I do not know if we have had an official word on if Infantry are going to be an opposition in any other segment in the game besides the tribal stage.

Do have creatures with laser guns, mini guns, bazookas, jet packs, etc. would be a nice feature to have when raiding someones city and not just big bulky vehicles. I know a long long long time ago Will was talking about a possible clothing editor (but that was a no go), but I never heard him talk anymore about Infantry and there overall effect in the "late" game.

As far as we know, there is no infantry past the tribal stage, as you said.
However, it may be possible to make a lot of small vehicles that look like your species in suits.

Though it would absolutely rock to see a bunch of say, Willosaurs marching out in groups firing at the enemy's town.

The idea of "Monkeys with guns" doesn't work to well if the monkeys aren't advanced enough to use guns...

Well, you know, some people still want this to be SimEverything. So everything that doesn't look like it's going to make it into the final release, they hope for at some point in the future.

It's not a completely unfounded hope, either, considering Maxis' record with expansion packs so far. I mean, I'd quite like to see infantry in an expansion pack if it doesn't make it into the release.

Well, I'd rather not feel that the game is incomplete until X, Y and Z expansion packs are installed. I know infantry was never meant to be in there in the first place, but it still feels like it should be.

Infantry- you give your creature a gun and some other stuff


Vehicles-much more cusomisable in terms of looks,, as you add different parts, and play with different ways off making it looks.

No, but Spore is about every thing being player made by the player, and the player feeling close to there creations, Infantry would be the one thing which we would have very little control over. I mean if a player makes a new vehicle, it is theres, but putting a premade gun onto there creature would make it feel less like there. And weapon editor? That would just be too complicated, and you would rarely be able to see your weapon up close.
