however, we are now able to spread into babies as well if we are active during contraception, and both the male and female are infected. Thus we have become a generational virus as long as we are active. We still do little to the body however and are laughable in our mortality rate. Our virus still last around 2 days against a healthy immune system and we still do little damage to the body. We must mutate our virus once more.

E) Other.

Mode(s) of Transportation: Airborne, 'Sperm', 'Eggs'
Infected Area(s): Blood Stream, Genitals, Heart, Ovaries
Infected Cell(s): Testicular reproduction cells, Ovarian Cells.
Effect(s) upon body: Lowers red blood cell count, Kills heart cells slowly
Immune System Reaction: Medium (We last 2 days atm)
Treatment: None
Cultural Name: Tetra-spindle syndrome

D, we could develop the ability to become dormant or inactive and flare up when the conditions are right.

How about the Liver? or would that be following the path of the herpes viruses too much? Otherwise, the lymphatic System sounds as good as any,
