I think the fact that you create something in Spore and see it grow up helps to attact a lot of people to the game. I think people enjoy building up more often then breaking things apart. The Sims certainly prove that, although I never could get into that myself.

I like both at times, but enjoy games where I build something, like Civilization, Settlers, or an (MMO)RPG (building your character) the most.

Comments verrrry welcome! Rating my creatures is much appreciated, but be honest please!

I can't decide what I like more... Girls or Spore...

In relation to this thread:
My mum saw me play it, she looked and honestly told me: "That game looks gay."

"It was cooler before."

Although she backfired with: "Why the hell are you playing it then?"

And I said "Just let me play my goddamned game."

"It's only your virginity, loosen up!"

What did you say?

The only response worth giving in a situation like that is, in a faux-lisp, "It's SUPER! Thanks for asking."

Judging by the majority of males in existence on the boards, I'm going to have to say it appeals to both sexes. I'm guessing you're just being amazed by females in your life playing video games? If so I have to say I feel sorry for you. People like that scare me.

So, I'm scary because I find it amazing that my mom, a person who never played videogames, played with the CC and liked it?

Now you sir, scare me.

mine was all carried away with the horse I made and the baby horse I summoned in the test drive area, she was already envisioning full national geographic documentaries with the creature.

I think it should be applauded whenever a game achieves a sense of universal appeal.  But instead it seems normally girls that don't play games don't care either way, and girls that DO like games tend to get agitated at the notion that games may need changed to appeal to girls.

I happen to talk regularly with lots of women.  Two sisters, a few aunts, my mom, wife, daughter, and sister-in-laws to boot.  None of them have been willing to sit down and try my creature creator.  However, my 2 male friends that I talk to at work have all tried it.  Unfortunately I don't have a father, brothers, or anything like that, but I really hope that Spore ultimately finds a market with a women that ordinarily would never play games.

I know I'm still trying to get members of my family to try it.

I don't know any guys interested in Spore, but I know lots of girls who are. The day the Creature Creator was released, two of them called me to demand I download it.

Sadly, I had to explain that I lack the necessary Intel chip. :'(
